Touched and empowered by the presence of past Queens, Crowned Princess Adriana requested a copy be hung in her private quarters. While gazing upon their larger-than-life personas, her strength and courage quickly turned to fear and anxiety. In what she felt was her lowest moment, she called on who she has always depended on.
“Ancil! Alexandria!” Her voice shrieked as she called for her younger siblings. With little to no hesitation, they both burst through the connecting door and saw her sitting in the corner, crying her heart out. They ran towards her and immediately began to comfort her.
“Are you okay?” Ancil asked worriedly.
“Who hurt you?!” said Alexandria, ready to turn the world upside down.
“It’s nothing like that. Honestly. I was looking at Mom and Grandma and realized that soon I’ll be Queen, and I don’t know if I’ll be ready to fill their great shoes….” Adriana started to shake again.
As they held her hands, the twins let out hearty laughs.
“That’s it? I thought it was going to be something serious!” Ancil said.
Alexandria pointed to the painting.
“Look at Mom and look at Grandma. You don’t think they were scared when they picked up the throne and title?”
“Of course they were! They’re only human! And if I knew Mom, she was more scared than you,” Ancil blurted out.
They all let out a collective laugh and then a sigh of relief.
Adriana wiped her tears and began to rub the hands of her siblings. “I know that you two are only 10, but you’re all the family I have left… I need you two to be strong when you feel that I can’t. You guys are my rocks and refuge, my last line of defense, and my only hope.”
Ancil and Alexandria quietly shed tears as they listened to their sister’s helpless plea.
“If I’m going to run this country, I’m going to need all of your help and support. Bring your A-game each and every day. But that’s only after homework.”
They each grab her around her neck and cry-laugh as hard as they can. When the emotions settle, they get up, look at the painting, and touch a section of the painting with their hands.
“Don’t worry, Mom… We’ve got the rest from here…”
With any doubt cast from her head, and a newfound reassurance from her siblings, The Lily of The Valley, First Crowned Princess Adriana Mula, is ready to fill those seemingly impossible shoes
