Continents and oceans of the Urth according to Packilvania

This is a record of how Packilvania discovered and named the landmasses and waterbodies of this planet which the other races know as Urth but which we more accurately know as Yasteria.

Packilvania has its own system for naming oceans as follows:

  • Novren Ocean: This ocean is named after the Ancient Novren people, who despite being dirty pagans, were brave warriors.

  • Bakhilfaniya Ocean: This ocean is named for our marvelous nation, our marvelous light shines here unimpeded.

  • Empaal Ocean: This ocean is named after the house of Impeles, the ancient house of mariners in southern Arcturia.

  • Loopliya Ocean: This ocean is named after the Ancient Looplites.

  • Galeed Ocean: This ocean is named after the Galeedites, a nation of mariners that the Esma Ashamal rescued from a Leviathan.

There are many seas that Packilvania has discovered and mapped but here are the most important ones;

  • Multerviniya Sea: This is named after the country Multerviniya (Great Morstaybishlia)

  • Kunkaard Sea: This is named after the country Kunkaard (Concordian Union)

  • Zaraar Sea: This is named after the country Zaraar (Nystatiszna)

  • Naam Sea: This sea is named after Naam a-Ilohad bu-Adrien who discovered it in 1876

Packilvania’s names for the continents are as follows:

  • Khelshek is named after the Khelshekites, a nation that rebelled against Noi to worship Borg, but they were redeemed by Pax when he defeated Borg and they ascended to the Hive, portending the assimilation that we must seek to attain as well.

  • Naliya is named after the Naliyites, a nation of sinners who repented and whose prayers to Noi gave Pax the encouragement to defeat Borg. They ascended to the Hivemind. The story of the Khelshekites and the Naliyites teaches us that both good and bad people have an opportunity to assimilate.

  • Pekat is named after the Pekatites, a nation of good people who once believed in Noi, but who rebelled due to Borg’s temptations. They were eventually trapped in the Swamp of Rawas the Esma, where their souls lie in torment. We learn from the Pekatites that even good people can turn evil and that repentance is hard.

  • Noor was discovered by a team of Packilvanian scientists and geographers in the 19th century and named as such because, in Packilvanian, Noor means something akin to Nowhere.

  • Abash is sometimes simply called Kunkaard and is usually an archaic name for this continent but it basically refers to mariner Abash a-Gulam bu-Alduraniya who sailed to the edge of the world and never came back, no one knows what happened to him.

  • Thuvak is named after the city of Thuvak which was a shining beacon of development. But was destroyed in an urthquake by the Leviathan Sojul, who was in turn defeated by the Kesamites with the help of the Esma Qaima.

  • Daan is named after Daan, the King of Aliswan, who instructed Thayush a-Oziman bu-Razaam to search for new land for his people in the 3rd century CE.

  • Lash is named after Princess Lash of the Kingdom of Usmul who led a caravan to trade with and discover knowledge from the people there in the 2nd century CE.

  • Zayeer is named after the great explorer Zayeer a-Qamashin a-Halaler who discovered it in the 13th century. He also discovered the Multarveniyan and Kurmushtan people who told him much about the Empaalians.

  • Mayaan is named after the Mayaanites, an order of adventurers in the 16th century who were the first people to sail around the world.

  • Shulvaan’s name is unclear as some think it is named after Lord Astrahan Shulvaan who commissioned a mission to colonize those lands in the 17th century or Shulvaan Imitar the captain who led the botched expedition and discovered it.

  • Vandar is named after the Vandarites, a Packilvanian name for an unknown group of people who were discovered by Iluhid Obroon.

  • Gandoor is named after the Gandoor bird which was discovered by Isakhar Medayin, a scientist in the 17th century. The Gandoor bird is actually named after the Esma Kando is believed to have sent a bird resembling a peacock to give food to Pax in his time of great sorrw.
