I, the rightful king of the united technocratic federation, extend a warm greeting to fellow nation states of the eastern pacific of the eastern Pacific!
Much has been said about my kingdom, and the media has misrepresented many things, as they are want to do. I would like to address a few common misconceptions before moving onto more positive topics.
Is this a dictatorship? No. Nor is it a democracy. Democracy has been tried and it inevitably leads to the dumbing down of politics until it resembles nothing more than reality TV. My advisers are picked not on the basis of their abilities at political backstabbing, but on their ability to actually run the country. Is this country a police state? Well, the police have a lot of powers, but I put it to you that there is no personal freedom more important than the freedom for law-abiding citizens to walk the streets at night, safe from the threat of muggers! Do we have high military expenditure? Yes, but a country must secure its borders, especially when it is yet to form defensive alliances with like-minded states!
In time, the political situation will stabilise as the people thrive under my benevolent rule. In time, we will advance from the ecological disruption caused by mining to clean, green, high tech industry. In time, we will forge alliances and peace treaties and reduce our military budget.
All nations have some teething troubles.
Now, onto more positive matters. My government seeks many avenues of co-operation with our fellow nations, from peace treaties or even alliances to joint scientific megaprojects and free trade agreements. If we have compatible goals, then let us work together. If we disagree, then I say live and let live.
Out of character, I’m slightly confused about this whole region thing. Are we a purely geographical collection of nations, or are we supposed to be an alliance, like the EU? This has a map, so it seems like the former, but I’ve been invited to other regions, like ‘bernie bros’ which seem to be the latter. Do we argue about issues within the region? Do we argue with other regions? I kinda feel like it would make more sense if there were regions and alliances.
In terms of geography, I was thinking a nation comprising a mainland and a few islands, near the equator (national animal is the orangutan).
