An Empress Rises

Rhea sat in her office. She prepared to walk out of her office and speak before the nation. She knew what kind of trouble Alksearia was in, but she was not so thrilled about Dorothea. She read over her speech one more time before someone knocked at the door.

“Your Holiness?” the voice said.

“I’m ready. Tell everyone to expect me in 2 minutes.” Rhea said.

She stood up and put on her ceremonial robes. She wore a black stole, as is tradition when the Church mourns. She finished getting dressed and turned around and left her office. She walked out into a foyer filled with reporters. She walked up the podium, put her speech down on the podium and began.

“I would typically start a speech with a good afternoon, but this is no ordinary afternoon. We watched the gruesome death of our beloved King about 2 hours ago. I cannot stress the sorrow that the Church feels for his death. The Church has entered a mourning state for 2 weeks in remembrance of Eldras VI’s death.”

“However, there are some things we must condemn. First, the barbarity of Eldras’s death cannot be answered with the barbarity of war. We call on both Dorothea and the Grand Vizier to work this out quickly and to avoid actually bloody conflict. We must also condemn going to war with a fellow Xathosi nation. It goes against our teaching to go to war, but to attack our brethren is barbaric.”

“Finally, we ask the Church to pray for Dorothea during her time of mourning and for Xathos to bring her back into the Church. Eldras was a holy man, and did a lot for those who were outside the Church. As much as we still are mad at Eldras for barring our missionary psychologists to Meagharia, the Church asks Dorothea to consider reversing her father’s position. We also ask for Dorothea to include more Bishops on her advisor counsel. The Church plays a large part in everyone’ life, and we not deserve but demand to be represented. We also call on the faithful to start trying to get our interests represented within government. ”

“Finally, I also would like to announce that I will be introducing a motion to consider Eldras to be a Saint in our time. As I have previously stated, Eldras VI was a holy man and always had the Spirits working within him. It would be the right for us to name him a Saint. This will take a while to work out, but we will update everyone when the process is over. May Xathos bless you all, and have a good day.”

Rhea walked away from her podium and walked into her office. She sat at her desk and waited for Dorothea to call her.
