[APPLICANT] Application of Tom

@Tom has taken their Magister’s Oath and posted their Public Disclosure Form. The vote to admit them to the Magisterium has begun and is accessible here.

This thread is to ask questions of the applicant. The applicant should strive to answer any such questions.

  1. What makes you want to join the Magisterium?
  2. How will your position as Khan of LWU affect any foreign policy discussions we have?
  3. How will you make time to adequate debate and vote upon proposals with your prior commitments?
  4. Do you have any plans for legislation or opinions on major debates/discussions?
  5. What will you take into consideration when voting upon legislation?
  1. I’ve been interested in getting more involved in the region for a while and lately I’ve actually had the motivation and energy to do so. I also think legislation is one of the most important parts of how a region is run and I would like to have my voice heard in the legislative process and work with other people to make TEP a better region.
  2. I am the Khan of LWU, but I am also a citizen of TEP and I take any oaths I’ve made to TEP seriously. I am able to consider whether or not something is beneficial to TEP and the regional interest even if it may not be the “raider” thing to do or support. I believe I have been able to successfully balance conflicting interests such as this in the past and will continue to do so. I would also be willing to abstain on anything directly related to LWU, since that would obviously be a very significant conflict of interest.
  3. My prior commitments are no doubt a lot of work but I’ve been able to balance being an R/D org commander along with participating in other regions. For a good portion of my time as a higher ranking member of LWU before I became Khan I was the Speaker(a position similar to provost) of TRR.
  4. I do not have any plans for legislation or any opinions on major discussions right now.
  5. When voting on legislation I will mainly consider whether or not it will make a positive change with regards to the governance of TEP, if the piece of legislation is necessary, and if it’s clearly written. I believe that it’s important that the law be clear and easy to interpret for our citizens and any future legislators.
