The first thing a candidate should ask for any election is are you willing to take on this responsibility? I answered that the moment I accepted the nomination for Provost, but that’s not important now. The question you all should be asking me is what do you want to accomplish in your term as provost? Well, this transcript should hopefully provide all of you with a decent answer.
I think what’s most important for magisters when it comes to bills, is generally down to the announcement of said bill. I have witnessed many times in which bills are bot promoted until a week or so until the provost or some magister brings or reminds it onto the discord. I intend to fix that as Provost, through two methods, the first one is going to be a reinforcement of the previous system in which the provost will announce a bill that needs a second, and when a bill is ready to be voted upon. I personally believe expanding the discord channels into a separate one for magister bill announcements will streamline and assist in this process of publicity and voting.
A second idea and something which I think has been under-utilized and underpublicized is the TEP legislative activity records. As provost I will use and advertise it very effectively to ensure that all magisters know what bills are on the table and need to be seconded and what bills are ready to be voted upon. I believe that promoting and using this for transparency of the Provost would further improve upon the efficiency of drafting, seconding and voting on bills since you can very easily hold the Provost accountable.
These are my first campaign promises and I assure you there will be more once I think of other ways to improve the efficiency of the Magisterium but I suppose I should tell you all a bit of myself because character does matter even for me, I need to understand who it is I am voting for. I only joined TEP as my First Nation in Nationstates a year ago but I have been fascinated and actively working on the TEP government, I am currently serving as an ambassador to both The Hole To Hide In and Land of Kings and Emperors. I have written a couple pieces for UTEP as well, even got one of them featured on EPNS last month.
Though I have only been part of TEP for a year, I have thrown myself into the community, from serving as an ambassador to contributing to UTEP. My academic dedication translates into my work here—I’m committed to learning, growing, and serving. As a student, my time may sometimes be limited, but I will ensure the Magisterium is always in capable hands. Obviously as a fairly new magister I will most certainly consult the old Provosts, and delegate duties to the deputy provosts. However, I am very firm in my commitment and goal for an active legislature so your contributions will always matter whether you wish to discuss legislation, nationstates or treaties. At the end of the day, my vision is for an active government and an active legislature so it is less so that I am leading but that I am supporting your vision towards a better TEP for everyone.
Thank you for reading this, hopefully you’ll consider me for your vote for Provost and even better if you ask me questions for my positions or ideas for the magisterium. No matter the result of this election, I am confident that TEP will emerge stronger. With your support, I will work tirelessly to ensure an active, transparent, and effective Magisterium. Together, we can build a brighter future for the East Pacific.
