I’m currently the 2nd most avoided
At the rate I’m going, the Free Republic of Bai Lung will become the most avoided nation of the East Pacific and eventually the entire NS.
It’s unsurprising really, after a series of brutal dictatorships. First from 1950-1962, the strongly anti-communist Nationalist junta took over the legitimate government (named it Republic of Bai Lung) and executed anyone who was affiliated with communist parties. Nobody received rations of any sort and many people were taken into unmarked vans and tortured.
This violent orgy kept going and going until a 43 year old known as Chen Jong Sung decided it was enough. With the help of funding from underground organisations, he managed to obtain an arsenal of arms illegaly. He stormed his way into their hq, killed the soldiers and the generals resulting in the overthrowing of the junta. June 1962: the junta were no more. The Republic of Bai Lung became People’s Republic of Bai Lung.
The public were under the impression that Chen would make their country much better. How wrong they were. The executions and tortures continued. Only difference is that the Nationalists and other anti-communism are routinely executed. The Stalinist rule continued for 4 decades until the death of the Great Eternal Leader. His sucessor, Xu Lin Wei took over for the remainder of 2006.
In January 2007, the Nationalist junta overthrew the Stalinist regime, establishing the Republic of Bai Lung once more. They made threats towards Dannistaan, claiming that a Chenite general is residing in Dannistaan and they want him. Dannistaan remained adamant in denying his whereabouts. The junta responded by shooting rockets into Dannistaan, killing a few dozen men.
Shortly afterwards, Dannistaan responded by aggressively invading Bai Lung to remove the Nationalist junta and it was successful. Come May 2007, the country has been split into 4 literally. Dannistaan, Dovakhan, Free Pacific States and Coocoostan have taken a piece of the pie.
It’s unsurprising that Bai Lung has become some of the most avoid nations in the EP. That along with the Kashgar uprising will eventually give Bai Lung the top title of the most avoided nation of the EP.
Mainland background:
Legend has it, Bai Lungese settled in the mainland a few centuries ago. Little known what happened there as many records were burned to the stake (presumably keep curious minds at bay?) or washed away to some other nations but what we do know is that there were settlers in the mainland territories who sailed and established colonies there. Think of it this way, many of the British who go to Spain never integrate with the locals, always filled with this misanthropic sentiment. That’s what happened with the Kashgars and Bai Lungese. The former just resented the latter’s presence. Such resentment was expressed by throwing local produce at the Bai Lungese expats.
The most widely accepted account of the official formation of Bai Lung Dàlù started with the year 1953. Having ruled for 3 years in the governing island, the Nationalist government were looking for extra resources to keep sustenance within the general populous (give 'em food but smack the s.o.bs), so they conceived a plan to ‘officially’ send an army of people both civilian and much of the military, (around 10,000 people) to go around the world and hope to find some useful resources. Bringing back seeds of various edible plants, maybe materials that would not otherwise be found in the island. Unofficially, the generals sent off a great deal amount of people because it was simply too full.
Finally, a the explorers landed in what was largely barren waste lands or what was perceived to be. The group unloaded their good, cut down the large areas of forest there to build houses to live and called the place as we know today: Bai Lung Dàlù. Unbeknownst to them, the indigenous population were furious with the Bai Lungese’s presence and were under the impression that they were being invaded. In a way, this is sort of true. The Bai Lungese did enter the lands without any notice.
In 10th March 1959, some of the bloodiest riots occurred. Called the 1959 Kashgar uprising or 1959 Kashgar rebellion, a group of anti-Bai Lungese revolt (at the time, there were 20 million Kashgars in comparison to 5 million Bai Lungese) erupted in the capital of Beiyang (the old name of Xinjiang, which in turn Beiyang was the replacement name of Moscievovirsk). As a result of the bloody uprising, the Kashgar spiritual leader hid underground and all his subordinates were executed by the junta government for fears that he will end up like them.
The tensions between both sides remained low key for the remainder of the Nationalist junta era. The policy with the treatment of Kashgars remained the same under Chen’s regime, who overthrew the junta government in June 1962. In fact, he took a step further and called for the purging of the Kashgars while governing his little island. His cult of personality overshadowed the atrocities he has committed in Dàlù. The population of Kashgars dropped from 20 million in 1959 to 15 million in 1969 and that number kept dropping. Many Kashgars hid underground or adopted Chinese names and even went as far as to change their appearance (they are Turkic based people) and resemble the Bai Lungese.
At least the Nationalist junta treated the Kashgars like 2nd class citizens, the Stalinist regime had no concept and went on a mass genocide for 44 years. .
