The Republic of Milesandia, at the request of other nations and personal groupings, offer up a resolution to modify the following law as pertaning to maps and country acquisition.
QUOTE
OCCUPIED TERRITORIES
- (1) A nation may occupy a reasonable number of plots beyond its sovereign territory. However, these will not be recognised as sovereign to that nation and shall be indicated in grey on the regional map. Such territory must be continguous to the nation’s sovereign territory, or to other territories likewise claimed so that the entire claimed territory is continguous.
I am proposing to add to the end of the record this simple clause:
QUOTE
In cases of island nations and/or nations that have been blocked by other nations that have been established, review of the laws pertaining to contiguousity of the nation can be performed and a ruling to either accept or deny the request can be addressed on a case-by-case basis
I proposed the adding of the clause, rather than expunging it, for the simple fact of other nations who have garrisoned territory with no intention of inhabiting. I cite Govindia vs. Cupertino, involving 10 garrisons and only 5 allotments per nation. Govindia, to note, lost this case.
It’s to deal with this that I put in the section allowing the Cartographer to have the final say and also allowing the Senate to selectively grant exemptions.
I’d also want to amend subsection 2(1) to read “Nations below 500 million may claim one plot.”
I find myself quite confused at where we stand with two or three threads regarding map changes. Notably the minimum population issue does not seem to be referenced here. I will abstain from voting in hopes that the president will clarify this.
other proposals are not addressed in this vote. Other proposals must be submitted in a poll for vote.
NOTE: ANYONE can bring an issue to vote, but I reserve the right to delete ignorant ones. IE “I like cheese”. The only requirement is a Yay, Nay, Abstain vote option.
This would be the amended version; I’ve also added in a couple of headings. I think we can and should vote now.
