[CAMPAIGN] Mission ACcomplished?

Magisters,

We approach the dawn of a new era. In just 66 short hours, the supreme executive command of the WA Delegate shall be no longer. The Executive shall be entrusted in an Archon and the in-game Delegacy transferred to what we currently know as the Grand Vizier. This new power balance, while adopted by most if not all regions of our scale, will be - to my knowledge - a first for The East Pacific in its 23-year history. Certainly, it is the single most impactful change to our system of government since the Concordat era began in 2009.

At that same time, I will have completed my fifth term as Provost. This ranks me 2nd all-time amongst all Provosts for consecutive terms served, only to CyberiumShadow’s six. Those who remember those days will recall I served as their Deputy for all six of those terms. I understand what the implications of running for a sixth term are, and I trust you all do as well.

Upon some self-reflection, I’ve come to the understanding that my NationStates career - at least, in its current state - is mostly in the rearview mirror. This will be the final time I make an effort to run for Provost. For the first time in over a year, my victory is nowhere close to ascertained.

My 6th and final term would see a simple two-item prerogative:

  • …that HOGS is fully implemented and any conflicts/bugs worked out, and
  • …that the Office of the Provost is fully and ultimately prepared for my departure.

Taking a look at the field, one could make the argument that the latter item has already been satisfied. Such a claim would, in all truth, not be mistaken. I would be honored to accept this 6th and final mandate, but I understand that it is no certainty. If the Magisterium feels that this wave of change is the right time, then I will raise no objection to its decision.

Aside from some (admittedly shameful) hiccups, I am very proud of the way I’ve run this Office. I believe this Office has taken a more active approach to the Magisterium than it has in past years, and has accomplished various goals in encouraging legislative activity as well as ensuring the swift, timely and efficient function of government. It is important to me that this trend continues, and I trust that no matter who wins, that trend will continue.

Right now, however, my goal is this: that I finish what I’ve started.

It behooves this Magisterium to vote in their best conscience; my only personal ask is that, one last time, Magisters select AC for Provost of the 70th Magisterium of the East Pacific.

Ex Oriente Lux
Provost AC
