University Code of Decorum

  • The Community Rules of The East Pacific and the Laws of The East Pacific shall be held in force within the University, and thus apply to all of its media, including, but not limited to Execord and the University Forums.
    • Violation of these rules and laws shall result in a ban from the University.
  • Debate within the University shall follow a rule of respect.
    • No matter how much you disagree with an idea, the focus of discussion must remain on the logistical and rational errors of the idea rather than the fault or imperfections of the idea’s holder.
    • There shall be an understanding of academic charity in that argument against a proposition must consider the strongest version of that proposition and not a “straw man” therein.
    • Members of the University must respect their fellow members in debate regardless of disagreement.
    • Repeated violation of the rule of respect shall result in a ban from the University.
  • Satire and trolling is not a right, it is a privilege.
    • The use of satire to justify violations of the Code of Decorum shall not be tolerated, and the Chancellor and Deans retain the right to ban certain satirical content.
    • Repeated violation of this ban shall result in a ban from the University.
  • The promotion of hateful ideologies or principles, including, but not limited to, sexism, racism, fascism, and nazism is banned in full from all media of the University.
    • Violation of this rule shall result in a ban from the University.
  • Discussion within the University shall be of academic fervor and caliber and immaturity shall not be tolerated.
    • Repeated violation of this rule shall result in a ban from the University.
