Glad you asked,

As a confederation, Koreska is composed of 18 semi-independent island-states, each state is thus represented by a star, equal in size to each other star, as no state is more important or more in power than any other. The middle black stripe symbolizes our nation’s struggle to achieve our freedom during the Koreskain Civil War, and acknowledges the heavy price we paid for that freedom. The three pointed compass rose, aside from referencing our nautical heritage, symbolizes our nations exploration and expansion in the three areas of Scientific Advancement, Military Prowess, and Cultural Development (or Spiritual Refinement depending on who is asked.) The other stripes and coloration were purely aesthetic.
