Historical Summary:
For most of history, Dalaka was a region of city-states that thrived on trade. They routinely resisted integration from outsiders and expanded their trade influence as much as they could in their region.
During 1942, however, the city-state of Polomid, the most powerful in the region, open a convention for creating a union, after a long era of trade falling off due to industrial modernization, from which the city-states had been lacking. Utilizing its superior position, Polomid strong-armed the other-city states using both shows of force and bribes, and negotiations finished the following year. Polomid immediately started forcing modernization programs on the other city-states, trying to grow the industrial sector to compete in the modern world, as well as furthering the exploitation of resources. During this era, Polomid also expanded its professional military througout the new nation, creating a formidable force for its size.
During March of 2012, Dalaka invaded neighboring Brimid, which had abstained from joining the union, citing the long discrimination of the elves there on the humans in the region. The invasion lasted for 8 months and resulted in Brimid’s total annexation and forced integration into the union.
