Dark days in Vladistock

Tonights breaking news!

Vladenktsy Assassinated!

The country is in shock today, as the death of Prime Minister Vladenktsy was confirmed. This morning, Zubris Vladenktsy’s personal vehicle exploded moments after entering. The PM had denied the traditional luxuries of Vladistock leaders, such as numerous body guards and an armored limousine. VNN interviewed a few of the witnesses…

There was… was this big explosion and some people went flying, we didn’t even know who was in the car! Our country has seen so much bloodshed, and we thought it was over, and that democracy was valued here… trails off sobbing

You knows who’ze it was dontye? 'Cause aye do. the man looks around nervously It was remainziz of da Dictator’s regime… dere’s no way zay got all dose special ops and comisszars. I seen em bafore, all shifty like…

While it is unclear just who is responsible for the tragedy, the parliament is in an uproar over Vice Prime Minister Alexei Sharposev taking power, a man seen by many as too inexperienced to lead the nation. An election will probably be called soon, but it is unlikely that the MSM (Modern Socialist Movement) will lose many seats after receiving 63% of the popular vote in the last election. The leading opposition party, DRU (Democratic Reformation Union, led by Igor Chernye) had only 13% of the vote. More to come as the story develops.

North Vimygrad

Main Assembly Chamber

“…There’s just no way he can lead this nation into a new age, Vladenktsy was the only one capable of leading that party. He founded it, he united it, and has fallen, it’s time to move on!”
The chambers erupt in a rabble as the MP of Jakobograd sits back down, representatives yell angrily at each other for a while until the speaker quiets them down…

“The house now recognizes the MP of Vladremont.”

“AHEM… thank you. I am in agreement with Mr. Pilavsky, however we must not let the nation slide once more, I say we have an election and let the people once again decide. I vote non-confidence in Mr. Sharposev!”
The chamber once again erupts with argument and the speaker is barely able to keep control. The deliberations go on for days, and parliamentary procedure grinds to a halt while the government decides what to do. No provisions were made in the constitution for Assassination, except that the role of Prime Minister would be taken over by the governing party’s choice leader, which nobody seems to accept.

Meanwhile, in the countryside a middle-aged mayor and former political officer of the old regime makes speeches to crowds of suburban and rural citizens, vowing to restore order and peace in Vladistock. The grassroots movement is effective, and the name Viktor Klevchenko becomes a household name…

The two leaders of the socialist state of Vekaiyu, Selvala McEva and Todd Leyuski, offer their deepest condolences. An official report has yet to be filed by the V3 news services.

The government of Anglic Jutland shares your sadness in losing your leader, we hope that you can keep your way in these dark and trying times.

Liberty City - The Blue House
Press Briefing Room

Blue House Communications Director John Goett took a breath after completing the standard “hi, sit down, wait until the end to ask questions,” portion of the daily media conference. The man did love speaking with the press, especially during the formal briefings, but he disliked having to start with bad news.

“Prime Minister Zubris Vladenktsy of Vladistock Island was killed last night in an attack in North Vimygrad. It is unclear at this time who was behind the assassination but the Prime Minister will be sorely missed. On behalf of the President, I want to offer the sincerest condolences of the staff of the Blue House to the people of Vladistock Island, and wish the best to its government in this time of crisis. The Federated Alliance has no embassy in Vladistock at this time, so an informal representative of the Free Pacific States will be contacting the Vladistockian foreign minister to offer aide.”

“Speaking of helping, President Kroidrik today signed…”

"…these governments will not be able to meet their own needs with their population. Difficulties in industrial production will inevitably develop, made more serious because they will affect not only one state, but a large number of states in The East Pacific. Increasing competition will naturally force these states to use ever sharper weapons until one day the sharpest economic weapons will give way to the sharpness of the sword; that is, when a healthy nation faces the last either-or, and despite the greatest diligence cannot withstand the competition, it will reach for the sword because the question of life is always the problem about which life turns. It is a question of power.

The first way to satisfy this need, the adjustment of territory to population, is the most natural, healthy and long-lasting. We must however conclude when considering this first or second way that the foundation is power, always power. Power is also a part of economic struggles. Power is the prerequisite to earth and soil. We can see that today. Even the sorrowful effort to adjust the population to the available territory by encouraging the emigration of new generations requires power, even more today as states hermetically seal themselves from the immigration of uncomfortable elements. The more economic difficulties increase, the more immigration will be seen as a burden. The so-called workers’ states seal themselves off more than others as a way of building a protective wall against cheap labor. The newcomer after all must be either cheaper or better. Here too one comes to the conclusion that maintaining this way of supporting the population requires power…"

Excerpt from a speech by Viktor Klevchenko, currently unaffiliated with an officially recognized political party, he is expected to run independent or to create a new party, something he has hinted at in some of his speeches. Other parties are led more or less by typical politicians, unable to motivate or move an audience in a way that Klevchenko can.

The Office of the Executor of State (perpetually provisional) of Mallumo has offered its most sincere condolences during this time. Furthermore, any offered assistance is fully opened unto you.
