“Hello, and welcome to The East Pacific”

That is what we were able to say to 23 of you in December (up until the 29[sup]th[/sup]). And that is a lot more than in the November.
Today, December the 29[sup]th[/sup], 229 Users on the forum have the Citizen-status. Our region in NationStates contains 7019 nations – making us the second-largest region. So, there are still up to 6790 nations who could become citizens. And I wrote “up to” on purpose, because some of those may belong to one person controlling multiple nations (aka “puppets”). So, let us look at the number of WA-members. Only one of your nations may be member of the World Assembly. This is controlled and verified by NationStates itself. Today, in The East Pacific there are 784 WA-members, meaning at least 555 of you still have not claimed your citizenship.

“What is this Citizenship?”, you may wonder.
Well, having your nation in our region, [region=The East Pacific], is a good start. But that makes you a resident. Our region however, is a democracy. NationStates isn’t. For instance, the nation with the most endorsements is in-game the Delegate. Like with probably most regions, there is a whole, deeper layer, of TEP, that controls this, by creating laws et cetera. This is done on our forum and that is also where you can become a Citizen. But the forum is not only used for that, but there is also a lot of fun. There is a The Lounge - The East Pacific - Tapatalk where you can … well … lounge. And there’s an The Arcade - The East Pacific - Tapatalk where you can watch, for instance, our current Delegate [nation=Marrabuk] fighting with [nation=A Slanted Black Stripe] (a former Delegate and TEP Hero) over who gets the last word, and you could join them in that fight. Or you could tell a blatant lie about yourself, or say something about the one posting before or after you. Also, there is a forum based Role Play section Urth's Evolved Multiverse - The East Pacific - Tapatalk. (I don’t know anything about that. Contact our RP Officer [nation=Asendavia] for more information on that.) And if you prefer a faster paced interaction, you could also join our Discord server.
If you want to interact with your fellow region mates, then the first thing you should do (after the obvious having a nation inside our region of course), is become a Citizen. Citizenship is free of charge, but has a lot to offer. For instance you get to vote our next Delegate, every four months. You’ll be able to join our Ministries, or the Magisterium, or even become our next Delegate. NationStates is about politics, but you can take it so many levels further than just answering issues.
To become a Citizen, simply click on the link or enter https://tep.li/citizenship in your browser, and follow the instructions given there. It really isn’t that hard. Within a few days after you have applied, I (or someone else from the Ministry of Immigration, or someone from the Citizenship Committee) will answer to your application. After we accepted the application, a final check will be made by the forum administrators, who will then, if everything was okay, mask you a Citizen. So, without further ado, head over to the forum and get your citizenship today!

Looking back on our Ministry’s goals for December

For this December I set out two main goals. You may have found them as a pinned topic in https://tep.li/immigration and as a pinned message in our Discord channel #immigration.

  1. The first goal was to continue and increase advertising Citizenship.
Regarding the first goal, I can say that we have continued citizenship though I dare not say if we have increased it or not. Due to all this month’s festivities, we may have ended up equally to last month. Nevertheless, the amount of approved citizens has still increased – maybe also due to this month’s holidays. All-in-all, I’d say we have achieved this goal, more or less.
  2. The second goal was to get, or create, a maintained list of Citizens, or at least of modifications in the number of Citizens. This goal was also more or less achieved. I received an official and updated list, as used for Delegate elections. It looks to me though that this list isn’t updated daily or weekly and therefore I mentioned the amount of forum users with the Citizen-status again, further up in this dispatch.

Looking ahead to January

The ministry’s goals for January are going to be the same as for December:

  1. Continue and increase advertising Citizenship.

  2. Get, or create, a maintained list of Citizens, or at least of modifications in the number of Citizens.

Furthermore, I will postpone/prolong what I have written previous month about the Movement in The East Pacific, to January. Hopefully I can tell you more in my next dispatch.
