Prologue
North Westmore is absolutely horrible when it comes to mental health needs and care. For example, the country on average has over 2 million people with depression each year, and may experience up to 800 suicides a year of that 2 million. Of that 800, it is estimated that at least 567 of those suicides are carried out by people on the gay spectrum.
A harrowing statistic, but why? Why do so many gay people die in North Westmore?
Well, while North Westmore is largely accepting and tolerant of homosexual people, one thing the nation is incredibly bad at is dealing with the mental health needs of such people in their society (though in general, and as mentioned before, North Westmore’s mental healthcare is incredibly abysmal.) For many gay people in the country, they are left unable to find suitable help for any problems they may face about their sexuality, their gender identity or what have you. Ultimately, without the proper help they need, many gay people in North Westmore often end up descending further and further into a mental slippery slope as their mood and unrectified internal conflicts worsen…
Which in the most drastic of situations, can lead to them taking their own lives.
