An Act to establish a standard time for the region
Preamble
WHEREAS the region of the East Pacific covers many different time zones; and,
WHEREAS Universal Coordinated Time is a widely used time standard and therefore of most practical value to the region; and,
SEEKING to avoid confusion in the time used in communications;
NOW THEREFORE, the Magisteral Assembly enacts as follows.
Establishment of standard time
- (1) The official time standard for the East Pacific shall be Universal Coordinated Time, also known by the abbreviation UTC.
(2) Universal Coordinated Time is to be used in all official documents and communications of the East Pacific regional government, and all agencies thereof.
- (1) Nothing in this Act precludes or prevents the use of any other time zone or system of time measurement.
(2) Where time other than Universal Coordinated Time is utilised by the East Pacific regional government, the use of the non-official time standard must be made clear.
Coming into effect
- This Act shall come into effect on March 1, 2007.
