XKI Update

Political Events

March was a very busy month in XKI politics.

  • Two elections were held in March for the Senate, and the Delegate election was held as well.

  • In the Senate, Paffnia ran for re-election for Lyonesse East. His opponent Robloxica managed to collect 20 votes, but Paffnia’s 52 vote total proved to be too much to surmount. Paffnia thus retained his seat with a plurality.

-In Himes West, things were much closer. Walabama vacated his seat to run for Delegate, thus leaving the Himes West seat open. The Islands Party Primary was won by Ater Nox. In the General Election, he faced Independent candidates Aersoldorf and Glasgia. Under XKI election statutes, a candidate must win by a minimum of 50%, or else a runoff will result. Thus, Aersoldorf and Ater Nox faced each other in the region’s second consecutive run-off. In the runoff, Aersoldorf prevailed by a 14 vote margin.

-The Delegate race featured a group of well known Islanders. Ananke, Walabama, and Shizensky all vied for the Delegate seat. Ananke prevailed by a large margin over the other candidates, thus winning the Delegate’s seat.

Taco Island

While Shelter from the Storm tend to be a popular guy it seems like not everyone agree with how he’s running Taco Island. A topic dealing with his http://10000islands.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=Entertainment&action=display&thread=22940&page=1 was recently posted and have already garnered 6 pages of discussion. At this point in time it seems to have morphed into a vanity thread for Major Shelter though.

  • TITO has successfully defended 1737 nations to date. April defenses include: The Skeleton Army, Norway, Norway Lockup, Western Europe, Pacific and Death Star.
  • New TITO members this month are Not A Sossidge, Calanria, Zegenas and Barrarabia. We look forward to defending beside them.
  • Ater Nox and Surdra were awarded the coveted title of TITO Knight in April. They exemplify the dedication and wherewithal that is a hallmark of those who have been admitted to the Chamber of TITO Knights!
  • TITO Executive Officer Ad Infinitum created a new Refound Pin for TITO nations who have participated in a refounding mission.
  • Ad Infinitum also completed a major overhaul and recategorization of all of TITO’s awards.
  • TITO Field Commander Improving Wordiness became a Knight Legion Commander with 300+ battle stars.

  • During the traditional NS April’s Fool, which this year included a fictional IPO 10ki nations quickly decided to cede their shares to Grub, who ended up being 6 in the NationStates | IPO Share Offer of top shareholders with 1,641,826 shares. Much fun was had by everyone, especially those who flooded Nationstates with newly resurrected puppet nations.
  • The Recruiting Team is rocking the Islands with its continued work. IMM shares are now trading at 44 Tacos, the highest level in nearly a year.
  • In the University, a debate on http://10000islands.proboards.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=xkiecondept&thread=23009 is underway, and there have been great points made on both side of this issue.
  • When the Most World Assembly Endorsements ranking hit on May 5 Ananke II held the top spot in the World, while all in all 30 10ki nations placed in top 100.
  • Boltor was our winner of the Echolilia Full Throttle Award for the 3rd month in a row, sending out over 5,000 telegrams and recruiting 197 new nations.
  • Aersoldorf was the runner up for the 3rd month in a row, sending out over 1,800 telegrams and bringing in 66 new recruits.
  • We had 20 recruiters total, and we collectively sent out 13,186 telegrams. 451 new nations joined our region in the month of April.
  • Woonsocket is not only a decorated war hero, TITO Knight, former Minister of Immigration, but he has now recruited over 2000 new nations into our region. He is the first nation in our region to accomplish this task and hereby has been awarded the Iwerddon Accelerated Recruitment Medal.
  • The Islands joyfully celebrated Anime Daisuki Day on April 13 and Fleeb Day on April 28.

Hi folks, I’ve been appointed as the new Emissary to TEP. My name is Aersoldorf and I am the Senator for the Himes West district of 10KI. I look forward to getting to know you all. Political Events

  • It’s primary season again in the Islands. The primary races for the Senate Seats for Lyonesse East and Himes West are underway and the General Election for those seats will be held in July. There are a lot of very qualified candidates, so this promises to be a historic election with high turnout expected.
  • Paffnia has announced that he will not be seeking re-election, so the Lyonesse East seat is going to be up for grabs this election. Paff has served two terms and has done a wonderful job overseeing the House system in the Islands. He was originally elected in the Fall of 2011 in one of the closest races in XKI history. Running against Malecia, that race also broke the record for voter turnout. Paff has exemplified the kind of service that XKI Senators provide. In addition to overseeing the House System, he was charged with writing the monthly Senate Report, and updating the XKI Calendar as well as picking the Rookie of the Quarter. Thanks to Paffnia for his service and good luck in all future endeavors!

Taco Island

  • Werewolves 15 concluded. The game had a “Tron: Legacy” theme. Werewolves were called CLUs, and the “good guys” were called users. After 70 pages of posts and some pretty unique strategies, the users were eliminated and Malecia was the sole remaining CLU, giving the win to the CLUs.
  • Werewolves 16 has already begun. This game has taken on a theme drawn from Halo Combat evolved. The good guys are the ODSTs, and the bad guys are the Flood.

  • In addition, TITO was called on to help liberate the region Gargantuan. Led by Field Commander Wordy, the troops of the Finest Fighting Force in Nationstates entered Gargantuan with practiced precision and seized control from the invading force. The natives of the region have already expressed their gratitude to TITO for returning to the rightful citizens control of their region, and ejecting the raiders.

  • Executive Officer Ad Infinitum has added the following nations to the TITO roster: Ivenoo3, Rainbow Union, and Globexanter (reinstated). Welcome to all our new TITO members and we look forward to seeing you out there fighting the good fight.

  • On 10000 Islands, Tactical Officer Eist ran a game called Resistance, in which players try to spy and sabotage enemies trying to achieve specific objectives. The spies were victorious thanks to some savvy play.

  • July has been a very exciting month for the Department of Education as it saw changes to the buddy program. The new changes will now allow buddies to be allocated to nations, who have confirmed their accounts, automatically. This will allow buddies to assist nations and hopefully lead to more nations remaining on the forum! The new nations will not be forced to participate and may cease contact at any time. These changes have also allowed us to recruit more buddies! It is my pleasure to welcome Land, Hoodhat, MinnaCaroline and Aersoldorf to the program!

Land Without People has won Game 17, which was based on “Death Note.” WW 18 will be based on “The Warriors.” The Warriors is a 1965 book by Sol Yurick, which is in turn based on the 10000, group of mercenaries in the epic tale Anabasis who have to fight their way across hostile territory to return to the plains of Hellas. In The Warrriors, the group is a street gang that has to fight their way back to Coney Island from a gang conclave in The Bronx.

Political Events

  • Elections were held for the Senate seats for New Republica South and Blue Canaria North, and for Delegate to the World Assembly.

  • Defender Party founder Valoniah declined to run for reelection to the NRS seat. Hoodhat, representing The Islands Party, ran against Defender Party candidate Aqauvina for the NRS seat. When the polls closed, Hoodhat had accumulated 49 votes to Aquavina’s 16, making Hoodhat the new senator for New Republica South.

-The election for BCN featured incumbent Malecia, representing The Islands Party, against Greek People Nation, who ran as an Independent. The final tally was 64 votes for Malecia versus 8 for GPN. Thus, Malecia has retained his seat.

-In the election for Delegate, the Anime Daisuke ran unopposed, capturing 70 votes.

September was a very busy month for the troops and commanders of the Finest Fighting Force in NationStates

TITO has now defended over 1800 nations to date. The 20 battles that were fought this month included:

Anarchy 2, Burgundia, The Galaxy Liberation, The Heart, Atheist Empire, PoliticsBE, NortheastShooterStan 4, The Spinward Marches, Sydney 1, E FEDeration Knights, Pacific 5, The Heart 2, Elite Conservative Circuit, Marijuana, Cackalackey, Vorlon, Silvana Skins, Internet and Liberal Haven.

-Our fearless commander Improving Wordiness reached the milestone of 350 battlestars and became a Knight Armada Commander, reaching 3rd on the battlestar count behind only legends Titanica and Anime Daisuki.
-Sir Surdra made Knight Commander with 100 stars, becoming one of the fastest knights to reach this position.
-Malecia and Escanaba earned their 50th battlestars, making them the 62d and 63d TITO Knights respectively. While Malecia has been a member of TITO for two years, Escanaba has only been with TITO since March of 2012. Thus, he was awarded with the coveted title of Knight faster than anyone in XKI history.

Ananke II hit a NS record of over 950 endorsements shortly before her term was up as Delegate. Elsewhere in the region, the XKI Lottery company is running a 1 million taco drawing, this is the largest winning pot ever offered in the region’s history.

Political Events
A new nation by the name of United Federation of Canada caused a minor storm in the WA this month, trying to liberate http://www.nationstates.net/region=gargantuan and then pressure it’s delegate Reagan Island leaving Gargantuan for alleged dictatorship behavior. Both actions were not supported by the 10000 Islands Government and TITO. Delegate Anime Daisuki made a post stating clear our opposition to UFC’s meddling in another region’s affairs. UFC has since left the islands before actions could be taken against him.

Separately, TITO Knight NationStates | The Big Bull of Woonsocket was appointed Foreign Affairs Secretary of 10000 Islands. He will help the Delegate in taking care of the State Department and overseeing the various emissaries.

  • Werewolves 19 was played. This edition featured a twist in which the villagers were the bad guys and the werewolves were the good guys. The bad guys won by eliminating all the werewolves and suffering no losses.

  • Werewolves 20 is now underway. This edition is patterned after the re-imagined Battlestar Galactica. The Cylons are the werewolves and the Colonials are the villagers.

Two elections were held in November. The seast for Himes West and Lyonesse East were up for grabs. In the Himes West race, incumbent Aersoldorf ran against New Ecopia and Kanaia. Incumbent Aerso was re-elected comfortably, retaining his Council Seat.

In the Lyonesse East race, Calanria running unopposed received 45 votes.

  • Werewolves 20 was played. This edition was modeled on the re-imagined “Battlestar Galactica” television show. The show as critically acclaimed and won a Peabody award in 2004. The game featured the villagers as Colonial Fleet and the Werewolves as the Cylons. The Cylons were airlocked in short order by the Colonial Fleet.

WW21 is now underway with a poker theme. The good guys managed to kill one of the bad guys on day 1 and haven’t suffered a single loss to this point.

Two elections were held in January. In the Blue Canaria North race, Malecia, running unopposed, was elected with 32 of 34 votes cast, or 94% of the ballot.

In the race for the seat for New Republica South, Hoodhat declined to run for re-election thus leaving the seat open. Running unopposed, 3Lit3 was elected with 23 of 29 votes cast or 79% of the vote.
