[Embassy] Greater Dienstad

Greetings to the region of TEP!

I am the Free Republic of Lamoni, WA Delegate of Greater Dienstad, and ambassador to Equilism, TEP, and (whenever they approve our embassy) to TNP, as well. I have been commended by the World Assembly Security Council’s resolution number 100, and i’m also an RP Mentor. I helped GD to host the 2015 NSWF, and have already met certain TEP members, who I am friends with. Todd McCloud, and Xoriet spring immediately to mind in this regard, though i’m certain that i’ve missed others.

I’m generally a pretty nice guy, so please feel free to ask me any questions which you might have, and i’ll respond to them as best I can. Hopefully this embassy is just the beginning of GD-TEP relations, and we can both move forward from there!

Embassy of Greater Dienstad to TEP

Welcome to Greater Dienstad’s Embassy to the region of The East Pacific.

This Embassy is intended to serve as a point of contact between our two regions, as well as allowing Greater Dienstad to answer any questions which you might have about our region, our members, and roleplaying itself. We hope that an embassy exchange will allow both sides to get to know each other better, and thus have our already friendly relations grow stronger.

— Begin quote from ____

Greater Dienstad is the quasi-reincarnation of Imperial Armies, with its own twist and with its own image. The region is a hodge podge group of nations with vastly different clients and cultures; the region was founded and recognized as a region post-bellum (War of Golden Succession). Anybody can join!

— End quote

Greater Dienstad was founded during the War of Golden Succession by the Second Empire of the Golden Throne as a “replacement” to Imperial Armies, which some considered had died during the internal demise of Guffingford. Greater Dienstad is best known for its larger powers, including the Second Empire of the Golden Throne, Hailandkill, Stevid, and various others. It’s also known for the dozens of landscapes which are so un-naturally linked together in the region, including massive and sprawling rainforests spawning next to extensive deserts. The emergence of polar environments so close to each other, and with no apparent explanation, has also led to the growth of multiple cultures and nations in the islands that make up the region.

Etymology

The origin of the region’s name is as much a power play as anything else. During the War of Golden Succession one of the powerful players, Guffingford, fell apart due to Divine Intervention. God, benevolent as he is saw Guffingford to be a most defying force and the showdown was, against the wishes of the world a farce instead of a reckoning. The result was a vacuum, and it was not long before the other superpowers of the region worked to reorganize it to their liking. In the end it was the Second Empire of the Golden Throne which succeeded, renaming the region Greater Dienstad as a manifestation of their attempt to stamp the region as their own backyard. It succeeded, albeit post-war, and most of the nations by the end of the war accepted the regional name although it didn’t necessarily mean that they agreed to an Imperial hegemony over the region. Nevertheless, Greater Dienstad had stuck. Originally, Dienstad was the core of the Empire, although the capital was moved to Fedala after the Great Civil War and it signifies Imperial power. For that very reason it becomes an ideal option for the renaming of a region which is supposedly under the guidance of the Second Empire, even if it’s not necessarily true. But until the next major regional war it does not seem as things are going to be changing very soon.

The word Dienstad comes from the God Dientór, old God of War of an ancient kingdom known as Manaleth during the pre history of the region, which occupied roughly the area of modern Dienstad. The Empire has been destroyed and created twice from war. It would only be an apt title!

History

The history of Greater Dienstad begins in the year 2016 (according to the (in-character) Imperial Calendar) during the War of Golden Succession, which begun in May of that year. The region was previously known as Imperial Armies, founded by Guffingford. However, in July 2016 Guffingford collapsed under the weight of war, foreign pressure and internal disturbances. The effect was catastrophic, lengthening the war and expanding it through the entire region and abroad. Gerfanlich, the only independent kingdom of the Old Empire to survive the Great Civil War, was emboldened to jump into the war, and Stevid and Independent Hitmen suddenly focused their efforts to dismember the Second Empire of the Golden Throne. It would only be a matter of weeks before New Empire, Jagada and others joined against the Empire as well. In an attempt to show its allies that it was still strong the Empire took the liberty to reorganise the region under its wings, whether or not its enemies recognised the effort. Nevertheless, by the end of the war the region had without a doubt become Greater Dienstad and most nations of Imperial Armies had recognised the change.

Geography

Greater Dienstad’s geography is similar to that of most regions; a hodgepodge of islands. Most nations in Greater Dienstad are island nations, but several have land borders.

Climate

Greater Dienstad’s climate varies from tropical rain forest, to desert, to alpine.

Welcome to The East Pacific.

As you’re most likely already aware, I’m Lord Ravenclaw elsewhere, Raven here. Joshua Ravenclaw at the NSWF, where I represented the Kingdom of Alexandria of which I am Founder, and was on a hiatus from being Head of State, but resumed the throne before the Fair ended.

Currently I am the Minister of Foreign Affairs for The East Pacific; I was Minister of Foreign Affairs for The North Pacific until September when I handed the reigns to Myroria, who I’ve poked about your TNP embassy request.

~R

Thank you, Raven. That should prove very helpful indeed.

Welcome to the office of Lamoni Today! We are the official national and international newspaper of the Free Republic of Lamoni, bringing news from the Free Republic, Greater Dienstad, and beyond, straight to your doorstep!

The Newspaper

Lamoni Today is a national Lamonian daily newspaper published by the Falcon Company. It was founded by James Newharth on September 15, 1982. The newspaper has the position of having the widest circulation of any newspaper in Lamoni, something it has held since 2003.

Lamoni Today is distributed in all of the Lamonian states, the Lamonian capitol city of Nephi, as well as in other nations who have friendly relations with Lamoni. There is also a full online edition. The newspaper has its headquarters in Hvarten, Lamoni. Currently, Lamoni Today sells for 1 Rushanna in newsstands; however, it is often found free at hotels and airports that distribute it to their customers.

Lamoni Today is known for synthesizing news down to easy-to-read-and-comprehend stories. In the main edition seen in Lamoni, each edition consists of four sections: News, Money, Sports, and Life. The international edition of the paper features two sections: News and Money in one; with Sports and Life in the other.

The paper does not print on Saturdays and Sundays. Lamoni Today prints each complete story on the front page of the respective section with the exception of the cover story. The cover story is a longer story that requires a jump (readers must turn to another page in the paper to complete the story, usually the next page of that section). On certain days, the news or sports section will take up two paper sections, and there will be a second cover story within the second section.

Each section is denoted by a certain color to differentiate sections beyond lettering and is seen in a box the top-left corner of the first page, with News being blue (section A), Money with green (section B), red for Sports (section C), and purple for Life (section D).

In many ways, Lamoni Today is set up to break the typical newspaper layout. Some examples of that divergence from tradition include using the left-hand quarter of each section as reefers, sometimes using sentence-length blurbs to describe stories inside. It is also the only paper in Lamoni to utilize the Gulliver font, which is used for both headlines and stories.

Being a national newspaper, Lamoni Today cannot focus on the weather for any one city. Therefore, the entire back page of the News section is used for weather maps and temperature lists for the entire Free Republic of Lamoni and many cities throughout the world, with data provided by Lamoni Today meteorologists. In the bottom left-hand corner of the weather page is a graphic called “Weather Focus,” which explains different meteorological phenomena. On some days, the Weather Focus could be a photo of a rare meteorological event.

One of the staples of the News section is a state-by-state roundup of headlines. The summaries consist of paragraph-length reports highlighting one story of note in each state, and Nephi.

Some traditions have been retained, however. The lead story still appears on the upper-right hand of the front page. Commentary and political cartoons occupy the last few pages of the News section. Stock and mutual fund data are presented in the Money section. But Lamoni Today is sufficiently different in aesthetics to be recognized on sight, even in a mix of other newspapers, such as at a newsstand. The overall design and layout of Lamoni Today has been described as both neo-Victorian and Impressionist.

Opinion Section

The opinion section prints Lamoni Today editorials, columns by guest writers and members of the Board of Contributors, letters to the editor, and editorial cartoons. One unique feature of the Lamoni Today editorial page is the publication of opposing points of view alongside the editorial board’s piece on the day’s topic runs an opposing view by a guest writer, often an expert in the field.

Dienstadi Embassy in The East Pacific Opens, Dienstadi influence expands!

Lamoni Today

With all due pomp and circumstance, the Greater Dienstadi embassy to the region of The East Pacific opened today, further enhancing the already friendly relations between the two regions. Present at the official ribbon cutting ceremony was Lamonian President Andrew Stinson, who gave a speech dedicating the embassy to interregional goodwill, improved interregional relations, and the spirit of peaceful resolution of disputes. The opening of the embassy in The East Pacific is the second move in a Dienstadi initiative to improve relations with other regions, with the Dienstadi consulate in the region of Equilism being the first major success of this new opening up of Dienstadi Foreign Policy, which has been long overdue. Greater Dienstad has also reached out to request an embassy in the region of The North Pacific, but no response has been dispatched to Greater Dienstad from The North Pacific at this time.

The new Dienstadi embassy building is a modern, multi-story affair, with full Urthquake, fire, and other emergency measures incorporated into the building’s design. Whilst being a major diplomatic hub, the embassy grounds also include such finishing touches as a vegetable garden, outdoor basketball court, and an outdoor Koi pond, all of these measures to help ensure that the embassy staff have recreational activities available during their off-duty hours.

While Dienstadi-TEP relations were viewed as positive in a Dienstadi poll before the embassy was approved, the embassy is seen as a concrete sign of the desire of both parties to improve relations, and many are wondering when, or if, The East Pacific will establish an embassy or consulate in Greater Dienstad.

On behalf of Greater Dienstad, I would officially like to welcome the newly established http://z10.invisionfree.com/GreaterDienstad/index.php?showforum=18 on the Greater Dienstad forums. It is our hope that this embassy exchange will lead to a greater future for both of our regions, as well as increased communications.

This is the Embassy Thread for the region Greater Dienstad.
