We have recently heard of your invasion and occupation of islands to your south. The Oan people are highly sensitive to the invasion, occupation and oppression of native people and their ancestral land. The scars of Staynish colonisation and slavery are still ripe in the minds of many of our people. Your government’s actions regardless of the justification you have provided will be seen as a disproportionate mass punishment for the crime of a few. Worst of all will be seen with the same bitterness and contempt that the Staynish colonisation is seen with. If our people are angry, it will severely damage relations between our nations. In our political system they have the power to make law, and nothing will unify them more than the perceived occupation of innocent people and our government’s continued business with the perceived occupiers.
Our investments in your nation will be strained by domestic political pressure and market instability that an attack of this nature can precipitate. With the Al-Jaheed on our doorstep, your invasion of these islands will catalyse popular dissent. We will be forced to take rather mutually damaging actions. We do not want to embarrass you or ourselves by condemning you, especially before the ACA. We do not want to halt investment projects or impose sanctions. These will be financially damaging.
If you wish to annex the islands, that is of your own accord. But we must require that your state extend a lavish conciliatory “olive branch” to these people, for only disaster can follow if you do not.

That unity comes with a unity of purpose and belief. The challenge to that unity is that the nations on Aurora do not have a united purpose nor a united set of beliefs. Reconciling the broken relations between us will be very difficult. We always emerge out of a war on opposite sides lf the table. Rather than pursuing a hypocritical union, perhaps we should pursue economic and diplomatic steps to one day (in the future) achieve a united continent.
