Just started with the 14 day trial today, my cousin offered to help me with it in the early stages and helped me with my character “build”. I wondered, who else on here plays EVE? I think I remember Dann playing it…
So, if people do play Eve, any tips or advice for a noob?
Yes. I do play EVE. Though not as much as I used to, due to work.
As for hints. Find a player corp. Making friends can be very helpful.
Also, avoid any system with a security level below 0.5 until you are confident, have some skills trained to at least level 4 and have a corp capable of handling low security space.
Go grind missions. Lots of them. Eventually the standings will help with things like refining minerals, not just for making money.
Don’t go taking on player characters without some PvP practice and skills training. If you try to fight them now, most player pirates will laugh at your peashooter and probably kill you by just tapping your hull…
Check each of the ships bonuses to see what you can fit onto them for an effective ship fitting. The ships all have their own special bonuses when it comes to weaponry e.g. range bonus to railguns, damage bonus to laser etc. Check what each ship is capable of fielding and fit weapons that best fit this.
Finally, keep an up to date clone. Any skills you train will be lost if you don’t. Unlike WoW, in EVE, if you get killed, it has a massive impact on your character, including loss of skills. So keep an up to date clone.
I saw some kind of war happen near a space station in 0.9 space and Concord appeared before the “aggressor” even got off a second shot. And yeah, my ship is crappy compared to half the other people out there…
The interface is a little tricky to get your head around at first but it’s not particularly complicated, just different.
I think I want to go with electronic warfare so I think I might get a Maulus Frigate (I think that’s the name, I looked it up…).
As for a corporation, I joined one (if they accepted me) so hopefully that’ll be a decision for the best… I think they mentioned wanting to go into “0 security space” because it has the best materials to mine so hopefully I won’t be part of that expedition, just yet atleast.

I understand what you mean, it can be really slow and boring, especially if you’re not in an active corp. Ares? Hmm, don’t know that one…
I’ve just updated to a Thorax Cruiser, hopefully before this week is over I should be in a Myrmidon BattleCruiser… Maybe. I love Drones. lol.
It’s a Gallente frigate; the entire port side, including the bridge, is stapled to the rest of the ship by a piece of metal that’s no more than ten metres thick, by my guess. My first thought when I saw this was “Oh dear. This could hurt.”
I looked up what you mean… And I agree! There are quite a few ships like that… Some of the Minmatar ships look like they’re about to just disintergrate.
