Eyjarheim’s province leader, Henrik Cear, faces vote of non-confidence

22/07/2021|12:03

In the midst of a tsunami destruction in Northern part of Eyjarheim and up becoming provincal election in October, province leader of Eyjarheim, Henrik Cear is now facing a vote of non-confidence from his provincal parliament. An vote that been forth by the local Farmer’s Party and Social Democratic Labour Pary, who has blamed Henrik Cear for relocating funds that was meant to the coastal warning systems to rather be relocated to law enforcement. With prime minister Kjolf Bardsen, leader of the Farmer’s Party, stated situsation within Eyjarheim would been far worse if it was not for the already mobilised Homeguard helping with emergency evacuations.

Despite Henrik Cear and his Libetarian People’s Party immense growth in popularity back in 2010, with its anti-establishment and low taxes rhetoric, it has lost a lot of its popularity in last few years. Despite Henrik’s promises back in 2016 on big economic growth within Eyjarheim, the province is still slowest out of all provinces in Eyjaria in economic growth, which won him the seat of province leader. His party also got a lot criticism for a sex scandal he was involved in back in 2017. Back in 2016 40% of Eyjarheim’s citizens showed their support to Henrik Cear’s party, now most oppinion polls show his party to be only around 20% support.

Our reporters has tried contacting Henrik Cear on his thoughts of the situsation, but none has yet to come.

We shall update the situsation as it continues.

Staynish Intrests Party change name after power struggle

24/07/2021

As the election edge of so ever closer, Province leader of Sørheim, Korgan Lemeric has announced that his politcal party the Staynish Intrests Party shall be renamed the Serinia Independence Party. The change has come after long power struggle between his radical faction and moderate faction lead by Sigurd Johnson. After the announcement of the change of name, Sigurd Johnson announce him leaving the party. Stating: “I have spendt 15 years in this party, in which i campaigned along side my fellow Staynish brothers and sisters for i more equal Eyjaria, in which my children can proudly state themself as Eyjaria while being Staynish, to call themself Eyjarian despite speaking Staynish. That we are allowed to govern ourself more, to find our self determination but never in risk of our own morality and spirit with our other brothers. I no longer see that within that party, not as long as sir Lemeric is in charge. During his time he changed our party to advocate full independce, and to make Staynish the only offical language on Serinia. Instead of chosing peaceful, diplomatic ways of achieving our goals, he has toyed the idea of creating a paramilitary. An “republican guard” you could say. As such if my party keeps guiding itself this way, I have no other moral choice within me then to leave it. Might my fellow brothers and sisters see through Korgan’s lies and deceit.”

Sigurd Johnson explaining why he left.

It has been estimated that 2,000 members left same time as Sigurd Johnson left, making Serinia Independence Party only having 9,000 members left.
Korgan Lemeric when asked to comment about the situsation stated: “Sir Johnson can cry as much as he want, but fact of the matter I. Was. Right. I warned my party if we do not create our own paramilitary then the Samfundsvernet (Society Guard) will keep harashing out, and we can not trust the police funded by Eyjarian state to protect us. We must protect ourself, and that is what i did, With creation of Serinian Republican Guard, we can finally defend ourself, not to mention have a force that when time need to be, help us achieve independence!”

Korgan Lemeric responding to the question.

Social Democratic Labour Party (SDLP) leader, Hilda Cappel, stated quickly that her party would not be against letting Sigurd Johnson into her party, with some experts already stating that this might increase the SDLP chances for electoral victory in Rosaheim.

Prime Minister puts his campaign focus on military and security

24/08/2021|14:51

As provincal election is only 2 months away, all parties in Eyjaria has put certain central focus in their campaigns that they promise to keep to their voter base.
Just today Prime Minister, Kjold Bardsen and his party Bondepartiet/Bændaflokkur (Staynish: Farmers Party) has made a large promise to his voters that he shall ensure to strenghten Eyjaria’s military capabilities and that the military of Eyjaria shall keep everyone within Eyjaria safe no matter if they would live in the largest city or smallest village. With his party motto being “Vi tror på hele Eyjaria.” (Staynish: We belive in all of Eyjaria).

All of this was followed up by the minister of Defence, Jan Bøhlerson, stating to the ENN that: “While my party still support our membership in the UCA and the massive role it plays as deterence for any attack on Eyjaria soil, we still mean that Eyjaria must take better responsibility to having a robust national defence. This has been seen with us promising to increase Eyjaria’s national defence budget to 20 billion UKR (10 billion SHD) by the end of 2023. We must face the reality that Urth has become increasing a more viotile place and within our region we see several threats to our nation’s security. We must be prepared to defend Eyjaria.”

This was also added with recent information the goverment has made public of Eyjaria having commisioned 4 corvettes and 30 new aircraft from the Norgsveltian Arms Company, Ragsberg, which stationed in several nations outside Norgsveldet itself, including Eyjaria. The goverment also announced that increasing of conscription time is also being set in motion so that by 2024 Eyjarian armed forces would have a total military personel of 120k.

Boreyjr is “reunited” with Eyjaria, after confirmation by the Prime Minister

26/08/2021|08:00

Yesterday night Prime Minister, Kjolf Bardsen, held a speech on the island of Boreyjr, confirming that the Island, previously apart of Kyrloth, has been “liberated” and “reunited” with Eyjaria. After a cease fire agreement between Eyjaria and Kyrloth was confirmed. This only after two days ago that his party Bondepartiet/Bændaflokkur (Staynish: Farmers Party) put major focus on the military and security in their election campaign. During his speech yesterday night, he promised that “Never again shall the lands of my people fall into foreign hands!” in which him and the crowd chanted “Long live Eyjaria!” and “United we are once more!”. With many nationalists, many of which come from the far right Samlings Partiet/Safn Partiet (Staynish: Unity Party), praising the prime minister. After the speech the prime minister’s approval ratings remains high and recent oppinion poll has put his party at 37%, an increase of 3% since the oppinion polling in July.  Some political experts stating that this decision to hold the speech in Boreyjr was a tatical attempt to win nationalistic voters before the election in November. Leader of the Serinian Independence Party, Korgan Lemeric, has denounced the speech. Claiming its nationalistic message as a “Threat to the Serinian people.”

Boreyjr has been historicaly been apart of Eyjaria since viking times, however in 1904, when Eyjaria was a simple colony of Morstaybishlia, the Morstaybishlia ceceded the island to the then Borean nation Zreiru’a. However ever since Eyjaria’s independence from Norgsveldet in 1955, the island remained disputed with every Eyjarian goverment since having kept the claim to it. Eyjarian prime minister have announced that referendum over the island shall happen, to clarify to the international community that it is the will of the people to reunite with Eyjaria. The referendum shall be held in the 21st October.

We shall update the situsation as it develops.

Results of the Boreyjr referendum!

22/10/2021|12:30

Yesterday the island of Boreyjr held referendum to become apart of Eyjaria or not, with all the votes counted, 8,945 people voted “Yes” to unite with Eyjaria that being 68,24% of the entire vote. Across Eyjaria we seeing many celebrations for the results, several political experts state this will give big boost to Bondepartiet/Bændaflokkur (Staynish: Farmers Party) in the upcoming provincal election next month. Though despite that there lays uncertainty on how Boreyjr will be administrated. Already, leaders of Vest Øy and Eyjarheim is already debating heavily over which region Boreyjr belongs too. Not to mention within only hours after the votes was tallied up group called “Autonomy for Boreyjr” was formed, demanding that if Boreyjr shall have autonomy in it with its owned devolved parliament. Though most of the movement is made up of Zrei elves that lives on the island, many ethnicaly Eyjarians, be it elves or humans also joined the movement. So far prime minister has only commented that “Everything is being considered”.

However for the leader of the far right party, Samlings Parties/Safnflokkur (Staynish: Unity Party), Tor Avan, any devolved parliament is “Out of the question”. Stating that “Eyjarias problems lays within its federalist structure, it needs to be more centralised and cohesive.” With also stating Boreyjr should become directly controled by the goverment instead, saying it would “make the island far more effective”.

Serinian Independence Party is claiming the referendum must be “rigged”, and is demanding a new referendum to be made. While other parties is stating their pleasure of the results and stated their support in finding common ground with the Autonomy for Boreyjr.

Leaders from several countries like Norgsveldet, Blåskog, Meremaa, Dvalheim, Rikevaarland and many others has congratulated Eyjaria for the results of the Boreyjr referendum and stating “Their relief that Eyjaria is united once more.”

In other news prime minister Kjolf Bardsen has announced that commisioned corvettes has finally come to service into the Eyjarian navy, increasing the total amount of corvettes to 10. In which he promises that further naval build up shall be ensured, in which Eyjarian military expenditure now lays on 18 billion UKR (9 billion SHD) and that Eyjarian navy shall play further role in the region. Prime Minister of Norgsveldet, Johanna Sverdrup has commended Eyjaria for strenghtening its navy stating its big step to ensure security within the region.

Violent crack down on labour protests in Teieleie, Rikevaarland

12/01/2022|15:02

Yesterday evening mass protests errupted in the city of Teieleie within the Confederation of Rikevaarland, after the governor of the city, multibillionaire Cyran Teieleie, stated he will not help workers struggling with the mass power outage that hit the city a week ago as a result of a massive snow storm. Though power has turned back to the wealthier part of the city, and working class districts in the city has not. Orginaly started as simple demand to help turning back power, the protesters now gotten support from the city’s labour unions who is also demanding better worker rights, mininum wage and even questioning the authority of the City Governor. Though the numbers are disputed, around 60k workers has been reported to be currently protesting in Teieleie and city with only around 400k people. Though most videos shown the protesters acting peacefull.

Protesters early this morning

All business has hit a stop in the city as protesters has blocked off several streets around the city with some videos claiming protesters has “occupied” the city’s airport. As a result massive amount of private police forces has been called in to face the protesters, blocking off street access that would lead the protesters to the City-Governor’s palace. Now City-Governor has claimed protesters been armed, and called entire movement an “incurection” has given order to the police to shoot to kill. With videos of police using lethal force to make the protesters back down, many has condemned the decision of the City-Governor, which has resulted with over 200 protesters wounded and 39 killed. Though protesters has dispersed in the eastern parts of the city, the western parts has seen with protesters attacking the police back with local hunting clubs having brought forward their hunting rifles to shoot back.  The number of police that been killed has not been discloused.

Teieleie’s private police
Cyran Teieleie has asked the federal goverment to send military troops to deal with the “incurection”, the federal goverment yet to answer. When asked by our reporters he has claimed that protesters been brought forward by foreign communist influnces, that want too seperate Teieleie from the confederation. He stated in a press conference within the City-Governor Palace, that he shall crush the protesters and bring “law and order” upon Teieleie once more. When asked about possible negotiations, he been heard stated “We do not negotiate with terrorists”. Prime Minister Kjold Bardsen has stated that he supports the protesters right to protest, and urged the city governor to negotiate with the labour unions.

Igar’s geopolitical analysis over the Rodenian Crisis; Part 1

22/02/2022

It is getting clearer and clearer that the current Rodenian Crisis will escalate into full on conflict. If Packilvania ends up unwilling to fully support Rodenia, that means full on intervention, then Rodenia is extremly unlikely to keep Puntalia occupied. Especially that once this conflict starts, UCA, Axdel and Vistaraland can intercept the supplies Packilcania is sending by air. Which Rodenia will be extremely dependent on if they want to even keep fighting for longer than a few months. With a blockade and no fly zone established the coalition forces can completely starve out Rodenia in terms of military supplies. The only other way is through land, but in that department Rodenia is even more out of luck with every single neighbour they have turning their back on them since the Puntalian Crisis in 2020 and chosen a closer relationship with the UCA. As such a military victory in Puntalia is way higher for the coalition forces, especially as the huge majority of Rodenia forces must be kept down south to protect the border with Peragen which alone has a stronger military than Rodenia’s entire force. What this all mean is that the coalition would dominate in supplies, air, seas, and land if Rodenia is cannot convince Packilvania to militarily intervene.

As such the question remains, would Packilvanian government send the order to intervene? Well while not impossible, it’s unlikely. At least not without Morstaybishlia doing the same. Many forget that it took those two superpowers together to force the UCA into negotiating a treaty that was favourable to Rodenia. This is especially important to point out, since back than even less nations stood with the UCA than compared to now. At the current moment we are talking about Packilvania not just facing UCA alone, but also Axdel, Vistaraland and Asendavia. Since after a summit between Norgsveltian and Asendavian diplomats in Vakrestrender on the 18th of February, the Asendavian government showed their support to the UCA and its demand for a united Puntalia under the “New” Puntalian government. With it being written in treaty that if Packilvania intervenes, so shall Asendava do for the UCA’s side. As such if the Packilvanian government decides to intervene, it risk bringing the war far closer to home thant it otherwise would have calculated. It’s not impossible, but an unlikely decision the Packilvanian government is willing to risk with its current large economic growth.

However, one might even wonder how willing is the individual UCA nations to commit into this? Well, I am willing to say, very much so, perhaps far more than many outside the UCA might have expected. Now I am not going to say the commitment wouldn’t vary, or that there wouldn’t be any domestic issues as result of this conflict. One should not let that blind people into what this issue signals and means to many UCA nations and their people. While it is tempting to say “it will be expensive and hurt consumers” one shouldn’t ignore the national and ideological aspect of this for many said nations. Not to mention the humiliation the huge majority of UCA nations considered the Puntalian Treaty and the Packilvanian/Morstaybishlian intervention. Individuals might dislike higher prices on goods, but many same nations also hate seeing what they consider injustice and humiliation go unpunished. As such I will quickly analysis individual UCA nations in their commitments and geopolitical situation over the crisis and how their people view it. Now I will not go in depth with every single UCA nation, but rather give a basic overview to those that is most involved.

Let’s take Durakia as an example:

In matters of the Union of Commonwealth Alliances (UCA), Durakia has often acted in a manner that places it more so in the periphery of interdependency in somewhat a similar manner to which is seen in Peragan or Lokania - even in spite of Durakia’s departure from the Intercontinental Regional Security Accords during the so-called “Norgsveltian Pivot” of the early Adley administration. Durakia remains what is a very ideologically driven nation, one in which a national identity was artificially created by a myth of Socialist Liberation, and as such ideology has ingrained itself within the foreign policy goals of the country.

In many cases, this has placed Durakia’s goals directly or indirectly opposed to that of the wider UCA, with the memory of the Civil War in Meremaa one which still arises discontent with Durakia’s participation within it. Matters such as the reluctance to participate in the intervention in Helslandr and the declaration of opposition from the Council of Trade Unions amidst pressure to curtail Volunteers in Ni-Rao have caused a considerable number within and without to question Durakia’s willingness to commit to UCA obligations rather than flirt between it and Great Morstaybishlia from Government to Government. However, this ideological framework is, in this case, a trigger which forces Durakia to act. Ideologically, in almost all regards, Rodenia is a state which furthest opposes the ideals of Durakia and one in which Durakan public opinion is very easily mobilised against. Through this, the Democratic Worker’s Party (DWP) - who have often shown contempt for the UCA - are forced by their revolutionary militarism to speak out in favour of war. Antonov, in spite of what her critics may regard her, is an individual who is less dismayed by direct action than her predecessor, and will no doubt see opportunity in war for a popular support victory in what is to be a contentious time in her political career. In this we may in fact see the front of Social Democrats, DWP and Communists forming a pro-war vanguard in which to ride a wave of popular agitation against Rodenia: The former to attempt to gain the sway of the masses and reaffirm support for the UCA, and the others as an act of Praxis which allows them to make criticisms of the unpopular actions taken in which created the Puntalia Compromise Treaty in 2020.

As such even if one would like to suggest that increased consumer goods prices would sway Durakan public against military action even if one like to think this conflict will stay for years, I will say that is extremely unlikely.

That what about an Acturian nation like Alksearia as an example?

Well one must than remember that the nation of Alksearia is a monarchy, even if a constitutional one. Queen Dorothea has a massive sway in public opinion, with her popularity of her being seen as the Queen that saved Alksearia from complete destruction that the Balistrian government was willing to bring on them. While yes, the argument that the previous war might mean the appetite on involving into another one is far less. However, through the command of the monarch Alksearia left the Puntalian Compromise Treaty in solidarity. In which Alksearia for as long as other UCA member states actively stated their disapproval off said treaty. It shows a clear willingness from the government and clearly the people as well that they will fight to reverse said treaty. My question is not Alksearia’s willingness, but rather their capability. With it being positioned in an important trading hub with many merchants passing through their waters as such being placed of the responsibility of protecting them on top of ensuring the military control of Balistria, it would limit the amount they can send to fight the conflict in Puntalia. Yet Alkari help will come, and perhaps not only in military. But also, in humanitarian matters which the Alkari nation shown a large strength in, which I am certain will come to Puntalia.

Another few nations are those of Eyjaria and New Leganes, two of the most important trading partners of Norgsveldet and massively important for their strategical positions in the South and North Concordian Oceans respectfully not to mention the large finances the two have as a result of their oil and gas industries and their large sovereign wealth fund as result of said oil and gas industries. What has their positions been? Well once more they shown diplomatic solidarity with Norgsveldet and Axdel in these past weeks with clear shown of disapproval for they also state is a continued occupation of Puntalia. Sentiments that are also reflected on to the public, with Rodenia not exactly gaining much sympathy in neither left wing or right-wing camps of said nations. As such the chances of the public opposing the conflict is highly unlikely, since if the political opposition in both nations shows support to military intervention into Puntalia than there isn’t a political figure to galvanise anti-war sentiments. That being said neither of these nations big military powers and would only make up small fraction of the armed forces involved. Which has most likely reason why the public is unlikely to be swayed into being against the conflict, in that it is unlikely either Eyjaria or New Leganes would pay much for it. Even if they have very deep hatred and dislike towards the Rodenian government.

Now some might say these nations aren’t important militarily as such they not important in the discussion of Rodenian Crisis becoming a conflict, though I will find such language extremely unfitting. Since doing so ignore the diplomatic and especially economic importance of said nations. Nation like New Leganes remains extremely important for Norgsveldet in terms of the economic cost calculations that the Norgsveltian government will make. If Norgsveldet is afraid of the expenses this operation in Puntalia might cost, New Leganes and Eyjaria the two nations they would go to for help offsetting those expenses. Diplomatically the two nations can help in pulling many other nations that dependent on their oil and gas, or their strategical location to side with UCA on this issue.

Now nations like Sokala, Tavaris, and Dvalheim has many other issues to be concerned about. Sokala has to keep all their military against Iphelklori in their current war against that fascistic nation. Tavaris has to deal with its Akronist successionists, and Dvalheim has to keep its military at the ready for any attempt of invasion from Tiervan. As such these nations that cannot commit, not out of unwillingness from their government and people. But rather in the lack of capacity to involve themselves without risking their own nationhood by ignoring a different larger issue.

Then there is Peragen, perhaps one of the most important UCA nations in all of this. To understand Peragen’s stance one has to look how it was before the crisis. Before the crisis Peragen’s relationship with the UCA can mainly stem from the idea of Acturian cooperation and its extremly close relations with New Leganes. As such when the UCA was first founded in the 1980s it felt natural to be a founding member with New Leganes. Their main reason was economic and political to bring a further closeness with other democratic nations after it moved away from the fascistic regime of Cornelio Estelárez and his fascistic ideology of Estelarianism. Now why is this important to mention? Well, it means that compared to other UCA founders and members that joined after. It wasn’t for gaining military protection from Norgsveldet or the ideals of geopolitical balance in the world of superpowers. Now that is not say they by any means didn’t welcome this, but simply that wasn’t the reason for joining. In many ways Peragen seem to disregard the policy of geopolitical balance through it becoming founder of a different military alliance, the IRSA in 2006. Pivoting it lot with Morstaybishlia and its dominance of the seas to protect it. As such a clear alignment with Morstaybishlia. Now why is this important enough to mention? Afterall Peragen always had a friendly and close relationship with Morstaybishlia, many placing them as having been in Morstaybishlia’s sphere of influence since ever the supremacy of the Morstaybishlian Empire in Southern Acturia was established. But it is important to mention, that Peragen’s move to officially co-found a Morstaybishlian led military alliance in 2006 made the relationship with Norgsveldet become cold. Now there is multiple reasons for this, but main one is that it lowered the trust the Norgsveltian governments had with Peragen thereafter. With many Norgsveltians having an increased sense of hatred towards MBE after a long proxy war with Morstaybishlia in the 90s within the nation of Meremaa having led to over 80k Norgsveltians either losing their lives or becoming heavily wounded. As such for the Norgsveltians it was seen as a slight from the Peragen government to join arms with such a nation. As such in between 2006 to 2019, despite officially being allies the two often kept each other in arm’s length. Now different Peragen governments had tried to close that gap and making the relations warmer. But for many Norgsveltian prime ministers, they still kept suspicions over the Peragen governments, partially because the general public held one but also result of military planners not certain if they could even rely on Peragen’s help. Meaning Norgsveltian military generals often either placed Peragen in military planning as either a friendly or neutral nation depending on if the hypothetical enemy nation for was Morstaybishlia or not. This changed slightly with the election of Johanna Sverdrup, that placed further emphasis on UCA unity and strength. Though it was not until 2019 when Rodenian leader Kirk Santon made himself into a right-wing dictator on the country, with an ideology that placed him on similar lot as Hirdist like dictators such as Cornelio Estelárez. Then it became not a surprise that since Morstaybishlia, even if they didn’t mean to, partially the reason why Santon’s centralised power in Rodenia that it caused controversy in Peragen. Now Peragen neither nor now blames Morstaybishlia for Rodenia’s march towards fascism, nor did Peragen at once militarise but still fervently opposed it. Militarily rather it made the shift that for many to further cooperation in military and security matters with the UCA was needed as such the coldness in relations between the two warmed up again. As the Peragen public completely opposed Rodenia ideologically. Though despite this Peragen still did not fully militarise as they viewed it that Morstaybishlia would protect them in any attack from Rodenia. This was however broken after Rodenia in 2020, invaded and occupied Puntalia another UCA nation. As such the entire UCA and Peragen was fully prepared to invade Rodenia and liberate Puntalia. However, with the unexpected choice from Morstaybishlia to effectively side with Rodenia and limited the military response UCA can do, in which through the Arsal Incident in which MBE fleet stationed in the Peragian historical capital blocked the UCA from sending naval vessels to Peragen. In which shocked the Peragian public and the government which was caught unaware. They didn’t expect an ally like Morstaybishlia to condemn and call the UCA for war mongers for opposing an illegal and unjustified invasion of a UCA member.

Now once more I will clear out that Peragen is still allies with Morstaybishlia, but with the later refusing to oppose the invasion of Puntalia and forcing their allies to artificially create a border in Puntalia to fit Rodenia’s and its ally Packilvania’s need. Well, it is clear they questioned Morstaybishlia’s commitment to defend them and opposing fascistic ideologies. In comparison the UCA through Norgsveltian leadership showed active opposition to said ideologies but also showed willingness to protect its allies. Which was further came clear when Norgsveldet became important part in fighting against the Balistrian forces that invaded Alksearia. In which once more Morstaybishlia didn’t do much. Now Alksearia nor Puntalia was Morstaybishlian allies, yet the importance is the fact that in the face of fascistic invasion Morstaybishlia twice either just condemned the invasion as seen with the former or actively sided with the aggressor in the later. As such Peragen fervently became a greater UCA ally, fervently militarised and actively changed its policy to become the UCA’s vanguard against Rodenia in southern Acturia. Its why that despite being a frontline nation with the most to lose, they most likely be one with soldiers most actively willing to fight against a foe like Rodenia. Since what Rodenia represent is the same face as the previous dictatorship of the failed regime of Cornelio Estelárez, one who represent everything that the current Peragen stands against, something Santon himself knows and shall view Peragen as the number one enemy. Which is a hell of a motivator for the Pergian public to intervene into Puntalia.

Lokania might be the nation least willing to get involved both from a governmental aspect but also a public aspect. Fact matter is that the Lokanian government is one who follow the UCA commitments the least and is the member who is the most aligned with Morstaybishlia. Despite the Puntalian Crisis. Not to mention aspects of being a frontline nation and not to mention the terrorist organisation White Hand, the chances of Lokanian involvement lay very low. Which might cause friction between Lokania and other UCA member states especially the one who is most suspicious about Lokania’s ties with the MBE. For the Lokanian government and people, the risk calculations remain too high to make intervention worth it.

Now what about the leading nation of the UCA? The one that at once jumped at the opportunity to withdraw from the treaty when Axdel and jumped on the chance to send a fleet as back up. What is the public attitude there and why did Norgsveldet jump into doing this?
Well to figure that out why this sudden drastic action was decided by the Norgsveltian government we have to look into the thought process of its two leaders. First one being the prime minister, Johanna Sverdrup, and the other King Olav. Reason why this is important to separate the two is for this one reason. While it is Johanna and her government that decided to go out of the treaty, they needed the approval of the monarch to send the navy.
Now for Johanna her mindset is clear to figure out through her campaign promises about foreign policy. In which she promised of keeping Norgsveldet as an important geopolitical player in the world and the importance of the UCA. Now is this to mean she is just blood thirsty? While it can certainly seem so, this crisis is something far more important for Johanna. In her mind the whole Puntalian Crisis was a major loss of face for her and her political party. In which two superpowers like that of Morstaybishlia and Packilvania essentially forced her, the new Iron Lady of Norgsveldet, to back down. On top of discrediting the UCA by forcing it to not follow up its number defensive article and point of it. An attack on one, is an attack on all. It at once started up other conflicts like Balistria’s invasion of Alksearia, since Balistria assumed the same attitude. The UCA would not protect its allies, though this time they and the world were proven wrong. Which was likely a slight cushion when Johanna’s electoral result that year took a dive. The Puntalian Crisis as such is seen as her biggest failure by the Norgsveltian public, and personal slight from the then Morstaybishlian prime minister, Franklin Barvata and the Packilvanian Sultan Namdun III. As such Axdel withdrawal and support to the UCA demands of a united Puntalia is seen as a major step to rectifying that mistake and showing the two nations she would consider rivals for Norgsveldet that she is willing to act on her demands. Which now also hitting in an economic arena through the NCEF sanctions on Packilvania. Not to mention the motive of winning back lost voters, if Johanna is successful to unite Puntalia with the government of “New” Puntalia forming it, she could be successful in winning the election in 2024. That way she doesn’t have to rely on its coalition partner the LNP so much, a political party which becoming increasingly unpopular among the rural conservative voters in Nyveldet. With her own party being unpopular in the current Social Democratic stronghold of Osfjord. As such for Johanna her decision has a clear rhyme and reason behind it. It remains mainly in the realm of personal ambition, increasing domestic support, international importance and of course feeling of pay back. As such it was never a question of why to do it for Johanna, but when to do it. With now material possibility and smart diplomatic manoeuvring Norgsveldet finally capability to enact on Johanna’s motives.

Now what about the king? What his motive of approving all this? Well, that is harder to say, as there is less statements and interviews to analysis to get into his mindset compared to Johanna that is. This often result that the king doesn’t have to defend his position and actions as much as the prime minister has too. Not to mention information about the Royal Family in general is harder to get by than public officials. Of course, in that I mean outside gossip garbage one gets to hear from the “See and Hear” magazines. No from such magazines you more likely to hear about which fast food meal each Royal Family member prefer rather than important geopolitical opinions. As such we have to go all the way back to 2020, in which we can than look at three aspects the speeches Olav stated about Puntalia, him joining the summit about Puntalia and his answer to an interviewer from ENN the same year. On the speeches it was very clear that he wanted to solve the Puntalian Crisis diplomatically rather than through conflict, seen as him urging Morstaybishlia to “see reason” and “work with the UCA to convince Rodenia to step back”. Though should be noted this was after Morstaybishlia’s intervention, I think the king knew that escalating the crisis would lead to far more bloodshed on a global scale. During the summit in Sani Bursil, he insisted on Rodenia paying reparations in far larger degree than what ended up being agreed upon and demanded with the Durakian representative that the division of Puntalia was only a temporary measure. In which there would been referendums about Puntalia’s unification. As such its clear he still strived for a unified Puntalia and even that Rodenia should pay harshly for their actions. Now clearly neither happened, which partially that Olav wanted in contrast to Johanna show a diplomatic face. Clearly with recent military actions, the king has viewed situation as impossible to do through diplomacy as result of Rodenia’s continued refusal to enact referendum. Which clearly because despite those might fallen to Rodenian propaganda belive, Puntalians doesn’t like Rodenia’s presence and want united Puntalia with a democratic government meaning New Puntalia. Santon knows this very well, and so do the UCA member states. Santon knows any referendum would mean a loss of Rodenia’s presence in Puntalia. As such for the perspective of the king, only way to ensure it is intervention. Last thing I will note is the question, the interviewer gave back on the 1st of October 2020. When Olav got asked that “Do you believe Morstaybishlia is equaly to blame for Puntalia Crisis as Rodenia is?” the king responded with an immediate and annoyed “yes!”. This while far harder to prove, can be clear sign that his majesty is perhaps feeling resentment over the Puntalian Crisis.

Now, I will not claim Olav decision is fully motivated by these emotions, but it is part to contribute to the decision. What I think what made Olav go with his decision, is mainly on the aspects that unironically reminds me of statement the leader of Norgsveldet’s socialist party, PWP stated in an opinion article. That even if one might prefer peace, meaning absence of tension. It shouldn’t mean one should settle for a negative peace which is the absence of tension and justice. I am certain it will be heavy heart for the king to decide that ensure a just peace came victorious it will have to come through conflict.

Now with those understanding it’s clear that the government and crown’s decision to intervene comes from an equal number of ideals as well as opportunity. The decision most likely look far different if Morstaybishlia decided to intervene again. However, what does the public think? Well according to most recent opinion polling done by Osfjord Tidene, 70% of those asked has stated their support to intervention with only 8% being against it, with the rest saying they don’t know. Which one should note is a large increase since last time it was polled, with many experts are saying is a result of the White Hand terrorist attack on Norgsveldet’s embassy in Lokania. With the death of ambassador Yvonne Nordrum having fanned the thirst of avenging her. As Norgsveltians sees Santon’s rise of power as the reason fascistic groups like the White Hand feel ambitious enough to attack Norgsveltian diplomats. Now there no evidence Santon is helping this terrorist organisation, even condemning it. But his ideology is what is inspiring them, as such in the eyes of Norgsveltians the issue is larger than just the Rodenian government itself, but rather Santon’s entire ideology. What I fear is almost opposite what some might expect. The public not going to demand Norgsveldet not intervene, no. There is a good chance they might demand even further hawkish actions, such as the removal of Santon from power. Now I don’t think Johanna, nor the king would listen to those demands. But it is something opposition parties can easily take advantage off. If a new prime minister ends up being elected on a promise to get rid of Santon? Well, it could mean that Norgsveldet might end up revisiting Rodenia once more in the future.

Now that is the short summary of the most important UCA nations that is either involved or was involved in this current crisis in Rodenia. I could go over all UCA nations, but some wouldn’t mean much nor change the risk calculations these governments would be making over to intervene or not to intervene.

Now this is just part “one” of the geopolitical analysis over the Rodenian Crisis. Soon shall my second part be posted later today in which I will be reviewing the geopolitical situation on notable non-UCA nations and their positions on this. From Axdel sudden change from disapproving to direct hostility towards Rodenia’s government, to Vistaraland’s interests in joining a crisis against a former “ally”, to Packilvania’s choices of how to support Rodenia despite all the difficulties and finally towards questioning Morstaybishlia’s neutrality. Then I’ll answer question off, what is the aftermath of all this? One thing I can say now that I will explore is Norgsveldet’s and Axdel’s partnership, and Axdel rise as the emerging power of the century.

Vakrestrender PM, Ingeborg Hove Speaks out against Blåskog; It’s a damned Geocide!

In a speech made within the Vakrestrender’s Parliament, the Prime Minister Ingeborg Hove made a fiery speech condemning the “Population Transportation ‘’ between Blaskovia and Noraida as temperamental as a geocide. Pointing towards the forceful removal of Tieflings from their native land within Blaskovoia to the island nation of Novaida. “They have lived in Blaskovoia for a generations, and now are being forced by the government in Blaskovoia to gather their belongings to be dragged into an unfamiliar country and in a country where they are denied basic freedoms! They cannot choose who to worship, they are denied the basic rights of protests and free speech.”

The Prime Minister later brought in a Blaskovia tiefling, Avreia Taer, a political activist fleeing Blaskog to speak on the issue.

“It is as if they’re sending the military to burn down our homesteads. Rather, they prefer to give us a slow death. They have passed dozens of laws, to prevent us from growing our communities, such as having to pay extra taxes on food, water and all other matters of life necessary. Taxes with the only aim to drive our people’s businesses under, and unable to compete with Elven business. Every other week, they send officials to suggest to tieflings business owners that they should just pack up and move to Novaida. This is despite Novraida being a socialist country and banning such private businesses. Just recently the Blåskovian government passed a food inspection act that will only apply on Tiefling farms, which forces farmers to wait over 90 days to sell their food. By then, much of the foodstuff has already rotten away further driving the farms under. The banks within the country simply out-right refuse to hand loans out to Tieflings, no matter the collateral with the only exception being their land. Then the banks will offer only predatory loans with interest rates no one could ever pay back. Then the thieves sell that land to elves for øre on the krone! They are doing everything possible to drive us under and force us out of our land we have lived on for generations!” She ended the speech with a plea for all members of the NCEF to come out against Blaskovic policies. If not outright remove them from the NCEF.

Potrait of the Prime Minister of Vakrestrender, Ingeborg Hove

We on the ENN has been lucky to have one of journalists, Erik Grut, to be avaible to hold an interview with an rather famous proffessor in Eyjaria, Igar Laida from the Centre of Eyjarian Geopolitics who written books like “Dark Nature of Blåskog” and “Failure of the Noraii State”.

Camera now filming a well dressed nekomimi who sitting across a grey skinned tiefling.

Erik: It’s a pleasure meeting you Sir Laida.

Igar: Please, just call me Igar.

Erik: So Igar, how would you describe Noraida as a nation? Was this to be expected from them?

Igar: While a full ethnic cleansing was not something I expected to happen just yet, it was clear they had that in mind a long time ago. Noraida is an extremely fundementalist country, not just by government structure but also by its society. While one can say nations like Nystatiszna or even Blåskog are very religious nations, we have to remember that Noraida views their religion in a far different light than Blåskog or Nystatiszna. Overall these states might give special privileges to their state religion, or see themselves as protectors of their specific religion. Noraida often takes the attitude that anyone who doesn’t follow their extremely specific version of Duarism, is an inherent heretic. There is no other religion allowed than Duarism, and there is no freedom to question it. In fact Akuanist temples were destroyed during the 90s as a religious order in Noraida, and Akuanism even though small ceased to exist. The only difference between that however, and now is the very speciest focused plan that comes from it. While Noraida was speciest in many ways, it did allow it Zrei elven population to exist as long as it followed their principle of Duarism.

Erik: What then changed to make Noraida make this species focused? Did the Zrei elven population convert back to Asatru?

Igar: See that is where Blåskog comes in! Blåskog as society, while asatru religious especialy among its nobility. Is in large by its elven population, a very speciest society. Elves are viewed as the group of people inherently on top, even supporting the Imperial Party in Nystatiszna in the past before Ingrid came knocking. This plan for population exchange, shortened to PONF, was one that was originally created by the elven supremacist politician in Blåskog called Jori Torinson. Reason this is important is that this signals that it isn’t a plan made by the unelected king, but an elected politician by the people themselves. Now by no means does this mean the king is guilt free, he could oppose it if he wanted to as Blåskog being a fully constitutional monarchy is a bloody sham. It however means, this is a far larger societal issue as it wasn’t just created by some elven nobles that were tired by the poor. Jori is no nobility, he was born among a typical middle class family in Varmvik. His followers in the political party of AFP? Mainly middle class and lower class elves in urban communities who fear elves would lose their place if other species like nekos and tieflings “outbreed” them. They are very much inspired by the several different hirdist movements in other countries like Norgsveldet, or the failed “national revolution” in Helslandr. Blåskog for years now has tried to alleviate these fears by passing laws that give free land to elves or by encouraging elven immigration to Blåskog mainly through media funded campaigns in Norgsveldet.

Erik: But why did Blåskog’s government decide to do it now to push for this? They already were getting immigrants from Norgsveldet right?

Igar: Yes, but the thing is that Jori was winning a higher share in parliament, last election in 2019 the AFP won 15% of the vote. That doesn’t seem high, but that is three times the amount than it was 10 years ago. Now once more we shouldn’t kid ourselves that this is a real democracy, but it means his ideas were gaining popularity. So the prime minister of Blåskog took and modified part of AFP’s plan for population exchange with Noraida to win support among the population. Which they have been successful in, now most independent opinion pollings put the AFP support among the electorate at 9%.

Erik: But with elves in Noraida being converted, wouldn’t Noraida want to keep them?

Igar: Thing is they are heavily dependent on Blåskog on things like food imports, economic aid, energy and military protection. Even if Noraida was ruled by the most moralistic country on the planet, they wouldn’t object. On top of that for the religious leaders in Noraida, they view protecting their view of Duarism to the letter in far greater importance than protecting religious minorities.

Erik: How does Noraida follow Duarism on that note? Like what is its view of gender issues? Most Duarists here in Eyjaria is very gender equal and proggessive.

Igar: Well on that note Noraida is extremely regressive especially for Borean standards. It is overall a matriarchal society in which women are seen as the inherent leaders in religious matters, which while not unusual among Duarists, is taken step further in Noraida and with how powerful the clergy is it means the women are in control of most political matters. Often at the cost of trans women’s lives. As they are not seen by Noraida’s society as “true” women and are killed for it. Noraida views what you born as is something chosen by the gods at birth, and your biological sex is inherently your gender. As such any and all transitional surgery is banned. Men do gain some political power, but only in matters of the military. This is partially as a result of Noraida viewing men as the inherent leaders of military matters, but it is also heavily a result of the alliance the clergy made with the military. To allow military and most foreign policy matters to be outside control of the clergy. Overall it is a society that values its female population to a far greater degree than its male counterpart. Only place one can argue Noraida isn’t regressive is sexuality, as it does allow for homosexual relationships as long its monogamius relationship. As a result of the goddess of the sun in Duarism, Soleiken also represents love which in Duarism means all types of love that exist.

Erik: Thank you, and final question. Do you think Blåskog will be kicked out of NCEF for this?

Igar: Well I certainly wish for it! But it’s unlikely, Norgsveldet is too close to Blåskog economicaly any changes can have massive issues with Norgsveldet. Though Ive stated before, Blåskog has always stayed Norgsveldet’s second biggest geopolitical burden and if Norgsveldet doesn’t change that it will have a hard time to criticize its rivals for their geopolitical partners.

Erik: Thank you staying with us Igar

Igar: The pleasure is all mine.
