Historical Summary: The nation’s history begins with indigenous (some barbaric) tribes who swept south and established settlements, and though they were far apart, geography soon had them establishing connections down the Baiku River where modern-day Northford is built on. These tribes lived and co-existed with each other for a millennia, often trading with each other long before foreign contact. Fossil records show that the earliest civilizations could have dated back to the 5th Century BCE.

In 1592, a new power coming from Balchavia Island, the Merkopan Empire, arrived at the doorstep of the continent. At first, it seemed the empire was peaceful, trading with the nations existing on Astern soil, however, their motives soon became evident following a change in foreign policy, which was influenced by the Augshap Dynasty (the dynasty that controlled the country’s affairs at the time). Soon, they established colonies on Astern soil–and after having reached the borders of other nations, they pressured them into conceding much of their land until nothing was left, and soon other tribes fled southwards and northwards, fearing the Merkopan war machine. The colonial period saw economic growth through agriculture, mining, and trade, it was by this time Merkopa had moved their capital from Balchav City to Northford, due to its strategic position on the Baiku River and Newport Bay.

By the late 1700s, unpopular rulers and decrees has pushed Northford and other cities to the edge, and finally, growing discontent led to the Astern Revolution (1790-1805), resulting in independence from the Augshap Dynasty.

As an independent republic, Asterborne faced early challenges but expanded significantly in the 19th century, fueled by industrialization and mineral discoveries. However, their success was short-lived, and soon, regional disparities tore the nation apart , which led to a civil war in 1944. It lasted four, grueling years of combat between rival factions and ideologies. Post-war reconstruction brought stability and economic growth.

The 20th century marked Asterborne’s rise as a regional player, in part due to rapid modernization. Scientific discovery and modernity was pushed to the forefront of the nation’s affairs. Civil rights movements in the late 90s pressured legislation to pass bills that promote such agenda and soon the country became a foothold for civil rights in the region. In the early 2000s, the country experienced ‘The Renewable Miracle’, which saw renewable energy being replaced out of the phased-out fossil-fuel based energy plants. In the early 2010s, the country invested massively into information technology, soon becoming one of the most technologically-educated country in the East Pacific.
