Happy New Year to all! Hope you had a good holiday period! Here are the latest goings on in the Founderless Regions Alliance
New FRA Cabinet
Following Januarys cabinet elections we now have a new FRA cabinet!
Arch Chancellor: Sedge
Regional Development Minister: Hammer
Regional Recruitment Officer: Hammer
Communications Minister: Numero Capitan
Intelligence Minister: Falconias
Foreign Affairs Minister: Gateborg
Chief of Defence Force: Sir Lans
The elections saw our previous Arch-Chancellor, Northern Chittowa step down and be replaced by Sedge, with none of the other nominees accepting their nominations. No doubt Sedge will hope to straighten things out a bit in the Arch Chancellors office after discovering numerous George Michael records, a collection of lycra outfits and a picture of Elton John in Northern Chittowas old chest of drawers, the pink flowery wallpaper is likely to fall victim to Sedges initial purges as well. The elections also saw Hammer and Numero Capitan join the cabinet for the first time, with Hammer taking both Regional Development and Regional Recruitment, quite a hefty workload!
The incumbents in Intelligence and Chief of the Defence Forces kept their seats after positive terms and Gateborg returned to the cabinet as Foreign Affairs Minister.
Abstain was unfortunate to lose out on a cabinet position once again.
We are currently having elections for Speaker of the Regional Assembly, but with only Geo, the incumbent, standing he looks sure to keep his position.
FRA welcomes new member regions!
The Founderless Region Alliance is proud to welcome our newest member regions, A New Order and Sapienta after their applications were accepted. We hope they will play a key role in the FRA and contribute to our goals. A New Order has appointed Island Union and CloudEagle as their Regional Representatives and we look forward to a closer relationship with these two regions.
New Applications
There have been several new applications, one from The Military Alliance, requesting membership and development, which should go to a vote soon and another from new region Lipitone who are keen to be involved in the FRA despite only being two days old.
Weve also had a steady flow of development applications, with A New Order requesting some help and other applications from Outer Heaven, Cransley and The Military Alliance.
Rangers
The FRA Rangers have been kept busy over the Christmas period despite a number of absences and have had a few more Rangers added to their numbers, including Novellus Veii from The YoungWorld as well as Naivetry and Auel Neider as Non-allied Rangers!
2nd Annual Defender Awards
Were honoured to host the Annual Defender Awards once more and our outgoing Arch-Chancellor is acting as host again. All members of the Nationstates world are welcome to come and take part, invader defender or neutral and we hope it will be as much a success as last year.
The format of the awards will be the same, there will be a nomination period, then a voting period and finally an award ceremony at the very end to round it all off. The number of awards has gone up by one despite there being a few awards taken out and added in and we also have decided to give out awards this year around, so that those who win have something to show their achievement.

Arch Chancellor Sedge retires
Due to the pressure of RL work our recently elected Arch Chancellor, Sedge, has been forced to retire from NationStates with immediate effect. Sedge served the FRA as Regional Development Officer and Arch Chancellor as well as reaching the rank of Captain as a Ranger. We wish him the best in his real life endeavours.
New Pro Tempore Chancellor Elected
As our Charter requires we have appointed a Chancellor pro tempore to fill the role of Chancellor after Sedges resignation. Sir Lans was appointed by 9 votes to nil and fills the role immediately. He is also Chief of Defence Force and in order to lighten that load he has appointed Falconias of City in the Sky and Klopstock of The YoungWorld as Deputy Chiefs.
FRA welcomes new member regions!
As with previous updates I have been able to announce the good news that the FRA has welcomed new member regions. Anime and City in the Sky are our newest members and we welcome them to the organisation, we hope we can have strong relationships with them! Members of both regions have already previously been active in the region and it is good to welcome our friends Falconias and Drop Your Pants to the Regional Assembly as representatives of CITS.
New Applications
We have only had one formal application for membership since the last update from Back in the day but the application has been put on hold as the region is dead and the one active member appears to have vanish. We hope to receive further applications soon.
Rangers
The FRA Rangers havent been too busy recently but have been on a fair share of missions and completed several defences successfully in the past fortnight.
Sir Lans recently announced that all Ranger applications were on hold due to the internal restructuring after Sedges retirement.
2nd Annual Defender Awards
The 2nd Annual Defender Awards have almost drawn to a close with voting ending tomorrow (1st of March). Make sure you come and vote quickly!
Gatesville declares war on the FRA
Several members of Gatesville have visited the FRA forums recently, with Nevadar their delegate announcing that the region has now declared war on the organisation. As with previous declarations, the FRA does not respond to threats of war and is unconcerned, we will go about business as usual.

Lazarus. Defenders show their strength.
In perhaps the biggest battle between defenders and invaders in NS history over 200 nations faced off against each other in order to see their desired delegate come out on top. In a well panned endorsement campaign to be followed by full scale invasion some of the moderate invader armies tried to steal the Lazarus delegacy away from Northern-Chittowa and enthrone Hellraiser.
The planning was all for naught, however, as within a short amount of time after discovering the invasion, defenders from across the NS world rallied together and kept the delegacy in Chittowa’s hands. Though the invaders were able to take the delegacy their margin of victory was slim, only a 7 endorsement difference.
A large portion of the defence force came from the FRA and Texas with contributions from various other regions. It was mainly two forces versus so many legions of invaders and yet we stood tall and made them sweat for their victory every step of the way. The invaders say we were defeated yet it is the air of victory that sweeps over the defender world.

FRA Resumes Normal Service
After the easter break and confusion surrounding the new changes to NationStates and the UN or World Assembly, the FRA is finally getting back to its normal routine. Older members are becoming more active again and newer members have been popping up in various places. We are pleased to welcome back Giant Cheese Weasels to the FRA Rangers after a very long absence! It is also good to see visits from other old timers such as Vazquez, Kanahele and Avenging Angels in our welcome centre!
Cabinet Elections
Yes, its the time for Cabinet elections once more and nominations have taken place with voting closing at midnight tonight we will see our new Cabinet tomorrow. Many of the positions have become one horse races despite numerous nominations and the process has filtered out some talented candidates who have stepped aside for others. We may see a new face of two in the cabinet as well as welcoming back other faces but it is largely a Cabinet reshuffle. I wont spoil the fun of finding out who won tomorrow (but expect a press release pretty soon after this one :P)
FRA welcomes new member regions!
In my time as Communications Minister I have had the priviledge to welcome a new member region with every update. Its great to finally have Soviet Union as a member region and were glad to welcome both Barhar and Hofkauzern to the Regional Assembly as representatives!
In the past month we have also turned down applications from Egeden and Audux. There are no applications currently being processed.
Rangers
The FRA Rangers have been deployed across NationStates as always. Weve liberated regions such as Americania and The Pigs Pelvis as well as putting an end to occupations and invasions by the Rebel Raiding Force and the IDA by spotting UN (now WA) Multiing.
We have also had to protect our member regions, Soviet Union and The Rejected Realms from a Rogue Delegate and Endotarters respectively.
Ranger of the Month
The Ranger of the Month for March is Private First Class Torchevon of 00000 A World Power! Previous winners this year are;
February- Hammer (Lichentia)
January- Numero Capitan (00000 A World Power)
International Crisis Debates
The FRA has also been visited by various members of the regions Equilism, The Last Kingdom, The North Pacific and Gatesville in debating the legitimacy and actions of rogue delegate Lewis and Clark. Accusations have been made about FRA intervention in the region, which has been completely denied by every member of this organisation.
Whilst the organisation is flattered that we are considered to be so central to NationStates that the discussion would be brought here, officials have either closed or concluded debates. The Regional Assembly voted not to release a statement on the issue.

April saw a flurry of activity throughout the whole of the F.R.A.'s forums, with both the Independent and Regional Assemblies debating a range of topics from nominations for the Speaker of the Assembly to new regional membership. Also this month the Regional Assembly has concluded its election for the Speaker position resulting in a victory for Northern Chittowa, and the Arch Chancellor has announced the appointment of Numero Capitan as his [new Deputy](Tep Forum | 404 - Link Expired

Unfortunatly our Communications Minister Torchevon has had to step aside, but the subsequent by-election was well contested and saw an excellent level of participation with; Delta Golf Sierra, Gateborg, Numero Capitan and Giant Cheese Weasels all nominated and DGS and GCW both accepting their nominations and taking part in a manifesto and Q&A session for both Assemblies.
The election saw a high level of abstainations which voters put down to both candidates being equally well qualified to fulfil the role. The result was a tie, after which Delta Golf Sierra conceded the race to Giant Cheese Weasels.
Member Regions
This month has also seen a change in the make up of our member regions, Peaceian has succeeded in reapplying to the organisation after a successful refounding and merger with City In The Sky - whichhas now formally disolved - as a result of this merger Peaceian’s new F.R.A. representatives are Drop Your Pants and Giant Cheese Weasels.We are sorry to announce that Anime has chosen to leave the organisation and wish them the best of luck in their future endeavours.
Rangers
The last weeks of April saw the Rangers excel themselves throughout NationStates, from aiding in the defence of Lazarus (for more on this see Lazarus’s own perspective look [here)](Tep Forum | 404 - Link Expired Bear Creek, Woodstock, Michigan, The Imperial Empire, Libertia, AANR, 0000 United Democratic Nations, Government, France and participation in around another half dozen operations.
Long standing and active service of numerous members has resulted in a series of promotions, including; Northern Chittowa has been awarded Honorary General Rank For Services to the FRA, Falconias’s has been promoted to Colonel and Numero Capitan has gained the rank of Capitan.

Members & Government
As noted in our previous short update, elections have come and gone for the organization’s Cabinet. Ministers have begun setting about their priorities, deputies have been selected, and the FRA Rangers are full-steam ahead under a new government. Thanks to those who ran and those Assembly Representatives that voted!
In other news, newly-elected Arch Chancellor sedge has announced an Assembly review of the Alliance’s Charter that will likely run for several weeks. Assembly members who may not ordinarily be active are asked to swing by and give their views as the Charter is torn apart and put back together.

Communications Minister Election Tie
In a similar incident to the by-election for Communications Minister noted here previously, the election of a Communications Minister was tied - with the two candidates Defectivity and Kobold each receiving six votes, with two abstentions. After some debate, [Kobold announced his intentions to step aside.](Tep Forum | 404 - Link Expired Kobold was almost immediately snapped up as the Deputy Intelligence Minister.

Member Regions
Two long-standing member regions of the FRA have begun combating almost-insurmountable inactivity since the last update, with greater activity from North Pacific and the Global Right Alliance. Both regions are among those potentially targeted by the Regional Development Office’s new Minister, Pope Lexus X. There’ve been a few changes of Regional Representatives, including Defectivity becoming the second North Pacific Rep, with Lichentia choosing Tupelope to serve as second Rep. Meanwhile, Neasmyrna announced Lord Tothe would be replacing him as Regional Representative for 00000 A World Power for the month of July.
Rangers
Though there was a slight lull near the end of June and beginning of July, the last week has proven very productive for the Rangers. FRA Rangers and allied military assisted in the liberation and subsequent defense of Venice, as well as defenses of North Carolina and West Seacombe. Laothin was promoted to Private First Class, so congratulations to them!

Congratulations to al! The elections saw Joshua, Likako, and Great Sanfordia joining the FRA cabinet for the first time. Drop Your Pants after resigning from the position of Regional Development Minister, decided to run for the position again and won.

The Fellowship of the Defenders
Talks has begun between the FRA and the Federal Alliance of Nations in the FRA Independent Assembly about more cooperation in the field of defending.

The Two Treaties
Last month the FRA started two cooperations with non-regional defender organizations. Both the Defender’s Club of Liberalia and the the Crusaders of Justice of Equinoxian Axiom Guild signed Military Liaison Pacts with the FRA, January 3 and 27. The treaty gives the two organizations right to share and exchange mission information with the FRA.

Joshua did a narrow victory against Silentvoice for the invasion spotting Ananke Award. However the runner-up Siletvoice did spot the invasion attempt of Rajahland, which was awarded The Operation of the Year Award.
The Anarchotopia Award for the most successful organization in preventing invasions was acquired by the FRA, again. While 00000 A World Power took home the regions’ equivalent, the Eagles Disobey Award.
The Crusaders of Justice of the Equinoxian Axiom Guild may be awesome, but they still got defeated in the race to become the best newcomers of last year. The winner of the Newcomer of the Year Award was the FRA Arch Chancellor Kobold of Fidelia.
Karputsk and Pope Lexus X had the most appreciated conversation, a funny stanza about the NationStates’ United Nations to World Assembly change, and for this they shared The Best Defender Quote Award.

The Worst Invasion of the Year Award was awarded to the invaders participating in Egypt and The North Pacific for epic failure, or as the name of the award suggests, worst invasion.
The Meltdown of the Year Award is awarded to the meltdown, the total anarchy, destruction, inevitable mayhem, implosion, or call it what ever you want of the year.
We can still smell the epic failures of the The Last Kingdom and The New Revolution, both given The Meltdown of the Year Award, due to another tie.
However, the opposite award to the two above, The Blackbird Award, for the best raider organization, was awarded to both The Black Hawks and DEN.

The Lifetime Achievement Award was awarded to Sir Lans foe a lifetime of dedication to defending. While the The Updater of the Year Award was given to Falconias for his enormous work on updates.
However, the big winner of this edition of the Awards are Numero Capitan, the only one receiving the double amount of prizes than the others. The EuroSoviets Award for his IP craziness helping the defender cause, and the Dipes Award for his services to the intelligence cause.
