What kind of food do people in FPS eat?

— End quote

The lax immigration policies of the Federated Alliance mean that most urban centers offer a significant diversity of choices for food. The urban and suburban Free Pacifican eats a highly varied diet, as such, and no generalizing statement can really be made. But most urban Free Pacificans eat a much simpler diet, based largely on meat and steak for inlanders, and fish for anyone anywhere near the ocean.

What are the stable foods?

— End quote

The Federated Alliance does hold restaurants to a higher health standard than the United States but fast food restaurants definitely feed the most people every day. Where chicken and beef dominate fast food in the USA, however, seafood also makes a serious appearance in McDonalds, Wendy’s, and related restaurants in FPS.

— Begin quote from ____

What are the delicacies?

— End quote

The Federated Alliance has a lot, lot, LOT of sea border. The biggest delicacies in the nation are the more rare fish, as a result, and particularly the more rare fish in the area of the region inhabited by Free Pacificans. It should be noted that Whale is never on the menu.

What about rules on food preparation?

— End quote

The rules on food preparation vary city to city, though the federal government does strenuously regulate the transportation of food, and most territories set guidelines for food preparation. Outside of restaurants, given the conglomeration of cultures that is the Federated Alliance, there really aren’t a whole lot of cultural rules.

Does FPS have any roadside foodstands in it’s towns?

— End quote

More so in the cities, but, also in the towns. It is not uncommon to see street vendors selling waffles in the morning, sandwiches in the afternoon, and pasta in the evening. Of course, those vendors must apply for permits in almost all cities, but such permit applications are rarely denied.

If FPS was a colour, what colour would it be and why?

— End quote

Black. FPS is a very diverse country where racism is mostly a thing of the past, though stereotyping is still a very persistent problem.

Does FPS buy it’s military armaments from other countries or make them domestically?

The Federated Alliance bases its arms purchases on quality of product, so it procures its weapons from a combination of domestic and international sources. Where possible, the government uses tax incentives and subsidies to convince arms manufacturers to produce their weapons in the Free Pacific States, both to help the economy and ensure local production in the case of war. But so long as a producer is willing to agree to attempt to deliver the weapons even during wartime, the country is not averse to purchasing overseas.

What were the States of FPS before WWII and the formation of FPS?

The five states that comprised the Alliance of Free Pacific States prior to federalization were Tilden, Beren, Zalebano, Faramount, and Mangek. The capitol of Tilden, Garneldo, served as capitol of the Alliance. But the largest service provided by the Alliance, that being the postal service, was based in a small city in central Faramount.

The Looplites declared war only hours before attacking Garneldo. The city fell quickly, most of the leadership of the alliance was captured, and those few representatives that did escape fled into the mountains with the Tilden guerillas. The alliance was left in shambles with no coherent leader (and Tilden, itself, was all but defeated in only a day). The Looplites proceeded with a lightning-fast invasion that quickly devastated the Free Pacific States’ defenses.

The Postmaster of the Alliance, Christopher Grissom, decided it necessary to step up to organize the defense of the states. Grissom declared himself “Acting Secretary General,” called for representatives of each country to be dispatched to his postal center, and began to draw up plans for the defense of the alliance along with his brother. The Looplites ignored Grissom for months, not thinking that a Postmaster was a real threat, and it was too late by the time they realized otherwise.

When the Alliance achieved victory over the Looplites, Grissom called for unification, and it happened. The five nations became the five states. The capital was moved from Garneldo to the renamed “Liberty City.” Most alliance leaders had wanted to name the city for Grissom, but he refused, instead calling for the bland but inspiring title. “This city served as the center of our battle for liberty,” he said, “and so it shall forever be remembered as Liberty City.”

The old Alliance Postmaster Building is the most beloved historical site in the Federated Alliance given its role during the war. It no longer serves a functionary purpose.

What is the current status of the area surrounding Cuttersville.

How goes the Pax’s secret assimilation attempts of the FPS Bureaucracy?

The Federated Alliance established Cuttersville as a Federal Territory following the Drone Revolt. As a “Federal Territory,” Cuttersville is bound by federal law, but granted autonomy on all non-federal matters.

The federal government considers “Assimilated Persons” to be citizens of the Pax Empire. Assimilated Persons are prohibited from government service, receive only “resident” benefits, and are not granted suffrage as a result. Cuttersville receives no federal representation as a result.

The Federal Territory Administration enforces all federal law within the district, ranging from border control to inter-territorial crime investigation, and performs all federal tasks within the district. The Federal Territory Administration carefully patrols the borders of Cuttersville, requires any Assimilated Person to register prior to leaving for anywhere else within the Federated Alliance, and requires any Assimilated Person traveling elsewhere in the country to accept an escort by armed Federal Territory Administration agents.

The Federal Oversight Agency is the only federal agency that maintains an office in the Cuttersville Federal Territory except for the Federal Territory Administration. Staffed entirely by volunteers, this FOA office spends its time investigating the massive number of allegations made by Assimilated Persons against FTA employees, who are infamous across the Territory for their corruption. Because few FOA Agents are willing to work in Cuttersville, however, the FOA’s efforts have not seriously reduced the high amount of non-physical abuse perpetrated against Assimilated Persons by FTA employees.

The Department of Defense maintains heavy defenses along the Cuttersville border, which are staffed by a massive force of army, navy, and air force personnel. No military assets are based within the region for strategic reasons. The military does not take any action regarding Assimilated Persons on a day-to-day basis but largely train to put down an uprising in the region.

That’s an overview of the situation with regards to the federal government. So far as the economy, local laws, and local situation goes, I’d say that’s more for you to decide, not me. As for the secret assimilation attempts, well, they wouldn’t be secret if I told you, now would they?

What is the opinion of the Federal Government of the Free Pacific States over the Listonia Question [IE; Was Listonia’s and Elephana’s independence from Dveria and Sevropia valid, is Listonia a valid political entity and what of Elephania?, is it a military threat with it’s attempts to buy nuclear weaponry from Vekaiyu as ‘deterrents’?]

What of the ‘Republic of Tokana’ question? [which would be a more important question I suppose, considering Tokana’s location compared to FPS’s borders, and detailed in Dovakhan’s threads [url=http://z1.invisionfree.com/forums/The_East_Pacific/index.php?showtopic=7020&view=findpost&p=5505865]here and http://z1.invisionfree.com/forums/The_East_Pacific/index.php?showtopic=7016] and which extends the same question, with their new government or attempts at new government, and total disengagement with Dovakhan, is their new nation legal? Is it a valid national entity? Is it worth risking the irked attitudes which it might cause from Dovakhan if you did extend Diplomatic Recognition or more to it?]

And on the flipside, what is the federal government’s attitude towards the action of the former Republic of Dveria, which was an independent and free republic [if a bit of a fascist right-wing nutjob republic that had a somewhat equivalent to apartheid going on between the humans within the nation and the ‘other Listonian native peoples’ during it’s time controlling the province of West Listonia, or South Dveria as all government documents called it]; and its people, to elect a King from the very very small population, a King with genetic ties to the former royal line before the republican revolution; and furthermore a King who endorsed and wholely sought annexation of Dveria as a Kingdom level territory of the High Kingdom of Warre Made all the more likely and possible because Warreic Marines and Warreic ARMS brigades were the only ones keeping the slight bit of law within the region, and making sure a Listonian strike or Sevropian annexation didn’t come from the wholely weakened territory which had lost more than 89% of it’s population because it’s government’s unleashing of a chemical weapon which caused the nation to rampage as rage zombies and lose all cognitive processes, in an attempt at a final scorched earth policy?

As well, what’s the opinion of the -people- of FPS, or a sample grouping of each?

The Federated Alliance recognized both Listonia and Elephana following the peace conference that ended the Listonian crisis. There is widespread sympathy amongst the Free Pacifican population for the Listonians and Elephanans, which made the move really popular. On the nuclear question, FPS condemns nuclear proliferation in all of its formers automatically, but it generally doesn’t comment on the nuclear programs of specific nations. The FPS government doesn’t see Elephana as a threat, given the lack of relations with the country. The Free Pacifican populace is hugely divided on the question of nuclear proliferation in general but Elephana is generally only used as an example in that debate (it isn’t a key point).

The Federated Alliance formally granted recognition to the Republic of Tokana immediately following the withdrawal of most Dovakhanese forces, though it did not request an embassy swap immediately thereafter as is customary, given concerns regarding the security situation in Tokana. Few Free Pacificans have a position on the matter, because though Tokana is close, it has next to no contact with the Federated Alliance. Those Free Pacificans with a position think it common sense to recognize Tokana, given its de facto independence.

The Federated Alliance made no comment on the Dveria matter. So far as its concerned, that’s an internal affair of the former Republic. The public couldn’t care less about that action itself, however, a lot of people dislike Dveria in general because of its actions during its occupation of West Listonia.

What is the FPS’ attitudes towards non-humans, such as Lobos and Vulpines? That also includes the citizens’ attitudes and views as well, not just the government’s.

I apologize for missing this question; I do not check this thread often.

The Free Pacifican government treats non-humans no differently from humans, so long as those humans are not connected to any sort of hive mind. Humans that are connected to a hive mind face a myriad of restrictions, largely because of Free Pacifican dealings with the Pax.

The Free Pacifican populace is diverse, so, there is a diversity of opinions. Most Free Pacificans are ambivalent towards non-humans, except for any that seem at all similar to the Pax, and this is especially true in urban areas (where non-human contact is extremely common and where the Pax drone insurrection hit hard in 2006). But just as racism endures in some areas of the Federated Alliance despite fifty years of equal rights, anti-alien sentiment does persist in some areas (especially the countryside). The Free Pacifican government, of course, does everything it can to hide occurrences of, uh, speciesism.

What is a state dinner like?

Multiple-course, fancy as hell, and unnecessarily expensive. The Free Pacifican government likes to make itself look impressive when it hosts state dinners. The dinner itself usually consists of a soup, salad, main course (usually meat based but usually with a vegetarian option), and desert.

How are state arrival ceremonies conducted?

Well, obviously, ceremonies differ depending on whose visiting. But, like with state dinners, FPS likes to make the ceremonies unnecessarily pompous, so as to honor and impress foreign dignitaries.

Just updating this to note that questions about FPS, Lyon, and Xiopothos (the latter two of which I role-play these days). I suppose you can also ask questions about the Kandarinese fleet blockading Xiopothos, though after several years, I’ve forgotten a lot of the details there.
