The rumor in the region: The Global Right Alliance is attempting (yet another!) restart. Yes, adoring crowds and regular fans of the day-time soap-drama that is government in the GRA, we are trying to start again!
This time, with the return of planetary genocide, veteran members have come back to life and started re-organizing. A draft Constitution has been placed before the region, as well as a recruitment program, basic foreign affairs and internal affairs infrastructure, and a resumption of World Assembly participation of the region, organized by the region’s newly arisen, as well as strikingly handsome and formidably intelligent, World Assembly Delegate, who also happens to be a sparkling conversationalist and who is said to be a man of great taste and high class.
Planetary genocide has agreed to head up the Recruitment department, Sedge Internal Affairs, Old Zertaxia Foreign Affairs, and Arov had agreed to be provisional President for the new republic.

Right on the heels of the (zombie-free) rise from the dead, the Global Right Alliance was making headlines again for its devilish and devious capture of City in the Sky from the forces of the dread-evil-doer, Falconias, may-his-name-forever-be-spat-upon-by-the-little-children. The battle lines were drawn at dawn, in crayon, by the contestors and the battle commenced. The GRA forces, led by War-Master in Chief General Sedge, DABOMB (Doctor of Artillery, Battle Orders, Menacing and Badassery), reigned victorious, largely in part to his brilliant use of the crack 2nd Ninja-Clerics Jurassic Division, a troop of superiorly endowed dinosaur ninja-clerics.
However, the magnificent soldiers of the glorious Global Right Alliance forces cannot be held solely responsible for the thrashing that City in the Sky armies suffered at their hands. This epic win depended a lot the epic fail of enemy forces. Just look at pictures of what was claimed to be “the best logistics City in the Sky can offer,” according to an unnamed source in the City in the Sky military organization:

Invaders Beware: You’re in for a Beat-Down
Global Right Alliance Defensive Forces Reforms, Menaces Invader Community
“GRADF forces reforming under War-Master in Chief, General Sedge, DABOMB.”
Shortly after the (zombie-free) rise from the dead of the Global Right Alliance and a brilliant victory over City in the Sky, Global Right Alliance officials announced that the Global Right Alliance Defensive Forces, better known as the GRADF, has been reformed and is taking new recruits from the active citizenry of the Global Right Alliance (see how many times we fit "Global Right Alliance into one sentence? Yah, thats right, we’re awesome at wording). War-Master in Chief, General Sedge, DABOMB, was overhead commenting, “Its about time we gave those nancy-raiders a bit of the old what-for!” Crowds were left puzzling out the meaning, but cheered joyously nevertheless.
President Arov marked the occasion by opening the OMAHD Bar and announcing that the state would be taking care of the tab that night. The next day, nothing was left of the OMAHD, except some bits of wire and hooks, and President Arov announced that a costly rebuild was in the planning, which was much with much rejoicing.

Just to say, whilst that is the most recent update, it’s a little outdated due to major changes in the last week or two. For example, Arov has resigned as President and we’re now about to have an emergency vote for a new one, current nominations are Uropa and Sedge. Old Z, who writes the updates, has said he’ll do a new one soon.

Amidst great celebrations, the first edition of the military publication The Swords and Phoenix hit shelves today. Branded as the GRAs primary source for military news, its editors Sedge and Northern Chittowa today predicted great things for the regions latest publication.
When asked to give his views on TSaP, Sedge responded with It is without doubt one of the finest things I have ever had the pleasure of working upon. Working with Northern Chittowa is a dream come true and I am positive that together we can bring military issues to the forefront of regional politics. Northern Chittowa expanded on this by saying While TSaP will concentrate on the GRADF, it will also have articles detailing the wider military issues around Nationstates, such as the latest commend and condemn proposals and Liberation proposals.
With the reformation of the Global Right Alliance Defence Force (GRADF) there is no doubt that The Swords and Phoenix will have plenty to report about.

With great celebrations throughout the region and the Nationstates world, it was announced that the long defunct Global Right Alliance Defence Force (GRADF) has been reformed, much to the dismay of invaders.
As a force, the GRADF has had a long and glorious history, having taken part in some of Nationstates most famous battles, including Iraq and Valhalla, while spawning some of the greatest military leaders ever seen in Defender circles. Northern Chittowa, one of the original soldiers of the GRADF when it was first formed back in 2005 is adamant that the glory days of the forces will be seen once again, The GRADF is something the region can be proud of. With Sedge at the helm, I am certain it will be involved in even greater battles than it has seen in the past, and be an even greater threat to raiders than it has ever been before!
The successful reformation has not gone unnoticed by notable figures within the Nationstates world. Anime Daisuki, one of the leading stars in defending today, was very pleased to see the GRADF back on the battlefield proclaiming, that some great defenders [came] from GRA back in the day. There are high expectations that the GRADF will once again produce these great defenders, and The Swords and Phoenix fully lends its support to the idea that the GRADF is the one of the leading defender forces that has ever been seen on the battlefield!

Iran Invaders declare a Fatwa on the GRA. Regional leaders say Bring it on!

In response to the growing presence of the GRADF in defender circles, a small invader group has recently declared a Fatwa upon the GRA and its armed forces. Claiming that the GRADF has unfairly infringed upon the rights of native sovereignty within the region of Iran in an attempt to legitimise its own invasion, the invader leader has falsely accused the GRADF of being Foreign Devils and of doing immeasurable wrongs to the Iranian people. The defender response to such claims have thus far been apathetic, with most regarding it as nothing more than simplistic attempts to ruffle feathers with no real basis in reality. Speaking to The Swords and Phoenix the commander of the GRADF, General Sedge, stated that it was obvious that the GRADF was doing something right, if a fatwa has already been declared upon them!
The Swords and Phoenix Stands behind the GRADF in its attempts to combat raiders regardless of any Fatwas or other similar condemnations placed upon them. As long as Invaders attempt to force their will on other regions, the GRADF will make moves to stop them!

Arov leaves office
Back in February, a provisional government was set up to oversee the GRA’s rebirth. Led by President Arov, the Cabinet was:

Following this set up, a whole host of changes occurred, beginning with Cascatopia becoming Internal Affairs Minister, as Sedge took up the newly created position of Intel Minister. Shortly after this, Cascatopia became inactive, leaving the position vacant. Planetary Genocide also became inactive, leaving Recruitment vacant. Thanks mostly to the efforts of Sedge, these vacancies had minimum impact as he maintained the duties of both departments. Old Zertaxia then resigned as Foreign Affairs Minister, and was quickly replaced by Joe Bobs.
The GRA then held http://s11.zetaboards.com/GlobalRightAlliance/topic/7273160/1/#new since the rebirth, as G-tech Corp and Jonewest took on Old Zertaxia for the position of Chief Justice. Jonewest quickly withdrew. http://s11.zetaboards.com/GlobalRightAlliance/topic/7270598/2/#new was that new players should be given a chance in government, and that Old Zertaxia, as a veteran GRA-er, would have naturally developed biases. http://s11.zetaboards.com/GlobalRightAlliance/topic/7270594/1/#new was that bias was irrelevant to the position of Chief Justice, as the laws are written to be interpreted in one way only, and that experience was vital for the position. Old Zertxia won the election with 12 votes to 6.
Arov’s Presidency came to an end as http://s11.zetaboards.com/GlobalRightAlliance/topic/7272233/1/#new by the whole region. Several key members, led by then Intel Minister Sedge, had been http://s11.zetaboards.com/GlobalRightAlliance/topic/7268328/3/#new partly due to his low activity and partly due to his micro-managing of departments, especially the highly secretive Intel Department. Arov’s fate was sealed when his last supporter, Uropa, joined in the call for his resignation. Arov stepped down, leading Chief Justice Old Zertaxia to call for a http://s11.zetaboards.com/GlobalRightAlliance/topic/7272435/1/#new to accept his resignation and the proposal for an emergency election. This was accepted, and two candidates emerged, Sedge and Uropa.

We began with 15 nations at the start of February. At the time of writing, 23/03/10, there are 342 nations in the GRA. We are looking to see if this is the biggest comeback in NS history.
Recruitment was mainly down to Sedge throughout February and early March, but in the last week or two, The Reuscher Empire, Joe Bobs and Lower Bowmania have begun to recruit too.

A huge boom in popularity of the many http://s11.zetaboards.com/GlobalRightAlliance/forum/3006144/ threads has occurred, with many new players becoming the most active there.
The (edited for less foul-mouthed regions) http://s11.zetaboards.com/GlobalRightAlliance/topic/306563/6/#new of the GRA has recently been updated. For those who don’t know, the meter describes the personality of the GRA’s most prominent members according to a three tier system, inspired by the film Team America: World Police. there was some debate as to who should be allowed on the meter, with the conclusion being that one must spend several years in the region, make several thousand posts, or be of an incredibly ‘outstanding’ character in order to make the meter.

Bits and Bobs
-http://s11.zetaboards.com/GlobalRightAlliance/topic/7269507/7/#new: Last week saw a popular Star Wars theme for the week, and this week sees 20th and 21st Century Leaders as Part I of the World Leaders Across History series. All members are encouraged to join in. There is a loosely held competition for who can have the funniest/most interesting/most fitting/most obscure avatar.
-GRA copy cat? A region spawned by two players who were short-term residents in the GRA, named the New Global Right Alliance, was quickly discovered by the game mods, who changed its name to http://www.nationstates.net/region=united%20global%20alliance.
-The GRA recently submitted a proposal to the World Assembly http://s11.zetaboards.com/GlobalRightAlliance/topic/7275901/2/#new, co-written by G-Tech Corp (who wrote 90% of it) and Joe Bobs (who wrote the adjectives). Joe Bobs telegrammed 150 delegates to gain support for the proposal, but unfortunately it was shot down by moderators who deleted it due to the phrase ‘despicable, cowardly and physically unappealing Falconias.’ The proposal began as our very own Sedge was awarded with NationStates | World Assembly Resolutions by the WA, which led to a discussion culminating in the idea that the GRA deserves to be recognised for its individuality, but due to its personality, deserved to condemned. Curiously, another player, Clima, of NationStates | The European Union, also tried to condemn the GRA, by proxy of making others in his region submit it. Those players were ejected from the WA and their proposals deleted. Several residents of the region told us Clima had ‘gone mad’ and fled to join the GRA, as he banjected most of the region. It remains unknown as to what caused Clima’s outburst.

-Sadly, this week saw the closure of the region http://www.nationstates.net/region=the%20new%20power%20federation, a close friend of the GRA’s, of which Sedge was the founder. The GRA has absorbed all its active members, and we take this opportunity to welcome them all.
-The GRA was made aware of http://s7.zetaboards.com/FRA/topic/8256483/1/#new at our unwavering war against him, which he posted in the FRA. He was invited to come to the GRA to argue his cause, but he did not reply. The GRA will not back down in its campaign against the unjust Falconias, and will continue to wage war against him.
-Arov, a long time member of the GRA, http://s11.zetaboards.com/GlobalRightAlliance/topic/7274486/1/#new from NationStates this week, but has since returned to the forums, stating he will continue to post in the OMAHD Bar and in any other RL discussions.
-The GRA has finally created a new flag to replace the old anarchy symbol design, which many felt was outdated. The new design can be seen at the top of this update.
-The GRA now has an official mascot. He is a teenage Filipino boy by the name of Alejandro (or rather, Alejandro II) who is ‘employed’ by Old Zertaxia as a typist.
