EMPEROR INVOLVED IN MINOR VEHICLE ACCIDENT
CORRIDOIO BIANCO, IP (NOV. 15, 2006) – Emperor Richardson, today, was involved in a vehicular accident, when he was driving a personal vehicle just outside the city of Corridoio Bianco. The driver of the other vehicle involved in the accident attempted the turn left, westbound onto 21st Avenue from South Westchester Street, when the emperor’s vehicle, traveling southbound from North Westchester Street to South Westchester Street, struck her vehicle in the intersection.

CBPD issued a police report, following an investigation, which confirmed Richardson’s statements. The driver of the other vehicle alleged she had the right-of-way, and that the emperor simply disregarded such. But when police reviewed the intersection’s traffic cameras and accompanying data, she was issued a citation for failure to yield. Neither driver sustained injury, but the emperor was flown to his residence in Ycraes, where his brother, Delegate Nicholas Richardson, later arrived to visit him.

DEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATED
Gnidrah celebrated its two-year anniversary, on Monday, December 11th. As cited of Dependence Day:

— Begin quote from ____

On this day, of the year 2004, the nation and government of Gnidrah were officially founded. Gnidrah was named after the preexisting Gnidrah University, which played a major role in the forming of a formal government, and establishing its leader.

The nation was initially a breakaway colony of the nation 1 Infinite Loop. The colony gained its independence from its native nation in 1863. Before its establishment as a nation, the colony council realized the need for an emperor, found the closest living relation to the 1 Infinite Loop emperor, and appointed him emperor.

The emperor was a student at Gnidrah University at the time, and was a prince of his homeland. Matthew Richardson took on the role as emperor, on December 11, 2004, thus finalizing the formation of the new nation and government of Gnidrah.

— End quote

A parade in Ycraes took place, and other capital cities in the nation also partook in parades and other forms celebrations. After the parade, there was a large fireworks display, and a grand ball, for invited officials, dignitaries, and honorable guests only. Emperor Richardson addressed the nation from the event. All government offices were closed Monday.

CHRISTMAS CELEBRATION SLATED
The Government of Gnidrah has scheduled a series of events celebrating birth, life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ, to be held on Christmas Eve. After Sunday morning church services, a series of public seminars, concerts, and other Christian displays of the national holiday will take place.

“The theme will be ‘Christmas: A Year-Round Celebration,’” said event coordinator Bobby Joiner. “While there is much too much for me to share with you this very moment, the centralized idea is that Christmas goes beyond just the night of Jesus’ birth; it stretches through the years, beyond our lives, to the end of time. As one of the Christian music artists you’ll hear Sunday put it, we are all characters in the never-ending story of Christmas; the story of God showing His love for us by sending His one and only Son to live with us and to die for us, so we could be forgiven and have everlasting life in Heaven.”

While the Government is presenting the Christmas-themed events, the Imperial Capitol stated attendance is not manditory. “Gnidrah’s official way-of-life is Christianity,” Emperor Matthew Richardson stated in a press conference, advertising the event. “But that doesn’t mean we are going to force anyone to participate, in any way. We respect that there are religions opposite of the Christian lifestyle. Everyone is invited to attend the day’s event, but they are also encouraged to celebrate the holiday, or any other holiday, in their own special way.”

GN | Radio and Television Editions will be covering the events. Those of our readers, viewers, and listeners who do not wish to follow our coverage of the Christmas events are invited to instead switch to our sister publication/broadcasts, khronikos®. They will be covering every-day happenings to Boxing Day, which isn’t even a Gnidrahn holiday. Enjoy!

FORD UNVEILS WORLD’S FIRST
YCRAES, SA (JAN. 23, 2007) – Ford Motor of Gnidrah (FMGn) today unveiled the world’s first drivable fuel cell hybrid electric plug-in that combines an onboard hydrogen fuel cell generator with lithium-ion batteries to deliver more than 41 mpg with zero emissions. The HySeries Drive powertrain delivers a combined city/highway gasoline equivalent fuel economy rating of 41 mpg. For those who drive less than 50 miles each day, the average jumps to more than 80 mpg.

The plug-in hybrid is powered by a 336-volt lithium-ion battery pack at all times. The vehicle drives the first 25 miles each day on stored electricity alone, after which the fuel cell begins operating to keep the battery pack charged. This provides another 200 miles of range for a total of 225 miles with zero emissions. The Ford Edge with HySeries Drive can travel at speeds of up to 85 mph. An on-board charger (110/220 VAC) can refresh the battery pack when a standard home outlet is available, making the concept a true plug-in hybrid.

“I am encouraged by the progress in technologies and alternate energy sources joint-research team is making,” commented M.J. Loftuer, Director of the Gnidrahn Department of Energy. “This group, composed of researchers and developers from the government council and FMGn are looking into hydrogen, including the Ford Edge with HySeries Drive, as part of our overall effort to address the challenges of climate change and energy independence.”

But don’t look for these vehicles to hit the markets anytime soon. Each one is expensive to manufacture, thus making it too expensive for the average consumer, though research is underway to lower cost of production while maintaining the ultimate goals of the operation. Meanwhile, an exploratory committee has been formed to enter talks with Kelssek, one of the region’s leaders in the initiative to do away with the dependence on and use of fossil fuels, reduce or eliminate vehicle emissions, and reduce if not rid the nation of pollution. The Government of Gnidrah seeks to work with the Government of Kelssek in a united effort to make both nations’ environments cleaner.

CONFLICTING SCHEDULES
Gnidrahn government, today, received scheduling information for the East Pacific delegate’s State of the Region address. The speech, Delegate Richardson’s first since taking office in May of last year, is scheduled for Thursday, February 15, at 1200 UTC, we’ve learned. That’s 9:00 p.m. in the region’s capital, and 3:00 p.m. in Gnidrah, which just so happens to be the time Emperor Richardson’s State of the Nation address is set to take place. Both addresses are being broadcast live, which causes quite a scheduling conflict in Gnidrah.

But news networks involved have come up with the solution: local and national networks will cover the emperor’s address, while regional and global networks will cover the delegate’s address, leaving follow-up newscasts and publications to recap both speeches. With the emperor and delegate being brothers, the question was raised of whether or not the conflict of schedules was a family feud for attention. A Gnidrahn government official responded, “The Richardson brothers were neither directly nor indirectly involved in the scheduling process of the respective addresses. This was clearly a coincidence.”

GNIDRAHN TEAM RESPONSIBLE FOR DELAYS
RILLANON CITY, CI – A team of IT professionals, administrators and technicians deployed out of Gnidrah are apparently responsible for a delay in the restructuring of the regional government’s server system. The team was sent to the capital city last week to rebuild the server infrastructure of the East Pacific government, and were anticipated to complete the job by this past weekend. But the team has since been delayed, having to stop work on the system due to time constraints and other circumstances which have forced the team back to Gnidrah for the remainder of the week. The group will reportedly return Friday to complete the tasks, leaving the servers, and all those supported by it, in limbo for the time being.

INC. ACQUIRES GN
Corridoio Bianco-based International News Corporation (Inc.) has acquired Gnidrah News (GN) from Ycraes-based Lanruoj Media Network (LMN), the parent company of Gnidrah News since its inception two years ago. GN and its divisions, which include print, Radio, Television, Internet, and International Editions, were sought and bought by Inc. in an attempt to revitalize the news group’s standing in world news.

Inc.'s marketing division will be rebranding GN as part of the revitalization process. The main edition of GN will be Inc. | Gnidrah, for print and Internet-based text, while the others will be consolidated into two: Inc. | audio, for radio and podcasts; and Inc. | video, for television and Internet-based video. (Final brand names subject to change.)

In addition to rebranding, Inc. plans to reformat the layout and design of GN and its content, though no specific details have emerged from the acquisition. LMN, meanwhile, will maintain khronikos®, once GN’s sister publication/broadcast service, and LMNtv. While no other information is available as of this article’s posting, Inc. is expected to establish a syndication division for the Kelssek Broadcasting Corporation’s (KBC) world-famous KBC World Service.

SPECIAL REPORT

Gnidrah Reallocates Troops, Funding
In an unexpected move, today, Gnidrah’s Department of Defense withdrew 25 percent of its troops from the East Pacific Treaty Organization’s Emergency Action Force reserve. The Divisions of the Army, Air Force and Navy are down to 187.5, 150 and 112.5 thousand from 250, 200 and 150 thousand, respectively.

The Government has declined comment, except to say they are “re-prioritizing.” According to our sources, there have been no reports of military threat to Gnidrah, which leaves skeptics wondering. “It makes me curious enough to think [the Defense Department] might know something and just aren’t telling us,” claimed Melanie Starnes, a concerned citizen.

John Hodges, a military analyst, disagrees. “It appears to me as though the Gnidrahn military is repositioning itself to be in a better aggressive situation. You can’t tell me that a military of its size and class is on the bench, just waiting to play defense.” We should note that the exact number of soldiers serving is not available to the public, but we are told that it makes up a “healthy portion” of Gnidrah’s population.

In addition to the troop decrease, the Government also reduced funding to the EPTO EAF by 25 percent. Funding is down to 187.5 to 375 million ytisrevinu (GD) per month from 250 to 500 million GD per month. (EPTO EAF statistics and information are generally open to the public, which is why Inc. is able to report on these changes.)

Report: New Police Vehicle Spotted
YCRAES, SA – Citizens in the capital city are becoming increasingly aware of and concerned over a new police car. The vehicle, a late-model Ferrari F430, appears to be an unmarked cruiser, equipped with concealed lights and a siren, and likely a radar gun and onboard camera system.

Amateur photograph of the new Ferrari police car

Aside from the usual concern of it being an unmarked patrol car (the number of unmarked police vehicles is becoming increasingly popular among the nation’s law enforcement agencies, and increasingly unpopular among the nation’s population), the citizens are more upset over the likely price of the F430 – an estimated $173,079. That sticker price would set it even higher than that of Emperor Richardson’s Bentley, which reportedly cost the citizens of Gnidrah $169,990, though it is likely Bentley discounted the price.

Rumors of the Ferrari’s existence began circulating earlier this month, with seemingly bogus claims cited by those who have either seen it in action or have been pulled over by it. But when we received photographic evidence (see the photo above), rumor became reality. Upon examining the snapshot, the automobile does portray a government-issue license plate, with what appears to be “EX1 985” as its number.

“EX” is one of the prefixes used by Gnidrahn law enforcement agencies, while the following “1” indicates it is not a Metropolitan Police Department vehicle, which would have “0” instead, but rather a Sasnakra state police car. (The numbers one through five are reserved for the five states of Gnidrah.) None of our speculation is deemed official, as area police agencies and the government have declined comment. But it is all very likely, it would seem.

Gnidrah Cedes, Annexes Land
The Government of Gnidrah, today, announced its acquisition of two islands off the southeastern coast of the East Pacific mainland. The two islands were once part of Imatron, a chain of islands southwest of Christie Island, home to the region’s capital.

In a deal between the two governments, an agreement overseen by the regional government was made that would allow Gnidrah to acquire the two islands if it ceded two of its existing land plots. Centralis and Imperi, Gnidrah’s two northeastern-most states, were ultimately relinquished. (The northern island has been named Nautikos, while the southern island is called Christianus.)

Citizens of the two former Gnidrahn states have mixed emotions. While the measure was put to vote among the population of both states, and ultimately received a large majority of votes in-favor of the agreement, some are feeling a little slighted. “I didn’t want for this to happen, and I seriously didn’t think it would,” one Imperi resident said. “This has been home to my family and I; our community. It isn’t right it’s pretty much being taken from us.”

A Centralis citizen thought otherwise. “Man, this is going to be great! Sure, it’s going to be a bit of a burden packing up and moving so far away. And yes, it’s going to be sad to leave this place behind. But in the end, I feel it will be worth it to live in a ‘tropical paradise’ for a change.”

Citizens have until the end of the year (December 31) to either move to the islands, move to another state or nation, or simply stay put. If they have not left the area by then, their citizenships will expire. The Government is offering financial and miscellaneous aid to those moving to another Gnidrahn state for the next six months, while the transition phase is in full swing.

Update: Special Report
Tuesday, we brought you a special report on the Gnidrah Department of Defense reallocating troops and funding by withdrawing 25 percent from the East Pacific Treaty Organization’s Emergency Action Force. While we still have no official word as to why, it would seem the move was in preparation for today’s acquisition of two islands northeast of Codex.

In addition to several commercial transportation and commutes to and from mainland and offshore Gnidrah, fleets of water vessels and aircraft (both carrying troops and land vehicles, among other standard military equipment) could be seen en route to, arriving at, and even already occupying the new states.

It’s estimated that perhaps some 112,500 troops of all three divisions have been deployed to the islands, so far, while the remaining 337,500 of the withdrawn EAF troops are occupying the two ceded states, as well as perhaps Gnidrah’s three mainland states. It is believed that some of the military movement is in relation to the Government’s aid program for moving citizens, while the majority of the deployment is to assume control over existing, abandoned military bases, and possibly look to renovate them and/or establish more.
