Historical Summary: We recently toppled a dictatorship that had succeeded from the Union. November of 2020 we reunified as the new nation of Ilesland. Our previous nation was divided along the West/East border, the East being under control of a group called The Civil Military, who were known for torturing and brutalizing the people of The East. The Republic of Ilesland was initially the Monarchical country of Wintrefell (no relation), founded in 1755. There was a coup that resulted in benevolent dictators controlling Wintrefell from the early 2000s until 2010 when there was another coup. This one placed a new democratic official in office, who was a member of the old Royal Family. They were removed and imprisoned for funding domestic terrorists. The next President founded the Civil Military to protect against terrorism. The Civil Military executed the president and became a violent dictatorship for a short time, before being overthrown. They then took over the East from about 2017 until 2020.
