Historical Summary:
(claim map with proposed terrain modifications above)
Innya is a temperate, cold nation in East Novaris divided by an imposing mountain range that runs from north to south. To the east, fertile plains and valleys host agricultural areas and vibrant urban centers, while the more isolated and rugged western side harbors dense forests and ancient temples, preserving a spiritual heritage essential to the kitsunemimi who constitute the vast ethnic majority of the nation. The capital, Sayut, strategically located at the country’s center on the western side of the mountains, represents cultural diversity and serves as a symbol of unity for the nation, chosen as a meeting place for the country’s many regional leaders. The largest city, Yumarii, situated in the eastern plains, is the economic and cultural heart, where trade and agricultural production thrive.
Historically, Innya maintained a certain isolation due to natural barriers and a strong cultural identity. Its society formed amidst recurring invasions from nomadic tribes from the south, considered barbaric, who, despite repeated attempts, were successfully repelled. Over time, these challenges strengthened internal unity and consolidated it under the current dynasty, The Kyomari, one of the oldest ones in Urth with roots tracing back to the first unifying rulers; who over time assumed a role as the nation’s supreme spiritual leaders, with the Empress also holding the religious title of matriarch of Innya. The Innyans developed the Aysurim language, and although they adopted a foreign religion and languages, the Akuanism faith and in some cases Nys’tat’en language that crossed their borders in past eras, they have created their own unique sect, centered on reverence for a goddess associated with spring and renewal, worshipped through rites that express cycles of rebirth and fertility. Innya’s culture deeply values social hierarchy and traditions, marked by a modern nobility mostly on the principle of being better prepared, educated from childhood for their “social responsibilities”. These authorities are responsible for maintaining customs and rituals that guide daily life, striking a balance between innovation and preservation.
In addition to its strong political structure, Innya is deeply shaped by a culture that values connection with nature and a refined aesthetic, reflected in both traditional architecture and everyday objects, with subtle tones and harmonious forms that follows a series of ancient aesthetic principles that value harmony. Faith permeates every aspect of daily life, influencing everything from social protocol to the hierarchical organization, with reverence for deities guiding actions and ceremonies. In a society where lineage and ancestry are highly respected, wisdom and longevity are essential virtues. The kitsunemimi, with their long lives compared to humans, honor their elders and consult them as guardians of the their memory and traditions.
Coming-of-age rituals are carefully performed to reinforce young people’s commitment to preserving Innya’s values. These rituals emphasize respect for the environment and spiritual beings, as well as moments of integration between generations. Due to a low birth rate and the vulnerability of children to illness, protecting the youth is a priority, and hygiene is a strong collective value upheld in homes and public spaces alike, quite permanent in religion; culminating in the valorization of social discipline and hierarchy in the traditions present in everyday life.Innya’s political system is a unique confederation where autonomous provinces are united under the central figure of the Empress, who serves as head of state and archduchess of her ancestral province. Each province maintains its own form of governance — from local monarchies to the crown republics and even some small academic ‘rectorates’ rulled in a technocratic logic. — This confederative system allows each province to preserve its local customs and traditions while contributing to the strengthening of national unity.
While largely independent in internal matters, the provinces are committed to respecting and honoring the confederative constitutional principles that keep Innya cohesive, including respect for social hierarchy and the symbolic role of faith in the structures of power. The confederal council, composed of representatives from each province, deliberates on matters of national interest, ensuring that collective welfare remains a priority. Innyan politics highly values lineage and ancestry, with the expected result being a system that balances local autonomy with a shared national identity, symbolized by the Empress and upheld through a protocol that unites faith, nature, and culture in a harmonious equilibrium. The two biggest parties in Innya politics are the Constitutionalist Party and the Innya Reformist Party (IRP)
