To celebrate five years of friendly Arkian-Alyunthian relations the Kaiserin of Arkalarius, Ilse Erika von Freyaelv, is traveling to Alyunthia for a diplomatic meeting and symbolic joint speech with the High Matron of Alyunthia, Jessica Ailin.
With a click of her heels on the marble floor of the capital building, Ilse and her entourage arrive at the doors to the room where the joint interview and diplomatic meeting will take place.
“Otto, do remember to stop by the League of Novaris embassy here, we owe them a visit. You know what to do, I’ve already signed the application.” says Ilse, glancing over at her secretary.
“Of course madam.” he says in response, smiling knowingly, “It shall be done.”
This short exchange over, Ilse opens the doors to the chamber behind, walking in with a hand raised in friendly greeting while the reporters in the room begin taking photos and recording the meeting. She reaches the center of the room, and takes a seat in the chair next to the High Matron, who she greets cordially, and proffers a hand to shake.
“It is with great pleasure that I meet you once again Madam Matron, please, do tell me what we will be discussing in today’s interview with the press.”
The press were very eager to get the news about this 5 year alliance with Arkalarius. Ever since the Kaiserin took her throne, Alyunthia was quick to form an alliance with them due to them having a female leader. Now we are celebrating this joyous moment.
High Matriarch Jessica Ailin, was wearing one of her best suits, as she was flanked by members of her personal guard. The capital building was swarming with journalists and news outlets from all over Alyunthia. The police were good at keeping them at bay. Once Jessica received word that the Kaiserin has safely made it to the capitol building, she would then head to the meeting room. She walked to the center and smiles, shaking Ilse’s hand very gently
“The pleasure is all mine. I thank you for coming back to our home. As you can see, my people are very excited to see you in person.” Jessica would sit down next to the Kaiserin as the reporters took their seats, some of them snapping last minute photos. "As for our discussion, well we will be discussing the future of our alliance. The reporters will ask their own questions. "
Jessica would then turn to the reporters and address them “It is hard to believe that it has been 5 years since we have first allied Arkalarius. They have become a good ally, lead by a strong woman. Kaiserin Ilse has done many great things for her nation and has graced us with her presence today to help celebrate this momentous occasion. Alyunthia will continue to honor the alliance it has made, and we aim to provide even more support to make the bond between our nations even closer.” Jessica would then sit down and allow for Kaiserin Illse to say anything before the questions begin.
While the press snap more photos and Otto runs off to the nearby League of Novaris embassy, the Kaiserin and the High Matriach finish their pre-press conference discussion.
Once Jessica had finished with her address to the crowd of reporters Ilse quickly follows up with
“Indeed, it is truly wonderful to think that the strong alliance between our two nations has already become 5 years old. And yet, even in 10, 15 or even 50 years I have no doubt our alliance will remain strong.”
She shifts in her seat slightly, and turns back to the High Matriach.
“Shall we begin our press conference now?” she says, gesturing to the reporters with one hand.
“I know for sure the press themselves are eagerly awaiting it, no doubt to thoroughly question us.”
One of the reporters stands up, “Jennifer Mons, Matriarchal Times. Kaiserin Ilse, this is a question from the people. The people of the Alyunthia wish to know whether or not if you will have another female succeed you or not.”
High Matriarch Jessica Ailin would not comment on that question considering that it was not her place to answer. Though internally, she would feel like if a male heir was declared, the Alyunthia Matriarchal Regime will still keep their alliance but interact with Arkalarius via a female diplomat. But she knew her people. They were trained to adore and praise female leaders.
Ilse smiles, and shrugs noncommittally. “It is beyond my power to say that we will or will not, as although we are a monarchy, we practice a senatorial election through a form of representative democracy. The next empress, or possibly emperor, may very well be of the imperial family, but other royal families have existed since the days Arkia was a kingdom, and any house elevated to this status may propose an heir when the time comes.” says Ilse.
“So although I personally do feel a woman would do a much better job of it-“ she says, chuckling “-I will not be the one to decide. Now then, any more questions?”
