Historical Summary:

The Jarldom of Lapliszna is a landlocked nation in the far north eastern corner of Borea. The Jarldom was released from Blaskog after 70 years of direct Blaskovian rule, now under the direct control of the social media sensation Estra Ciriliadatur daughter of the Blaskovian king Carl IX. Released in the 1990s due to internal financial struggles within the Blaskovian budget. Blaskog interests in the region didn’t disappear, they established a strict provisional government made up of former military officers from the Blaskovian military. The provisional government, Carl IX and a committee of Akuan theologians gather together to write up the constitution. While it guarantees that the monarch of Lapliszna will always be an Akuanist and secured many other religious matters. The primary failure of the framework was the lack of detail it provided into the democratic process, with the theologians representing the Nystapi people citing the issue will be further developed in later documents. Resulting in the government framework establishing a semi-democratic theologian assembly and extremely loose defined restrictions on the monarchy. While on paper the elected theologians would have a large sway in how the government is operated but in reality all means of actual control all power lies within the monarchy itself and the military forces under its command. The provisional government became more permanent, and the monarchy seat was assigned to Carl IX’s youngest daughter, with the understatement she will not inherit the Blaskog kingdom throne.

The land always had a degree of autonomy during its short period of Blaskog domination, during which its people the Nystapi, had their cultural rights protected but the people’s right to the land and more importantly its resources stolen by the Elven Blaskovian elite. The practice of the Elven ownership over the land has never been rescinded, as many of the original families that settled in the country still maintain ownership over many of the land’s resources.

Nystapi as a people are cultural cousin to the Nystatinnes with similar language with a more Blaskovian accent, close cultural traditions and devoted Akuanists. For centuries the Nystapi people made their existence on reindeer raising and living a religious agrarian nomadic lifestyle. Reindeer grew to be a core part of Nystapi culture, becoming a foundation of all communities. With reindeer being a part of the community as much as the Nystapi themselves. The nomadic bands roamed throughout northern parts of Borea thousands of years, gathering stories and selling their wares from parts they made from reindeer. However their grazing grounds they had visit for generations was being fenced off or they was driven off by the various Zrei kingdoms in the late 200s. During which they began to be persecuted for their nomadic lifestyle and was slowly forced back into the Eastern Borea and in the early 400s the various bands formed a federation together in order to be secure themselves.
The Federation period resulted in a growth period for Nystapi and massive traveling cities. The Era of peace, trade and culture was violently drawn to a close by the Blaskovian invasion in 1920.

The 1920 was a period of empire expansion for both Zreiru’a empire and the Blaskog. They was drunk on conquest with dreams of a united Borea. The Nystapi fail victim to conquest drunk Blaskovian empire, who overwhelmed them with technological advances in warfare. The empire forced the nomads to settle into one place, nearly drove the reindeer to extinction and forced them to raise more profitable animals.
The harsh policy on reindeer was reversed in 1935, only lasting 15 years but it’s dramatic affect on the Nystapi was shown for generations after. Only regaining the number of reindeer they previously had in 1980s.

The Blaskovian government established heavy cultural protections for the Nystapi, mostly as a deterrent towards the minor nobility of Blaskog who owned the land itself. Forcing the nobility to work around and against the cultural protections, instead against the Blaskovian king.
