Historical Summary: A former Morstaybishlian colony. Originally populated by the Tsuri peoples. The first colony was established at Ander’s Point in 1791, with preparations first being made after the 1st Morstobishlian-Norgsveltian War (1754-1766). Kurandia saw an influx of refugees from western Borea during The Great War as one of the few places in the area that wasn’t being actively invaded and that had a relatively liberal government. During the Auroran Imperial War, a squadron of Kurandian soldiers was sent south to fight on the front lines on the orders of Morstaybishlian prime minister Ian Crowcasa. Less than half of them returned home. This spurred a rise in national consciousness and growing hostility to the idea of direct Morst rule. In 1984, two new constitutions were drafted that set out Kurandia’s future as an independent country: one advertised a “clean break”, whereas the other still kept many ties with its former colonial master. The latter was approved via a narrow referendum victory.
