Lazlowia Redux

“Well, foreword is forewarned.”- Crow T. Robot

Since there isn’t too much going on on the RP scene, I thought of making some ammends on Lazlowia. Most likely it will contradict some earlier RP posts. This will be under construction for some time.

I. General Information

Note: Algaisia was occupied by Lazlowia back in 2008, and was made a puppet state. So, I control both Lazlowia and Algaisia. I admit it was not my best RP move, but such is life.

III. Geography

Lazlowia consists of three big inslands, Main Insland, Lajos Island and János Island, and several small coastal islands. The eastern regions of Main Island are covered with mountains, with most of the population living at the northern and western coastal regions. The two other islands are also covered with mountains.

Most of the mountainous islands are covered in tropical rainforest and volcanic in origin. The highest mountain is Mount Zöldtetõ, which measures up to 2,954 meters above sea level and is located on the Main Island. The longest river is the Vatta River which goes through Bükk and Holodna counties. The largest natural lake is the Lake Bakony, however the Lake Sebes, and artificial reservoir created after the construction of the Sebes dam in 1983 on the River Sebes.

Lazlowia experiences frequent seismic and volcanic activity. Around 20 Urthquakes are registered yearly, though most are too weak to be felt. The last major Urthquake was in 1989.

Due to the volcanic nature of the islands, mineral deposits are abundant. The country is estimated to have large gold and copper deposits. It is also rich in nickel, chromite, and zinc. Geothermal energy is another product of volcanic activity that the country has harnessed, although it makes up only a small percentage of the country’s energy sources.

Lazlowia tends to have a humid continental climate and a humid subtropical climate, and is affected by the monsoon, with precipitation heavier in summer during a short rainy season, which begins end of June through the end of July. The average winter temperature range is −7 °C to 1 °C, and the average Summer temperature range is 22 °C to 30 °C. Winter temperatures are higher along the southern coast and considerably lower in the mountainous interior. The country has four distinct seasons. Rainfall is concentrated in the summer months of June through September. The southern coast is subject to late summer typhoons that bring strong winds and heavy rains.

IV. Government

According to the 2006 constitution, Lazlowia is a Communist State, following the principles of Marxism-Leninism. The Communist Party of Lazlowia is the official governing party.

The head of state is the president, who is elected by the parliament. The president has the power to appoint the Chairman of the Council of Ministers, and to veto any law. The president is elected for five years.

The Council of Ministers is the executive branch. The chairman is the head of the executive branch and he appoints the other ministers. The Chairman of the National Planing Board is also a member of the Council, but he is elected by the Parliament, and not appointed by the Chairman of the Council.

The Chairman of the Council is elected every four years in a general election, however, the Party nominates the candidates.

The Parliament is the legistlative branch. Only the Communist Party has representetives in the Parliament, to avoid factionalism.

V. Demographics

According to the latest 2007 census 95% of the people declared themselves Lazlowian. The remaining 5% is made up of various minorities, however there are no minorities that stand out as particularly large in numbers. As the majority of the Lazlowians are of Hungarian descent, they speak the Hungarian language. Hungarian is the official language, and only 1% of the people can’t speak Hungarian. No other languages are officially recognized.

60% of the Lazlowians are Roman Catholic Chritstian, 20% are Jewish, 0.5% are Reformed Christian, 0.5% are Baptist Christian, 0.1% are Other Christian, 0.1% are Other Religion and 18.% are Atheist.
