Historical Summary:
Evidence shows that people had inhabited the area of modern-day Cescolia approximately 25,000 years ago, developing a unique culture some time in 3000’s BCE. The various settlements and towns eventually coalesced into a number of unified kingdoms circa 300 CE. By the 800’s CE, the Cescolian Kingdoms came under siege by the Celanor Empire, being absorbed into the empire by the 900’s CE. It would remain a part of this empire until the 1300’s, when radical Lucerists organized and fought against the Celanorans, gaining control of the area, forming the Holy Lucerist Kingdom of Cescolia. A fully unified country, Cescolia saw its first major conflict in the form of the Cescoli-Lapinumbian War, lasting from 1498 to 1510, when Lapinumbia successfully gained territory from Cescolia.
The 1600’s come around, and Tavari settlers and missionaries arrive in what was then the less-populated southeastern portion of the country. As these settlers encroached upon Cescolian land, and threatened the Lucerist faith that many Cescolians believed (many saw Akronism as moon worship, in direct violation of everything Cescolian Lucerism stood for), tensions reached a breaking point in the 18th century. During this century, several outbreaks of violence and a major war (The First Tavari-Cescolian War from 1738 to 1742) between the Tavari and the Cescolians took place sporadically.
As Metradan grew in influence and wealth, Cescolia scrambled to compete, as the nation had been landlocked by Metradan at the conclusion of the First Tavari-Cescolian War. In an effort to regain lost territory, Cescolia invaded Metradan, sparking the Second Tavari-Cescolian War, from 1822 to 1827. The war ended with Cescolia retaking a portion of coastline south of the Artesia Peninsula, reopening the country to the larger world. With a coastline, the Cescolian Golden Age began, boosting its trade and wealth at a rapid pace. By this time, the Holy Lucerist Kingdom of Cescolia slowly lost its grip on the populous as information began to flow more freely through trade, and in 1865 the Cescolian Revolutionary War took place, resulting in the Kingdom’s collapse. In its place, the Republic of Cescolia formed.
With the turn of the century came the Great War that brought the world into war, and Cescolia joined the Pacific Coalition. Such a decision positioned Cescolia as a major front against Tretrid, a member of the Imperial Powers. The northeastern portion of the country was host to some of the most bloody battles of the war, with much of the land now being home to the densest cluster of Great War Memorials found anywhere else in the world. At the conclusion of the War in 1917, Cescolia was in a state of utter ruin, having experienced some of the most destructive and deadly conflicts the war had seen. Because of this, it took out loans from the United Confederation of Concordian States in an effort to stave off economic turmoil. However, with the advent of the Age of Calamities, the loans were unable to recover much economically and the nation fell into sever famine and depression through to the late 1930’s. Such events sparked the Second Cescolian Revolution, wherein the nation was reformed into a Martovist Communist nation in 1943.
The nation remained communist until in 1985 when the nation experienced a bloodless coup d’etat, returning to a parliamentary republic, of which it has remained such to the present day. Cescolia as of 2022 intends to join the League of Novaris.
