Historical Summary: The Great Matriarchy of Nuesperanza traces its roots back to the 300s when the Impelanzan Empire arrived on the shores of central Arcturia. The Impelanzans established four settlements, Consolacion, Nueva Esperanza (now Ciudad Vieja), Castillo, and Cordova to serve as trade outposts. The colony grew and in 353 it had established new settlements namely Ganua, Merinova, and Dos Sillas. It became a farming colony, cotton and coffee were sowed and reaped across the lands. In colonists began calling the land Nuesperanza, a play on the words nueva which means new and esperanza which means hope. When the Impelanzan Empire collapsed in 412, Nuesperanza became independent. It became a mostly agricultural nation, focusing on improving farming techniques and fishery. It would remain so until the 1300s. Traders from Asendavia landed on the shores of Consolacion in 1321. Trade between the two sparked a flow of information leading to the mass improvement of the nation’s infrastructure. In 1394, Governor Carlo Dela Cena, wanted to expand more inland, a notion unpopular to most residents. He led expeditionary forces north and discovered that settlements have been established in the area. These settlements were established by Asendavian missionaries in cooperation with local tribes. Despite knowing this, Dela Cena’s ambition and lust for glory led him to plot a plan to take over the settlements. In 1396, after two years of thorough reconnaissance, Dela Cena and 5,000 men invaded the southern part of the colony. After the slaughter of Asendavian forces in Menskav, the Asendavians filed a peace treaty in November 1396. A straight line was drawn to divide Iphelklori and Nuesperanza from each other.
