FPS, would it be reasonable to assume that some foreign intelligence agencies (as in Dann’s last post) know of Pentastar, even if nobody knows what he’s up to?
— End quote
I’d assume the majority of intelligence agencies who practice counter-intelligence of any type would know of Pentastar. But since (excepting a select few) they don’t know what they look like, where he is, what he’s doing, when hes doing it, and what his motivations are…
It’s like the US and Osama Bin Laden. We know who he is. To a point, we even know what hes trying to do and why hes trying to do it. But we don’t know any specifics…at all.
I’m going to make my Lofturiorn affected by this disease, as who knows when I’ll get a chance like this, though it will go for long periods before showing symptoms while still being communicable. I’ll have it affect the southern part of my nation. It will travel quite slow, due to the small nomadic communities of my people.
With a pandemic such as this, many nations would be working on identifying the virus, and developing either an effective antiviral agent or vaccine. In RL, you’d have teams of scientists all over the world with the necessary blood samples, and usually pooling information. Could we try the same thing here? It normally takes months, if not longer or even at all, to find something effective against a viral agent.
Would one or more of the affected nations mind sending Kangarawa some infected blood? (We haven’t turned vampirish yet, but just in case make sure you carry lots of garlic…)
We’ll make sure to lift flight restictions for any deliveries.
IRL, you’d also have one anti-viral which is used until a vaccine can be developed. Dannistaan has one and as the communique says we will make it available if requested for trials.
Lofturior, don’t change the disease’s characteristics. Some of us (I know I definitely have) already RPed the spread of the virus not being as bad because people are sick by the time it’s infectious - which is something typical of any kind of flu, incidentally.
Dovakhan as well, it’s much too early to have already developed a vaccine ready for animal testing.
We can also send blood to Kangawara. RP of it coming right up.
In my next post, FPS will be proposing a medical conference in the Unimatrix so that the leading researchers from our respective nations can work together towards a cure. It’ll still take time, but hopefully…
On a sidenote, I’d like to state a couple of things. First off, this is Loop’s virus. As such, though he doesn’t get to RP its damages (like any cruise missile or character), he does get to RP what damage is done to it (again, like any character or weapon). He has stated that the virus shouldn’t be cured until six months ICly have passed. Yet, I’m seeing people talking about it being cured in the next week ICly. Now, don’t get me wrong, as this wasn’t stated before, no one is at fault.
However, I am stating this now: The virus is not cured until Loop says it is cured. Its his virus. Hes said six months, and as such…it doesn’t get cured for six months. I just want that clear.
Secondly, I’d like to note that there have been a number of concerns voiced over those nations who are RPing their populations as unafected. At this point, I’m going to take no official view on this as RP Admin. As a person, let me say, however, that not being affected by the virus, but still RPing in relation to it…sorta destroys half the good RP in such a thread.
Er…actually, I should specify, concerns were voiced to me over those nations who can’t be affected, not those nations who won’t be affected for awhile, or won’t be at all.
EDIT: As a sidenote, I’d like to note that I did not mean to sound annoyed or angry in my last post. I’m not, at all. Rarely do I take up such emotions in relation to RP. At the time, I was fighting with my parents, and simultaneously realizing I’m not at all ready for my US AP History exam tommorow. Which just might have poored over into what I wrote. So…yeah. My apologies if I gave anyone the wrong idea.
On treatment, The Disease can be Treated and slowed, but it will pick back up again soon thereafter The best bet to save folks is to keep their lungs fluid free and keep them cold,
also the Unimartix is now the orbital facility formerly Adama station, so it would be a perfect place for the study site, The Cylons have at their disposal a good Med bay which they use to study fleshthings (Lucifer is obsessed with keeping the Wachovian people alive, for some reason I forgot)

Virus is currently at large in Kirkenes and under control elsewhere. No new infections have been reported outside the Greater Kirkenes Area since 20 Jan.
*indicates all infections were detected and quarantined at immigration checkpoint
^ all infections in Clayquot were patients transferred to Kelssekian Science Centre for Human and Animal Health.
