Operation Wishing Well: Back From Relaxation

The goose sordidly sighs as he roosts in his office perch. On the table infront of him lies copious amounts of molecules, notebooks, law drafts, and a damp little hat that has been passed down from generations of Overseeing Officers to Overseeing Officers. And now, unbidden as it is, he wears it now. Or, more accurately - stares at it forlorn. It’s been a few days since he’s been appointed, and so far he hasn’t managed to really get much done considering other duties that call to him. All he’s mostly done is just mundane bureaucracy - roll call of the soldiers, forming new divisions, etc. The goose could really use a break.

Then his phone, usually quite silent and unfortunately never active, rings. With a speed known only to those constantly thieving bells, he wraps the device in his wings, taps the green call button, and holds it up frantically - any excuse to escape from his tasks a welcome one.

“Hi,” says a voice. For some reason, an overpowering image of a cat saluting takes firm hold in the goose’s mind, before bounding away. But even with the distraction, he knows who it is - the Delegate.

“Hi,” the animal says back. “What’s up?”

The Delegate takes little time to answer. “The North Pacific wants our help with exploring a new wellspring they found. What do you think?” The goose considers the matter for a moment, and then checks his calendar wherein he has all of his planned military operations written down. At the second it’s very devoid of Army missions, which he supposes is a marked shame for the EPSA since most other militaries are mired in military conflicts everyday. Might as well take the mission - best they’re going to get for now, even if it wasn’t in his plans for the Army to be a survey corps.

“Sounds good. We can do it.” The Delegate immediately replies “Great, go when you’re ready.” and then clicks out without much in the ways of goodbye, but not before the overwhelming image of a saluting cat comes to his mind again. The goose puts the phone down on the table and then ruminates on who he can bring for an exploration and some relaxation…
