Pacifivision 2009

East Pacific Broadcasting Union
Rilannon, Christie Island

«It is my pleasure to announce ‘V46 - The NOW Network’ as the host of the Pacifivision Song Contest for 2009. The festivities will be held at the St. Kazimir Dome in Eldura, Vekaiyu.

I will now take a moment to remind participants and the public of the format for this contest:

  1. The various member networks of the East Pacific Broadcasting Union will gather in Eldura to showcase their national talent with a chosen song.

  2. Telephone voters in each of the member networks will call in their vote for their favorite song performed by one of the other delegations.

  3. The points awarded to each delegation will be awarded based on the popularity of the song in each member network. The most popular song in any country will get a number of points equal to the number of participant networks. The least popular song in that network will get one point.

  4. The delegation with the most points will win the Pacifivision Song Contest and their sponsoring member network will be the host for the next contest.

OoC: For now, the participants will be arriving in Eldura and getting acquainted with the host city and the other participants. As the host, V46 can decide (OoCly & ICly) when songs should be due for the contest and when each member network should post its voting results. For your information, I was thinking of using a Borda Count voting system somewhat like the real Eurovision where, instead of just voting for their favorite, “audiences” rank the contestants.

As for the song, it’s obviously more creative if you change the lyrics to a real song or just write lyrics to a song that doesn’t exist, but I think it would be fine just to post a video of a real (Eurovision?) song with a different title or something. I would suggest either translating a real song into your country’s language or posting a real song that fits your country (i.e. a Hungarian song for Lazlowia). Again, though, it’s not a big deal. The RP is probably the more fun part of it, anyway.
