[PASSED] Repeal: “Commend August”

Security Council Resolution #228 “Commend August” shall be struck out and rendered null and void.

The Security Council,

Recalling the passage of Commend August in 2017, which sought to commend the nation for their accomplishments in region-building as the former Supreme Allied Commander of the Augustin Alliance,

Acknowledging the unique nature of the Augustin Alliance as an institution and August’s role in its development, but finding a litany of flaws with the resolution itself, as well as believing August’s successes to have concern cast upon them in recent years,

Questioning the impressive nature of August “uniting” the Augustin Alliance regions under the same banner, when they were established under their direct rule and united by a shared Founder (now Governor),

Rebuking the “Marvelling” clause, which evaluates an aspect of each region in the Augustin Alliance, though fails to justify their innate commendability,

  • Disputing the inherent commendability of a WA-exclusive population in Ridgefield without additional World Assembly development,
  • Rejecting the idea that Lands End is a commendable region solely on the basis of its corporate theme, which while well-immersed, is not functionally unique from many other systems of government throughout the world,
  • Believing Conch Kingdom, as one of the most accomplished and large-scale regions of the alliance, is not adequately represented in the targeted resolution,
  • Asserting the out-of-place nature of Narnia’s mention, as the region did not take off compared to its other counterparts, making its attention in this resolution a noted weak link,
  • Finding that the “strong interregional communication within member regions of the former alliance” are not elaborated upon whatsoever, let alone to a commendable extent,

Concerned that the resolution claims August aided other regional founders in the development of their communities, but does not elaborate on how this was done or provide examples of any specific regions,

Recognizing the historical relevance of the Joint Task Force, though noting that the Augustin Alliance has embraced neutrality and abstinence from inter-regional warfare in recent years, negating the relevance of this clause, and furthermore asserting that the lack of detail throughout is concerning, such with the unelaborated crediting of “defense and liberation of multiple regions”,

Disappointed that August has since abandoned the Augustin Alliance without good reason, leaving the various constituent regions to secure themselves through means outside of the protection of their founder nations,

Noting that August’s abandonment of the Alliance caused it to go through one of its greatest historical challenges, during which its current figures rose to the occasion by,

  • Reducing and eliminating its technological dependency on August,
  • Flawlessly executing numerous Frontier-Governorship transitions to ensure the long-term stability of the regions under the new Allied Commander, Emiline,
  • Retaining and eventually growing a foreign affairs presence in spite of the disappearance of their Founder and primary figure,

Clarifying that a nation’s withdrawal from active affairs post-commendation does not undo their accomplishments, but asserting that August’s affirmative conduct in recent years has unraveled the basis of their commendation,

Therefore concluding with the mindset that August’s reckless treatment of the Augustin Alliance those recent years has devalued their legacy, leading to a version of the Augustin Alliance that exists in spite of them, rather than because of them,

Hereby repeals “Commend August”.
