[PASSED] Repeal: “Proper Hygiene For Medical Instruments”

General Assembly Resolution #492 “Proper Hygiene For Medical Instruments” (Category: Health; Area of Effect: Healthcare) shall be struck out and rendered null and void.

The General Assembly,

Recognizing the importance of proper medical care and disease prevention considerations as a vital factor in the health of member states’ citizens,

However, worried that excessive and flawed international legislation on this topic will only serve to burden member states, preventing them from providing their residents with effective healthcare,

Dismayed at the fact that GA#492 assigns the duty of micromanaging standards of susceptible medical instruments (SMIs) to the Epidemic and Pandemic Alert and Response Center (EPARC), a clear overextension of the committee which was established by GA#53 for the purpose of establishing international protocol for responding to epidemics,

Concerned that making EPARC maintain standards for the handling of all different kinds of medical instruments found across all WA member nations poses an unnecessary and potentially overwhelming workload for the committee, preventing it from effectively focusing on the primary purpose it was established for,

Therefore, arguing that conventions on the handling of medical instruments would be better left to member nations to decide based on their own specifications, models and use cases,

Decidedly Repeals “Proper Hygiene For Medical Instruments”.
