General Assembly Resolution #88 “WA Numeration and Units Act” (Category: Education and Creativity; Area of Effect: Cultural Heritage) shall be struck out and rendered null and void.
The World Assembly,
Believing that it would mayhaps be best for the health of this august body if resolutions marked within its annals actually did something,
Gazing upon the existence of GAR#88 “WA Numeration And Units Act”, which ostensibly seeks to standardize units of measurement (yet does no such thing),
Stunned at GAR#88’s utter failure to meaningfully standardize anything, as
-
GAR#88 does not require member states to actually use the IMI Units that it creates internally,
-
It does not require member states to do so in communications between themselves, and
-
It does not even require WA agencies to use the IMI Units in their reports,
Supposing that if the WA is to have standardized units then they should be used by the WA and if the WA is not to use standardized units a resolution creating standardized units is completely pointless,
Unamused by the farce of clause 5, which requires the creation of aforementioned IMI units in such a manner that they are “effective, neutral, and mathematically intuitive”, something which is impossible considering the amount of diversity regarding mathematical systems and how they are conveyed,
Confused as to why GAR#88 undermines its own theme of national sovereignty with clause 7, where it makes the IMI an unelected arbiter of solving any disputes in regards to standards which require the creation or or revision of said standards, and interacts with the rest of the resolution to prevent the WA from legislating on broad swathes of this topic in the future,
Hereby repeals General Assembly Resolution #88, “WA Numeration And Units Act”.
