Picking up where they left off

A lone private ship sat several miles off the chain of islands in the East Keigan Sea, the very same islands that were invaded by Rhodesia in their so called “Operation Buffer.” The oil vessel, or at least the appearence it gave was giving out a false signal that they were halted for engine repairs.

That couldn’t have been any further than the truth. The ship was owned by a shell company Wey-Yu Industries uses to transport the more “questionable” items across the globe. Such items ranged from antiques, items of historical significance, and even weapons. The entire tanks used to transport oil were cleaned out and connected, serving as a huge cargo hull. Inside the ship were a sizable compliment of mercenaries hired to protect the ship and it’s soon to be loaded cargo. The mercenaries belonged to the “Halbech Security Services” company, another front used by Wey-Yu. No one working on the ship knew that they were working for Wey-Yu Industries, only that they were “paying” for their services. Only one man knew what was really going on, Becker.

Becker stood at the top deck of the cargo hull, overseeing the mercenaries preparing their equipment, a vast assortment of weaponry were used, ranging from the Ak-47 to M16s, and even old world battle rifles like the FN FAL and H&K 91. Most of them were gonna be sent to scour the islands for the crates via helicopter. On the deck sat four helipads, 3 of the pads had a Mil-8 helicopter prepping the engines. The fourth pad had a Mi-24 Hind gunship helicopter loaded and ready to provide backup should any trouble show up.

Becker took his gaze from the mercs and focused it on his PDA, showing the latest intel the company could provide. Too bad that it and Rhodesia parted on bad terms and now they had to search every occupied island for the crates. According to his PDA, the crates were loaded with stolen gold, or most of it since Wey-Yu industries decided to take a chip out of it. Becker put the PDA away and went up to the deck to monitor the helicopters as Mercs were to pile in. The engines were whining loudly and the props were spinning. He spoke to the captain of the ship and the Merc commander.

“Becker! How you doing?” said the commander. He was in surplus military apparel, he wore no body armor like the rest of his men, seeing it was in hot sweaty temperatures that he and his men were to wade through. He wore a simple OD green boonie hat. He had an old FN FAL painted in “Rhodie baby poop camo.” An old pain scheme used by the Rhodesians back when they serviced the FN FAL as their standard service rifle before switching to the 5.56 caliber M4s, then to the 6.5 Grendels.

“Just fine, how many men you have and how many trips?” replied the Corsair leader, Becker. He stood there decked in Tiger striped camo clothes, with FDE colored body armor and wore a Red beret. He wore his signature non-shine aviators, even though it was in the middle of the night. At his side hung from a two point sling was his personal H&K 417, a 7.62x51mm battle rifle capable of putting down some serious hurt on any walking sentient being on the face of the Urth. Undermounted was a 40mm grenade launcher for taking out those pesky targets hiding behind walls or obstacles.

“We got about 500 men going on the islands, we are taking about 25 to 30 per island. This is gonna take a while.” said the commander.

“Good, inform me when your men find the target,” said the beret wearing man as he turned away and walked to the bridge of the ship.

The helicopters begun to take off with the mercenaries on them, they were gonna load and unload, taking round trips to each and every island to scout them. The Hind sat on the helipad, it’s engines off but the weaponry running and the pilots ready for the call.
