“If you can prove that thing functions Axdel will be happy to fund its operation in the excavation of the canal” Leon replied, straightening his tie. “If you do have logistics problems we can also assist there as well.”
“To answer your question, ma’am, I can almost guarantee that my president will agree to use his own budget for the transportation, assuming the monetary divisions are still in place. As for the operation of the machine, there are bound to be problems, as projects like these typically have, and we as a nation would be happy to accept any and all logistical aid available. In fact, as soon as we wrap this up, I think I can get the thing finished and shipped over pretty quick. Maybe in a few days. And, of course, thank you for your input. To be frank, sometimes I wish I had grown up to be a diplomat or politician, rather than a pilot.”
Beartrot actually considered what he just said. He could probably still make that happen with some pleading to his superiors.
In his back pocket, Valinov’s phone buzzed. “I do apologize, would you excuse me for a moment?” He turned and walked a small distance away, had a short, quiet exchange, then returned and addressed Frost.
“I’m afraid that we are no longer able to commit the naval resources I mentioned previously to stopping the pirate threat. Should you need military assistance on land, we are able to provide that.”
“Most unfortunate Valinov, your ground forces will be needed. Beartrot, if you could organise the transportation of your colossal machine to Fort Yakes, under your protection.” Nick then turned to Caroline, who’d been quiet for a while. “Caroline my dear, please can you get the negotiations organised as soon as possible. In order for this to work peacefully we must seek this as our first task. Otherwise I will devise a military plan to clear the field at maximum efficiency. I encourage everyone to rally their military at the nearest port to Project Longstorm. No matter if the negotiations work or fail, we need ground forces in there for manpower and clearance. I will open all Staynish naval port facilities, half of which have never been used and are in fine condition. The best bet is Fort Yakes, Redrugus or Fort Staynes. The Staynish military will be docked in Redrugus. If the negotiations work, I would hope everybody chips in a little to build up the education, agricultural and hospital systems in the future territory to help the natives through these hard times.”
Nick paused. “If anybody has any questions or anything to say, now would be the best time. Thank you.” Nick drank some more water to clear his ever increasing croaky throat.
Caroline sat back at the table. “My president will take up the responsibility in negotiations.” She said.
“Tivot would like to send an official to join your President. Is that alright?”
“Of course.”
“In that case, a Mr. Rorik Kolovich will join Mrs. Poole to assist in peace talks.”
“Sounds good, I’ll leave for home immediately and we’ll go directly to their heaquarters. Is there anything else, Mister Frost?”
“Thank you Caroline. Assemble a suitable group for that and contact me when you are ready. Hopefully, you and your group can get in the field by the 30th. As I do not have anyone of your signatures yet, please sign here confirm that you’re definitely involved, and tick which forms you’re available for. Fredrik calmly walked towards the form and signed it, while Cassius behind him left the room. While exiting the room Cassius could only wonder how much time would it take for the campaign to start. He firmly believed that diplomatic talks with the pirates were doomed to fail. “Hopefully the negotatiors get back with their lives” he thought as he closed the door behind him.

On the authorization of Nimona Poole.
“I say we get this show on the road,” Beartrot pronounced, now standing, again. “I mean, we have just about everybody who’s a part of this ready to go, and I still need time to get that machine set up and loaded over there, which, mind you, is just about on the opposite end of the Urth from the USM.” Beartrot looked around, and sat, stuffing some papers in his bag to get ready to leave; he had a lot of paperwork to fill out in the very near future.
“I’ll be headed back to Aura now. Best of luck to you all.”
With a respectful but curt nod to Dean, Valinov addressed the Mexregionan. “Before you depart, Beartrot, what security measures will be taken to protect the machine? It would be just like the Fire Pact to have one of their associates sabotage its transportation.”
Looking rather content, Frost spoke.
“Staynes will travel back to Mexregiona and assist in the transportation. I will send my Western Fleet. You’ll have a Kuznetsov-class aircraft carrier, 8 destroyers and a couple dozen frigates as well as a nuclear submarine. I think that should be enough. It’ll certainly deter the FP. When we are by Staynish Horales, the Northern Fleet will be ready and waiting in nearby waters.”
