Re: Magister Unibot

It has come to my attention that Magister Unibot has made some comments in regard to Osiris that may deserve my attention as the ambassador assigned to The East Pacific. Specifically, Magister Unibot made the following claims:

— Begin quote from ____

But those examples are mostly just examples of regions that were utterly intolerant to defenders - in Osiris, defenders were removed on a sheer whim (and compared to The Empire) and Gatesville-TNI even forced the capitalizing Osiran state to declare its defender members as subversives (no matter how much they had contributed to trying to liberate Osiris).

— End quote

While it is true that the initial statement made by The Brotherhood of Malice – a statement that was not made on behalf of the Osiris Fraternal Order – upon the establishment of the OFO was not exactly friendly to defenders, it is absolutely not true that defenders, in general, were removed from Osiris. A very small number of defenders were removed from Osiris for active insurrection, but other defenders were welcomed into our community. These include your very own Prussia, who served in our first Cabinet; Cameron Romefeller, UDL Chief of Foreign Affairs, who was involved in our RP and even ran in our first Pharaoh election; and Hobbes, who is a citizen of the OFO and, I believe, has been treated in a friendly way whenever he has been present in our IRC channel. Actually, the OFO softened the initial rhetoric of The Brotherhood of Malice partially in response to concerns that Hobbes raised, concerns to which we listened.

In fact, Magister Unibot’s own designation of persona non grata that was established by the Kemetic Republic of Osiris and continued under the Detective Figs administration following dissolution of the KRO was lifted by the OFO.

The claim that Gatesville-TNI forced “the capitalizing Osiran state” (whatever that means) “to declare its defender members as subversives” is completely false and not even loosely based in reality. At no point during or following the July 2013 war were defender citizens declared subversives, language used only much later in the aforementioned statement by The Brotherhood of Malice upon establishment of the OFO. The agreement the KRO made to end the July 2013 war contained very specific conditions, none of which involved declaring any citizens subversives. The agreement did include severance of relations with the UDL and the FRA, but the KRO subsequently threw out the agreement and reinstated relations with the UDL. A similar offer to reinstate relations with the FRA was extended by the KRO but was declined by Archchancellor Karputsk.

The Osiris Fraternal Order has no comment on the Defender Act itself, as military alignment is the sovereign decision of the Confederated East Pacific, and we wish our friends in The East Pacific well in whatever path they choose. We look forward to continued positive relations between our regions, regardless of alignment. Thank you for the opportunity to set the record straight, and I trust now that Magister Unibot’s memory has been refreshed he will refrain from recounting such poor recollections of events in the future.

Ambassador Cormac,

I welcome your clarifications on this matter, as different perspectives often offer together a more clear and complete vision on past circumstances. This also offers the opportunity to all interested parties of achieving a more nuanced understanding, which is always a good thing.

Secondly I would like to state that opinions of individual Magisters, offered in the course of Legislative debate, are not representative for The East Pacific as a whole or it’s government. On behalf of The East Pacific I thank Osiris for it’s understanding and respect for the sovereign choices made by The East Pacific in the Defender Act and The East Pacific certainly wishes to maintain the good relations between our two regions as well.

Bachtendekuppen,
Delegate of the Sovereign East Pacific

Thank you, Delegate Bachtendekuppen. I would also like to clarify that we did not view Magister Unibot’s comments as representative of or in any way reflecting upon the Confederated East Pacific. We chose to respond only for the purpose of clarification.

Gov, Babs and Uni: This is the Osiran Embassy, not the “http://theeastpacific.com/forum/3527/” forum. You are entitled to your opinions and can discuss them at length, but not in a thread devoted to productive dialogue between two regions. Corm, I apologize for not stopping the clutter sooner.
