[RESOLUTION] Magisterium Internship Program

SECTION I: CITATION

1.1. This resolution shall be referred to as the Magisterium Internship Program (2025).

SECTION II: DEFINITIONS

2.1. An intern shall be defined as a natural person above the age of criminal responsibility in their nation of residence.

SECTION III: FINDINGS

3.1. There are several factors that may require an internship to seek entry into the workforce, including economic necessity; lack of access to education or skill development opportunities; as well as cultural and traditional norms.

3.2. Early participation within a workforce allows an intern to develop critical skills that will allow them to succeed in future enterprises, including gaining the necessary experience required for entry level jobs.

3.3. Manufacturing industries require higher levels of unskilled labour in order to keep up with demand from drop shipping websites and high-volume low-cost eCommerce platforms.

3.4. Early participation within a workforce allows an intern to earn additional money to support their families, or in the case of orphaned or abandoned interns, to support themselves.

3.5. Because interns don’t have the same financial burdens as a regular employee, they can be paid less, making them more likely to be hired by an organisation that is seeking to provide the best possible value to its shareholders.

SECTION IV: RESOLUTIONS

4.1. The Magisterium hereby passes this resolution, committing itself to creating an internship program (The Magisterium Internship Program).

4.2. The Magisterium Internship Program will be dedicated to training interns in the manufacturing industry.

…4.2.1. The specific items that will be manufactured will be determined by the Provost, according to the needs of the Magisterium and The East Pacific as a whole.

4.3. As the Magisterium is providing a valuable training opportunity that far exceeds the value of an intern, the Magisterium will pay interns admitted under this program a living wage of two cents per hour, which may be augmented by the host employer at the sole discretion of the host employer.

4.4. Wanting to share this gift with all nations and peoples, the Magisterium commits to purchasing interns who are considered “undesirables” within their nation of residence. The purchase of an intern shall place them under a mandatory ten year contract, which can be terminated early solely at the discretion of the Magisterium.

…4.4.1. The Magisterium recommends that purchased interns shall be allowed to reside in a communal area within their place of employment. Purchased interns shall be responsible for finding their own food, water, and entertainment.

4.5. Knowing that an intern is paid a sufficient wage to live, the Magisterium resolves to block any legislation that will allow an intern to access any welfare benefits.

4.6. Finally, knowing that an employer will naturally take the utmost care of an intern’s health and safety, the Magisterium resolves to block any legislation that will allow health and safety regulators to interfere on matters related to interns, especially if such interference will negatively impact on the employer’s productivity.

As this is clearly an uncontroversial topic that can only foster good will towards The East Pacific and private enterprise within the resident Nations, I feel confident that no discussion on this matter is required, and immediately motion this to a vote.

Seconded with the most enthusiasm I have ever mustered in the history of my Magisterial career!!!
