Seikanese Bliss

DISCLAIMER: Seikanese Bliss is my first ever RP! It will recall the events of the Shimanese royal family from Hikari’s engagement in 2023 up until the present day. Count this as a sort of prologue to the storyline I’ll be doing from March 2025 xx

30 June 2023
Imperial Palace of Seikan, Shimajiro

On a warm, sunny Shimanese day, Princess Natsumi looked on from beyond the large window in the ballroom of the palace eagerly anticipating the arrival of her son, the crown prince Hikari. Natsumi always enjoyed seeing her children, but this time was especially precious to her. With her daughter Asuka away pursuing her musical talents on the island of Nishinoji, Hikari was simply returning from a 2-month romantic rendezvous in Aozora. Natsumi wasn’t only excited because her son was returning home after such a long time, but also because she hoped he came bearing good news; that of his engagement to the singer, Sumire Moriyama. Deep in her though, she saw a royal motorcade arriving through the gates of the imperial palace. She leapt in excitement, watching the stream of cars come to a stop, and her son stepping out, with a gleeming smile on his face that seemed even brighter than the day itself. Natsumi was about to explode with excitement. She eagerly awaited in the ballroom, not even willing to take a seat. She composed herself, rung a bell, and the door opened.

Hikari sheepishly poked his head around the large door into the ballroom, gazing upon his mother. A smile manifested on his face. “Hello, mama!” he gleemed.

Natsumi jumped up and down, her smile growing larger, running toward her son and embracing him so softly yet so tightly. “Hello, my son” she exclaimed with excitement, “How are you? How did it go? Is Aozora still as beautiful as ever?”

Hikari chuckled, blushing a little as he recalled his vacation in Aozora in his mind, “Yes, especially at this time of year. I’m so grateful you allowed me and Sumi to spend as much time as we wanted there this year. I hope you didn’t miss me too much.”

Natsumi smiled. “Well, only a little bit too much, but that’s because your father’s too busy in Tatsumiyama and you know what your sister’s like with her piano.”

Hikari and Natsumi shared a moment of laughter. “I miss Asuka,” Hikari said, “I hope she doesn’t tire herself out, same with papa.”

“Oh no, they’re loving it. And me. I’m enjoying having this great big palace all to myself. Anything beats the roughness I grew up with” Natsumi chuckled to herself.

Hikari couldn’t do anything but smile at his mother. He was so incredibly proud of her, considering all that she’d been through.

Natsumi took a sip of tea, that had been prepared hot and fresh for her about 15 minutes prior. She gazed up at her son. “So… tell me…” she smirked… “How did it go?? What did she say??”

Hikari smiled, his face growing red. “She…”

Natsumi leaned forward in excitement, gleeming with anticipation.

“…she said yes!”

Natsumi cried out with happiness, putting her tea back down and once again embracing the Crown Prince. “Hikari!!! That’s incredible!! We have to tell everyone else, oh your father and your sister would love this, and your aunt. We need to get them all back here right now!!” Natsumi jumped up and down in excitement.

Hikari blushed more, smiling at his mother “Thanks, mama. Sumi will probably be here tonight. We can recall the entire holiday over dinner.”

Natsumi nodded in agreement. This was great news, and exactly the kind of great news Shimajiro needed right now. “We’ll send out a press release tomorrow. Oh Hikari, I’m so proud of you!!” Natsumi exclaimed.

Hikari once again smiled and sighed in relief, as Natsumi ran out of the ballroom, announcing to every royal servant who stood in her way the great news: The Crown Prince was engaged, and was due to be wed.
