Historical Summary: The Proto-Serdemic people emerged alongside the Proto-Aivintian people in the BCEs, claiming a majority in the region now known as Serdemia and a minority in the region now known as Aivintis. The Serdemics shared the Lerasian religion with the Aivintians, but that was the only unifying factor. When Aivintian tribes coalesced into many petty kingdoms, the Serdemic people coalesced into two distinct ethnic groups under only two different nations - Serdemia and Novoska. In 1317, a marriage between the Serdemian Crown Prince and the Novoskan Crown Princess led to unification between the two nations. Until 1835, the now-unified Kingdom of Serdemia emerged as a regional military power and growing trading power, surpassing all the Aivintian kingdoms save for Maven. In 1835, however, growing nationalism had led to fractures in the Serdemic state, and growing liberalism had led to calls for democracy. The state had yet to industrialize alongside the rest of the world, and their economy was suffering. The government allowed outdated religious beliefs to fuel their decisions. Protests had begun, and prominent members of society had begun calling for revolution. In late 1835, the aging King passed away, and the new King dissolved the government and drafted the first Constitution of Serdemia. Since then, industrialization and urbanization has been rapid, and the nation has grown once again into a formidable power. However, in 2014, the region of Alexandrograd, notable for the lavish expenses of King Alexander in the 18th century, has been claimed by the Federal Kritarchy of Aivintis due to its Aivintian majority, which the Aivintians postulate is being oppressed by the Serdemic minority empowered by the Republic, and the era of relative prosperity seems to be cracking.
OOC Plans for Serdemia: Above all, the main plans for Serdemia are to develop a cool Slavic culture and to create a nation whose history is heavily mixed with that of Aivintis. RP wise, it is likely that I do RPs based on the point of conflict that is Alexandrograd which is totally not inspired by Kosovo what do you mean. For example, the government might try conferences with Aivintis, it might bring up the issue in the IF, or it might have its military prepared for if war breaks out (it won’t tho, since tension is more fun than battle). I’ve been playing with the idea that Serdemia develops a nuclear program to protect themselves from the much more militarized Aivintians. When Aivintis becomes a Republic, I’m thinking it’s possible that the nations cooperate a lot together. Apart from that, it could be cool to have a Histories thread for Serdemia alongside one for Aivintis. Some of the posts may even be connected. Apart from real RPs, there is the possibility of news posts, which may even replace some ideas like the nuclear program RP - a Serdemic news article on nuclear weapons could be more interesting. FA of course will be open. And then finally I of course will be working on TEPWiki. Now I can’t promise all this activity all the time, but I will definitely try to raise my activity at least for a little while and I think Serdemia can help with that.
