THE IMPERIAL CHANCELLOR, Mrs. Sayuri Fujimura, today announced that her government has signed a “groundbreaking” new deal with the Limboese Republic and other nations to confirm Shimajiro’s entry into the Convention of Island Nations.

Speaking at noon today, the Imperial Chancellor announced that her government had signed and ratified all chapters of the convention’s charter and the vote to confirm Shimajiro’s entry had passed through the House of Representatives and House of Magnates this week. Today, the bill was given royal assent by the Emperor.

Shimajiro is due to become an official member of the CIN in 2 weeks, on 1 September 2025. Speaking today, Chancellor Fujimura said the move “opened new pathways, diplomatic opportunities, and allowed for greater cooperation with our fellow island nations not only as our neighbours, but as our close friends and allies from across the globe.” It comes after the Limboese president, Mrs. Hellen Portman, attended a state visit with the Chancellor and Emperor Daishin in Seikan in July, with matters attending to what is believed to be an official invitation into the CIN.

Chancellor Fujimura had this to say:

“We are increasingly and incredibly excited to get the ball rolling on this new chapter in Shimanese diplomatic history. Last month, I met with the President of the Limboese Republic, Mrs. Hellen Portman, where we discussed a great matter of things, but the primary subject was Shimanese involvement in the Convention of Island Nations, with which I was especially enthusiastic to indulge in. This was all followed by a grand state dinner with the Emperor.

I would like to personally thank the President of Limbo for her time and attentiveness. This is a great opportunity to bring all of our nations together, in a world where island nations such as ours are otherwise left out of the fray in many respects. We hope that this convention gives all of our beautiful countries a stronger voice on the world stage.”
