Shiro Academy

Nee’la seemed to ignore the question as she looked up and down at Sah’mahn’th with concern. Sah’mahn’th was grasping the cup so tightly that cracks were starting to form on it’s surface.
“Sah’mahn’th…” Nee’la began. The cup suddenly flew at full at her. Only her feline DNA enhanced reactions made the difference between the cup impacting her face or the wall.

“SAH’MAHN’TH IS DEAD! MY NAME IS SASHENKA!” Sah’mahn’th screeched, “YOU DANNISTRIANS ARE ALL THE SAME! YOU USE A PRETEXT OF HELPING OTHERS TO HIDE SECRETS! ALL OF YOU JUST WANT TO EXPLOIT EVERYONE ELSE!”

Tears started streaming down her face as she stared accusingly at Nee’la, who had now taken a defensive stance.
“Sah’mahn’th…” she tried to speak calmly.
“SAH’MAHN’TH IS DEAD! DON’T…CALL…ME…THAT!” without warning, a plate flew from the breakfast bar towards Nee’la, who dodged it by diving behind one of the sofas. Without a hint of fear in her voice, she stood back up and continued…
“Sah…Sashenka…Who ever you are. Please understand this. I don’t know what has happened to you, or who caused it. But know this, we are still here to help you. We are you’re friends and I can assure you we have nothing to do with what happened to you.”
“LAIR!” Sah’mahn’th roared, “Why is it then your bosses used us?! Just because some of us had talents they wanted!! TELL ME!! WHY?!”
“I honestly don’t know what you are referring to,” Nee’la said, silently signalling to the other students to leave the commons in case the situation escalated. Her voice still retained a calm tone, but with more of a steely edge to it, “But trust me. I’ll do what I can to help. You just need to say what the problem is. I only heard of half the story, and I don’t necessarily think it was right. But you have to explain…”
“RARAGH!!” Sah’mahn’th let off an angry scream and grabbed a fork from the bar. She then lunged at Nee’la.
“NEE’LA!” Luh’ciia appeared in the doorway of the commons. On seeing Sah’mahn’th, Luh’ciia charged at her and grabbed Sah’mahn’th’s wrist before deftly disarming her by twisting it, forcing Sah’mahn’th to the ground in one move.
"…why??"Sah’mahn’th sobbed quietly…as Luh’ciia restrained her, “…why…is…this…happening…?! why…??”

Nee’la calmly stood up and smoothed off the wrinkles on her uniform and dusted herself off before walking over.
“Thanks Luh’ciia,” she said as she walked over, “I’ll admit I wasn’t sure what how to handle her after that…help me up onto the sofa will you?”
“Sure…” Luh’ciia replied warily as she helped Nee’la stand Sah’mahn’th up and lead her to the sofa to lie down. This time Sah’mahn’th made no attempt to resist.
“Sorry about this Luh’ciia,” Nee’la answered as she grabbed a nearby telephone handset, “I’ll arrange for an ambulance to get here. You keep watch on Sah’mahn’th.”
“This the Sah’mahn’th you were telling me about?”
“She isn’t like this. Previously she would be meeker than a flower. So I don’t know what’s gotten into her…”

As Nee’la called for an ambulance, Luh’ciia became aware of the others staring at her.
“Oh hi…um…I’m guessing you guys are new?” she answered in her childlike voice, “I’m Luh’ciia. Luh’ciia Imahara-Con’tii. I’m one of Nee’la’s dorm mates…and err…I’m sorry about this…?”

Lena was greatly surprised by what had happened. “Okay, be calm girl. Be calm.” She wondered what was going to happen next and wondered if the poor girl was going to be okay.

“Is…is she going to be alright, Nee’la? If she needs first aid, I might be able to help. I’m certified in first aid.” Lena wonder if she and Nee’la might become friends.

“She’ll be fine,” Nee’la answered as she replaced the handset, “Although I don’t know what caused her psychotic episode, we’ll sort her out,”
Nee’la beckoned Luh’ciia over.
“Keep an eye on her,” she pointed at Sah’mahn’th, “I’ll be right back.”
As Nee’la went out the door, she beckoned Lena over.
“Since you say you are train in first aid, can I borrow you for a few minutes?”

Lena nodded and followed Nee’la. After she had gone out of the room, remembering to bring her stuff with her, she asked, “What can I do to help?” Lena knew a great deal about first aid and even took some classes to get certified. Being somewhat of a nature lover, despite her love for technology, she knew a lot of survival skills, too. Lena wondered what she could do to help Nee’la.

Yiisu sat and observed the entire situation, from the arrival of Sah’mahn’th, to the ensuing fight between them. What intrigued him the most, however, was the manipulation of matter to move it with ‘an unseen hand’. He had heard of some people having the ability to do such a thing, but it was really rumored only in Vekaiyu. Even then, physicists weren’t really able to explain it. One, theorist believed it was a manipulation of antimatter that allowed the movement of matter itself. But their knowledge on the subject was limited at best. Of course, he wanted to know more about it.

“I can see people get along here fairly well,” he remarked. “So how did that one person, er Sah’mahn’th, move that cup and that plate?”

Nee’la scrambled down the stairs and over to the Nurses office on the ground floor where she normally worked in the dorms. Check Lena was still behind her, she unlocked the door and grabbed one of the first aid kits and several other medical supplies. Handing a roll of bandages over to Lena, she then headed back up the stairs.
“Come on,” Nee’la beckoned Lena over, “Sah’mahn’th injured her hand during that fight. Will need your help to bandage it up.”
The two head up the stairs…[hr]“Well,” Luh’ciia turned to face Yilsu, “I’m not sure to be honest. I’ve heard of all manner of strange things happening here but I couldn’t explain them all…by the way, who are you guys? I don’t think we met…” Luh’ciia directed her question to everyone in the commons just as Nee’la and Lena appeared back from the stairs.

Lena followed close behind Nee’la. “Alright, let’s look at her hand.” She put on a pair of rubber gloves. Lena looked at it. “Hm…Well, I can’t tell if there are any fractures without an X-ray, but still, we should quickly bandaged it up fast. She’s bleeding pretty bad.” Lena took the roll of bandages and gently began to doctor Sah’mahn’th’s hand. “Let’s hope that’ll work until the ambulance arrives. I’ve done all I can for it. There maybe some fractured bones, but I couldn’t really tell. I think there were some, but I’m not 100% certain.” Lena then took a bag and carefully threw away the bloodstained gloves, making sure not to get any blood on her. “I think we should clean up this mess and we should all wash our hands thoroughly.”

Egon, who was up to now hiding behind a knocked down table, without understanding what was happening, stood up.
“I’m Egon Ivan-Igor von Richenstein, from Smigsachenweiz” he told slightly bowing.
“would you care to explain, how the hell she…And that…How is that…WHAT JUST HAPPENED” he was trying to find the right question, but that was hard, because of what just happened.

“I don’t know myself,” Luh’ciia started just as Lena and Nee’la finished off bandaging up Sah’mahn’th’s hand, “I just came in to see my room mate get attacked by this woman.”
Nee’la nodded approvingly at Lena’s work before adding, “I wish I knew myself. ‘This woman’ is a previous Shiro room mate and friend of mine. I have no idea what possessed her to fly off the handle like that. I’m not even sure how she was able to throw things around without touching them.”

Nee’la marked the bag Lena used to through away the gloves as “Biohazzard” with a marker pen on the breakfast bar, then she scrubbed her hands clean, offering a bar of soap and sanitiser spray to Lena. She then turned back to Egon.
“It’s strange, Sah’mahn’th was such a mild girl when we last saw here almost a year ago. I really do not know what got into her…”
“Urgh…” Sah’mahn’th moaned and turned to one side.
“How are you feeling now?” Nee’la knelt down beside Sah’mahn’th. Luh’ciia stood by, producing a chopping board as a makeshift shield cum bludgeon in case Sah’mahn’th tried to attack anyone.
“I…I…don’t know…I…feel like…crap…wha…what…is…going on?”
“You went nutty and started throwing plates and cups at me. Luh’ciia had to subdue you,” Nee’la explained in a fact of manner tone, “You injured your hand in the fight. Lena and I had to fix you up.”
“What…?..where…am I?..” Sah’mahn’th was confused as she tried to sit up, only to almost fall over. Lena and Nee’la grabbed her by the arms.
“Whoa whoa there! Easy Miss,” Nee’la exclaimed as she signalled to Lena to help Sah’mahn’th back down, “I don’t think you are in any state to sit up there. Just lie down until the ambulance arrives.”

Nee’la signalled to Luh’ciia to keep watch on Sah’mahn’th while she beckoned Lena over to a far corner of the room.
“I’m guessing Sah’mahn’th had some sort of psychotic break down and it seems to have developed symptoms of Dissociative Identity Disorder. Split Personality if you will. I don’t think there is much we can do for her but I’ll mention this to the paramedics when they arrive. In the mean time, keep an eye on her and I’ll go downstairs and check where that ambulance is.”

Lena thanked Luh’ciia for the soap and washed her hands thoroughly. After cleaning up, she went over to the corner and listened carefully to what Nee’la told her. “I see. I hope she’ll be alright. And don’t worry, I’ll keep an eye on her.”

As Nee’la rushed down the stairs to see where the paramedics were, Sah’mahn’th groaned and clutched her head.

“Can…can someone…tell…tell me what is going on? Where am…am I?”

Lena wondered what to do. She then whispered to Luh’ciia, “What should we tell her?”

“Yiisu Ikolostre. Physics major from Vekaiyu.”

His eyes didn’t leave the three Dannistrians as he tried to make sense of the situation. “Is she possessed?” he thought. “But the one brings up an interesting concept of dissociative personaility disorder. Clearly one of them know more than they’re letting on. The other one… not so much, but they could be hiding something. I need to find out more about this… ability, and once I do, find a way to harvest it.”

Standing from where he was, he took two steps then stopped. “Is there anything I can do to help?”

“But it doesn’t seem like this is a common occurrence for the person, unless that’s a cover. Perhaps it’s regional or, more specific, some kind of energy associated with this place? I should investigate, stat.”

Luh’ciia took off the beret she was wearing, scratched one of the cat ears on top of her head and put the beret back on.
“To be honest…I don’t know…” she whispered back to Lena, “The truth?..”

Sah’mahn’th tried to sit up but a wave of dizziness hit her and made her almost fall over, prompting Luh’ciia and Lena to grab her and set her back down on the sofa.
“Oh no you don’t!” Luh’ciia exclaimed, “You better stay there. We don’t want you hurting yourself again.”
As Sah’mahn’th laid back down on the sofa, Luh’ciia shrugged at Yilsu.
“You got into a fight and got hurt,” she said to Sah’mahn’th, “We’re getting an ambulance to help. Try not to move too much.”
“Urgh…wha…??” Sah’mahn’th mumbled. Before she could say more, Nee’la returned with a couple of paramedics.
“Here she is,” Nee’la pointed. The paramedics nodded and walked over to Sah’mahn’th to check her.

Lena watched as the paramedics went over to Sah’mahn’th. She then whispered to Nee’la, “Um…If you can could you help me find my room?”

OOC: Her room I think is right across from Nee’la’s room.

As the paramedics eased Sah’mahn’th on a stretcher and carried her down the stairs, Nee’la nodded at Lena.
“Sure. I’ll see what I can do.”
Nee’la had a quick look through Lena’s paperwork before declaring, “This way…”

Nee’la lead Lena out from the commons towards her room. Nee’la smiled when she noticed Lena’s room was right beside her’s.
“Well, looks like you are based here for the year. Right beside mine. Interesting coincidence,” she smiled, “Well, if you need anything else, just let me know.”[hr]“I hate that technician over in the Tilden Campus,” Trevor muttered as he started plugging more cables into the various panels on the wall before crawling back into the cabling duct, “Try to reenter those new IP addresses the tech gave us,” he shouted to Fred. Fred nodded and started typing on one of the terminals.

“We got it!” Fred shouted, “Well, third server at Tilden is showing standby…”
“Standby? What are the IT guys at Tilden doing?” Trevor slid out from the cabling duct and examined the readout on the terminal. Then he tried typing some commands of his own.

“Great, those idiots at IT Central rebooted the damn server cluster…shoot!” Trevor cursed as he picked up some more cables, “Looks like another phone call is in order…”

Lena smiled and thanked Nee’la. Before she left, Lena asked, “By the way, I was wondering if you would like be my art model? You see I’m taking some classes in art, and I need someone to model for me. I was wondering if you would like to?”

“As fascinating as that sounds, I’m afraid I can’t,” Nee’la replied with a smile, “If I’m not doing my own Postdoctoral research, I’m busy working at the nurses office on the ground floor, dealing with everyone’s scrapes and bruises…”

As if to accentuate the point, a passing student was heard loudly complaining at the closure of the medical office on the ground floor.
“Where is that damned nurse? Or any of the first aid staff? I cut my hand!”
“Maybe you should bandage it yourself first…?” another student asked.
“And how the hell do I do that?! I’m only a chemistry student! Not a doctor! And you telling me what to do isn’t helping you jerk…!!”

Nee’la rolled her eyes as the loudly complaining students went down the stairs.
“See what I mean?..oh…but I know someone who might be able to help…and she isn’t nervous about showing off her body if you need someone to do some nude modelling for you!” Nee’la winked at Lena, “One second, I’ll see if she is in, then I’ll go downstairs to help that cry baby…”

Nee’la sidestepped over to her own room and knocked the door a few times. There was no answer. She cleared her throat and knocked again. Nothing happened. Finally, Nee’la sighed and banged on the door with enough force to wake the whole corridor.
“…Urgh…whozat?? Whatdyawaaanntt?!” a pained voice was heard from Nee’la’s room before the door opened, revealing a bedraggled, bloodshot nekomimi face under a large bedsheet. Although at first glance, she looked like a normal human due to her ears being almost hidden under her cropped hair, the ears were definitely there. She seemed to be wearing very little under the bedsheet.
“Partying hard all night long again have we, Lieutenant Hasegawa?” Nee’la smirked.
Sha’la yawned before complaining, “Shadup…now’s not the time…my head feels like it’s been in a vice last night…”
“That’s because knowing you, you probably did put it in a vice…anyway, I got to go, say ‘Hi’ to our new neighbour and please try not to be too rude! I’ll personally see to you if you are, rank or not.”

Nee’la turned back to Lena, “That’s Lieutentant Sha’la Hasegawa-Am’ara. My long time friend and room mate…well, I say ‘friend’…she’s more of a pain. But as long as you stay on her good side you should be OK. Anyway, I’ll see you later!”

Nee’la headed off down the stairs, but no before warning Sha’la again about any problematic behaviour. Sha’la stuck her tongue out at Nee’la as she walked down the stairs, only to be met with “I know you are sticking your tongue at me, Sha’la!” Sha’la frowned. She turned to face Lena, looked up and down at her and softened her frown.
“Sooo…whoareyou? Whatdyawant?” Sha’la slurred as she wobbled back and forth from the door to Nee’la’s room.

Lena watched everything, trying to figure out what to say and do. She thanked Nee’la for her help, and then turned to Sha’la. “Hello, I’m Lena Elene from Vulshain. It’s a pleasure to meet you. Nee’la told me you might be able to help me. You see, I’m taking some art classes, and I need an art model, and I was wondering if you would model for me.” Lena smiled and waited patiently for an answer.

“Model…ling?” Sha’la slurred slightly as she wobbled, prompting her to grab the door frame. In the process of attempting to steady herself, she dropped her bedsheet, leaving little to the imagination, much to the embarrassment of several passing students, one of whom crashed into a pillar in surprise. Another female student gasped, “Have you no shame?” quietly as she walked quickly away. Sha’la blinked for a bit in confusion, finally cottoned on and shouted in rebuttal, “Ohgotohellyahprude!!” She then asked Lena to be excused before ducking back into her room. She then reemerged a couple of minutes later in a black t-shirt and white shorts.

“Ooo…my head…let me tell yah something, Miss Elene…never…NEVER!..drink 10 B-52 cocktails in one sitting…EVER!..” Sha’la said, shaking her finger in emphasis, “Makes yah feel like you’ve been attacked by an actual B-52 aircraft…urgh…so…Ah yes! Modelling…well firstly, pleased to meet you, Lena…secondly…I apologise for my condition…I do enjoy partying a bit too much…and thirdly…as honoured as I am that you would consider me a fine specimen of the half-feline peoples to base your art on…I’m afraid I must decline…aside from my…own studies…and the partying…obviously…I have several Recitation sessions on Advanced Mathematics I’m responsible for…so I may not have the time to…spare…”

Sha’la suddenly sagged her head down before struggling to lift her up again to face Lena.
“Urgh…sorry…I think I need to…throw up…”
Sha’la covered her mouth before dashing quickly inside. This was followed by several noises of retching coming from the depths of the room. Luh’ciia appeared at this point.
“Err…Sha’la? Are you OK?!” Luh’ciia exclaimed as she ran into the room. Some clattering and scraping later and Luh’ciia appeared again, made the universal “crazy” sign by circling a finger round her ear at Lena, then pointed at Sha’la inside, who was bent double over a bucket. Sha’la then managed to clamber back up towards the door.
“Oh hey tailless…you wanted something…?”
“For Pete’s sake! Stop calling me tailless! You sure you don’t want to see Nee’la or some doctor?”
“No…I really don’t want Nee’la…moaning at me for drinking again…I’ll just…sleep it off…kthanksbye…” Sha’la then slumped into her bed. Luh’ciia sighed.
“Well, I’m guessing she is out for the count,” Luh’ciia said to Lena quietly, “Say…you still looking for a model? I can help. I had to model for a few art students back home many times. You don’t even have to worry about recompensing for my time as I often model for some of the art students here anyway.”

Luh’ciia smiled, then frowned as Sha’la started moaning in her drunken slumber, “Ooohh…the B-52’s are incoming…! Incoming…!”
