Historical summary:
For most of Noraida history it remained unsettled, with the exception of the occasional fishing outposts for nekomimi fishermen on the continent of Borea, though rarely did any of these outposts be permenant. In 1464 the island was claimed by the recently declared Grand Duchy of Blåhamn (modern day Blåskog), as it seeked to expand itself northwards at the expense of the small Zrei kingdoms that layed north of it. (If you want vissual idea just generaly think everything north of Magnusby in modern day Blåskog) In which was even placed on its maps to belong to them, though it had no administrative, military, economic or political control of the island. During the late 1600s some established settlements was made by fleeing Zrei elves that was fleeing Blåhamn military expansions into the remaining Zrei kingdoms in what is now known as Blåhalvon Peninsula. It was only after Blåhalvon Act of Union in 1773, in which the Grand Duchy of Blåhamn was renamed the Kingdom of Blåskog after it conquered the last Zrei kingdom, that Blåskog inserted some control over the island. In 1780s it established fishing tariffs over the island, and demanding taxation of the few Zrei elven residents on the island. In 1804 the island was transformed into a penal colony under the orders of Blåskovian crown, in which it is specificaly meant for those who did not follow the Act of Religious Loyalty, in which anyone found not being “loyal” to the Asatru faith was forcibly sent to the island of Noraida. In which extensivly was an act targeted at the large tiefling minority in Blåskog, who still on large followed their native faith of Duarism. Though some elves both zrei and Ulvrikian was sent as well, though those was often result of individual cases, such angrying public offical, rather the “loyalty” to the Asatru faith itself. After Constitutional Treaty of 1855, in city of Alfsborg, rights of all elves no matter status in class or culture was equal under Blåskovian law. In Noraida this resulted in elves within the island being freed from force labour, and given property as compensation on the island for having been sent to Noraida under false pretenses, however for the tieflings they was still treated as the act of the law demanded.
By 1900s the Act of Religious Loyalty was removed, and tieflings was finally allowed to own their own property and the island was no longer considered penal colony of Blåskog. Though despite the act being removed tieflings was still treated second class citizens on both Noraida and rest of Blåskog, often working for the elven population. Though clergymen on the island of Noraida was allowed to establish themself officaly on the island making Duarism offical religion of the island, by the request of elven rulling class on the island, which was not done by the rest of Blåskog. After the Great War, nationalism emerged as a dominaring force on the island, in which small groups of elves and tieflings was inspired by the hirdist rebellion in Norgsveldet. Attracted by the principles of nationalism, republicanism and secularism a student movement called the Ung Noraii (Young Noraii), protested against Blåskovian goverment demanding more indepence from Blåskog… Which was brutaly cracked down upon by the military.
After the Blåskovian-Volkian war (1954-1955), the organisation Ung Noraii (now turned revolutionary mititia), declared opened insurection against Blåskovian goverment in which through help from Volkian arms and military support, was finally avaible to defeat Blåskovian military in 1963. With the insurection initialy supported by the clergy. After which the revolutionaries made their Zrei elven leader, Rag Naktsir, making him president of the Republic of Noraida. Though initialy populare by the people for his nationalisitic, anti-imperialist and modernization policies, he quickly lost the support by the clergy for his secular policies, remarks against the Duarist religion and his capitalistic policies. Though he kept the armed forces loyal to his regime, until his privatisation efforts of the economy in the 1970s in which he sold nationalised industries in ship building and mining to Volkia, as a deal for Volkian investments and economic aid to industralise Noraida.
In 1985 several military officers lead by Argv Caer met up with High Priestess Ava II in city of Norriti to plan a coup of the goverment, in which agreed that coalition goverment would be formed between military lead by Argv Caer and the religious council of Åsmaire Druest. At 1st December, 1986 the coalition of armed officers and theocratic militia stormed the presidential palace in Ragriti (today Soriti), arresting President Rag Naktsir and rest of his cabinet. After which was quickly executed in a sham trial the next day, in which Argv Caer was declared Grand Marshal of the new Socialist Duarist Republic of Noraida. Quickly nationalising all Volkian assets within the nation, in response Volkia started arming soldiers who was loyal to the previous goverment, starting the Noraii Civil War, with Blåskog giving their support to the new goverment. With the new goverment being called militarists/theocrats and the ones loyal to the previous one loyalists. By 1989, the civil war ended with the militarists/theocrats winning, thanks to Blåskovian military material and air support.
A year later Blåskovian King Carl VIII and Gran Marshal Argv Caer signing a declaration of friendship, and the king giving a offical appology for the treatment the tiefling minority within Blåskog.
