As the title states, there may soon be a (perhaps) first 2 year annual Olympic Games for all of Urth to witness for the years to come! Although it is still in it’s planning stages, there is only three issues to settle with that will be left to the public to decide via Voting: The Host Countries for the Summer and Winter Olympic Games (Celannica will not be the host for either in the first ever year), an alternative name to the Olympic Games as it’s probably copyrighted, and the number of Sports Events that various countries would want to participate so that those events may be focused on and that no few nations would be the only one’s to have an unfair advantage over the others.

The following is the list of sports up to vote (It is the actual Olympic Events divided into Summer and Winter Sports). Only 28 may be chosen based on popular voting. Maximum Sports allowed to vote on by one nation is 5. All Voting will end on March 1st, 2017.

I would love to have somethibg like the Olympic games in the East Pasific.

Maybe you could call it the Urthian Summer/Winter Sports Games? USSG and the UWSG?

As sports I would like to vote for Athletics, Diving, Swimming, Speedskating and Ski-jumping.

And last but most important: I would love to host the first ever summer games

Suggested Name: The World Games ( The Summer World Games / The Winter World Games )

Reason for the name being: since we do not have a historic “Olympia” in Urths various https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ancient_Olympic_Games to name it after. The World Games can be just as good as any.

Did TEP try to have an “Olympic” type games before?

I’m going to have to unfortunatly not vote on any Winter Games ( Figure Skating would have been my only choice btw ), becuase the Grand Duchy of Dragonia is not a winter nation for sports. People come to Dragonia to get away from the winters of their nations. LOL …

Also, I’m of two minds if I want to host a Summer World Game or not. So all I’ll say “not at this time”.

Hi there,

Vekaiyu has participated in the NS forum-based Olympics since around 2009. While I’ve never hosted such an event (and probably never will), hosting is an enormous undertaking, mostly because of how they do it. For those Olympics, they occur once every 6 months or so, with a summer and winter games. Each delegation may send a number of athletes, and each athlete may have a skill modifier to determine if they are “good” or “bad”. To make things more fair, everyone has to have an average skill modifier of 50% or less.

It’s long, it takes quite a bit of time, but the rewards are great if it’s hosted well. I’ve seen good players get the cold shoulder because they couldn’t hold up against the burdens of hosting. Electrum’s hosted many games recently, so he’s a good guy to tap for information on running regional Olympics. Here’s some other links I’ve included.

I could see Mexregiona being the host of the Sportings. After all, the nation has vast expanses of temperate areas and a considerable acreage of tundra. We also have a relatively large population, which would account for all the taxes that would be needed to get ready for it. If it were hosted in the Parish of Louisianaia, the Summer Sportings could take place in the north and the summer in the south. (Louisianaia is a weird island: very diverse.)
